  • Buddy Bailey, lead w/ Matthew McQuarter/ Harold "Hal" Lucas Jr./ Harold "Jerome" Winley/ William "Bill" Harris guitar - with Willis ‘Gator’ Jackson tenor sax/ possibly Harry Van ‘Piano Man’ Walls piano/ possibly Leonard ‘Heavy’ Swan bass/ possibly Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Simms, drums

The Clovers recorded Fool on 12 JUL 1951. Some dispute as to the recording location: Washington, DC (WHOM Studio)? NYC?

    Orig. Atlantic 944 b/w Needless.

By AUG, #1 R&B chart. Yes, still worthy of #1!

    Thank you. :I:

  • @Finkanslig That's Willie "Gator TAIL" Jackson, once married to Ruth Brown, and VANN "Piano Man" Walls, whose biggest hit, back in the day, was "Blur Sender," essentially "One Mint Julep" minus The Clovers.

  • @hwgray Born Harry Eugene Vann. Atlantic 988 label has VANN WALLS and THE ROCKETS. The Atlantic 970 label: JOE TURNER with VAN “Piano Man” WALLS and His Orchestra. Mostly I see Harry Van ‘Piano Man’ Walls references.

I see 'Gatortail' for Willis Jackson. He recorded Later for The Gator. His albums Blue Gator and Gator's Groove were on Prestige. There was a Verve Gator Tails. Mostly I see Willis ‘Gator’ Jackson.

By any name, both great talents - cannot dispute that fact! :I:
