Only if you expect parents to have so little influence over their kids that they'll drink themselves into a stupor, even if the parents are against it.
If that's the case, then the problem is not the buying of the alcohol, but the upbringing!
@cameron20020 Then the parents are obviously not very good at bringing up their kids? If you do it right, you don't get kids that only obey your wisdom when you're not looking.
Im seriously considering giving up alcohol altogether. I mean, I love wine, I love whisky and I freakin adore a good beer after a huge day of either working or adrenaline sports (skydiving and beer taste very good together.) ...but, it's so unhealthy, it doesn't really ADD anything to my life compared to what it takes away. Health, a feeling of being exceptional. Saying the words "Nah, I don't drink." Actually feels good. It sets you apart from the mediocre crowd somehow.
so long as going out to the pub is lauded in our society as the "normal" thing to do then yeah I am. No your son isn't in my "little group of drunks" (unless he accidently got into your alcohol cabinet) but growing up in new zealand he is pretty much going to get told from the get go by the media, his classmates, his univeristy (assuming he goes to a new zealand one) that as a young male he should drink.
FallInto Stress, What is your problem? You're telling someone that their child will end up a drunk because media & classmates will tell him that he should drink? What are parents for.. Oh right, they're there to guide us in life and aid us in making the right choices, and not fall into false impressions given off by media, 'that it's cool to drink' Get a clue.
i live in new zealand and yes i like to party now and then but where not a bunch of drunks i mean shure every country in the world has its few idiots that give the country a bad rep but most of us are social hard working people
i dong bring up drinking in new zealand because I have to deal with hordes of "social hard working people" rampaging towards the pub every thursday on my way back from uni.
Where do you come off saying that everyone in these countries are alcoholics but yourself? Or you proclaiming that you yourself are a drunk and your on p because you live in New Zealand? Which in turn would be worse because you are stereotyping your own country hence giving us a bad name. There is a problem with excessive teen drinking, but there are a select few of us under 20 who choose not to binge drink, for whatever reason it may be, Don't stereotype like that.
If you would READ MY COMMENT. then you would realise that I said drinking is a huge problem in new zealand. And I don't give a crap about your silly nationalistic "giving the country a bad name" nonsense because it is the truth.
Our society celebrates drinking. That is the problem. You may not be the problem but on a whole our society has a fundamentaly warped view when it comes to alcohol
I think that was the directors idea... To be a shock vid to scare parents. Even if it doesn't 'scare' you, it does stimulate conversation about it, and that is usually all you need to do to make a change. The ad campaign was battling against the statistic that 30 percent of parents surveyed said that giving their children alcohol for schoolies week in australia would "limit the amount that they drink." This is a wake up call I guess.
I know it must have been difficult to do, especially for someone with as good a heart as you - but it was for a good purpose and you rocked the role. It shows your versatility
It was ghastly. She is 18 and its her very first acting gig, so she had the innocent first timer thing down pat. :) An awesome experience... but wow... intense.
Honestly, I didn't sleep the night after the shoot. Honestly, this ad was watered down in the edit, the shoot was much more full on! To act out the scene was.... nothing short of...*spine shiver* It's a very dark place to go.
Lol, I know plenty of people who drink a beer, and then they think they have an excuse to act like a slut. Alcohol leads to good things too.

Stojo87 2 years ago
@Stojo87 alcohol is a problem. We have just become the fattest nation on earth. It doesn't take a genius to figure where beerguts come from.
benanaman 2 years ago
becuase our growing number of fast food chains, cable TV networks and parental laziness has NOTHING to do with obesity now does it...
Stojo87 2 years ago
@Stojo87 Sure it does. what's your point?

is this ad saying if you drink youll get some
smokinthepot 2 years ago
63%...Thats a little high dont you think? 99% Of the time you have a great time, why dont they put that in the ad?
kingy1214 2 years ago
@kingy1214 because their trying to scare parents. the fucking kids will get their grog either way. better the parents, then paying a hobo like i did
cameron20020 2 years ago 2
I was hoping the ad would stop after "Buy your kids alcohol." Haha.
My mum has only bought it for me on 1 occasion.
A Carton of beer.
I'm not irresponsible when I drink, and I do it in moderation and she knows that.
The main problem with teens binge drinking is honesty.
As soon as my mum asked me that I drunk, I told her yes.
So she trusts me with it and that makes it feel less rebellious I guess. Which is why most kids do drink.
Edos222 2 years ago
most teen's drink coz there sheeps :D
nathanlovespie 2 years ago
haha, is it even possible to get drunk off cruisers?
I cringe everytime i see a male holding one, lol, it's like holding a handbag.
Get a bottle of rum fella's and don't stop till the last drop.
I'd probably drink less if my parents bought it for me....if they said i can only have beers i'd only drink the beers.
But they say flat out no, so i just go and get mates to get me a bottle.
So this ad is bullshit
itsdamo1993 2 years ago 2
lol. Ok.
So you think parents should buy their kids MORE alcohol, because they will drink less because of it... and might not get raped as much.
benanaman 2 years ago
haha, stop being a smartass.
For me and a lot of people i know it would work.
I'm not allowed to drink at all, so every time I go out, I buy a whole bottle, get smashed and make the most of it.
But, if my parents gave me a 6 pack of beer, I would go to the party and have the 6 beers.
If parents don't buy it, kids just go elsewhere and get whatever and however much they want.
Atleast if the parents buy it they have more control.
itsdamo1993 2 years ago
thats a valid point though.

@benanaman
children drink more responsibly when their parents bring them up with alcohol present,
they are more likely to go crazy drinking it, if it is forbidden, or hard to come by
cameron20020 2 years ago
@cameron20020 So don't give your kids alcohol and let them leave the house with it then.
benanaman 2 years ago
and what happens when they get a third party to buy it for them, such as a homeless person, or an older friend?

HugoManz1 2 years ago
Haha I've only had one in my life and it tasted like lemonade to me....
honestly if you can't stand the taste of alcohol you probably shouldn't be drinking at all.
Rum and coke is so nice :)
itsdamo1993 2 years ago
Me, I'm quite partial to red wine, cheese, smooth jazz and a shagfest with Nicky.
Did i just say that?

I'd prefer relaxing with a beer rather than wine....but I agree about the shagfest with nicky, she's a top chick :)

You skydive...that's mad
Fair enough, but are the health effects really that bad they will stop you from doing something you "freakin adore"?
Everything good has health effects if you have too much, but you dont have to give it up completely, just enjoy it in moderation.
As for being apart from the crowd for not drinking at all....giving up icecream/chocolate etc. completely would also show your strength.
But personally I wouldn't give up things I enjoy so I can be different
itsdamo1993 2 years ago
the heart is, chase exceptionalism, destroy mediocrity.
I HAVE given up ice cream and chocolate. :) Its how I lost 8 kilos.. (ten now)
