How to Palm Mute on Guitar

ok i really am getting pissed.... how the hell do you do the pm switch to non-pm so damn fast??? granted i started playing guitar 2 months ago but still i can keep up with this if i could do that fast enough cuz im trying to play metal songs and cant becuz the switch is toooooo fast like as i lay dying's music...

I get the basics of palm muting. The problem is, I just want to do a palm mute on the G String. I have such a hard time doing that standing up. What do I do? Do I actually have to carry the guitar like Herbert?
