whats the point of doing a demo like this and just pointing your finger at stuff while music plays in the video!..what u should of done is talk and remove the music!...spoilt!....you may as well as point at your knee for all the relevance it achieves!
The thermal paste is what is used to make a solid contact between the heatsink and the gpu, if you looked at the gpu before he put his paste on it only had a little bit on it. He put a better coat of paste and probably a higher quality paste on there.
hey, i was thinking of chaning my thermal paste too on my two gtx285, does your gtx285 get lower temps after new thermal paste, and what thermal paste did you using?? let me know ok.
Wow that looks so much simpler than my blasted GX2...the stupid connecting ribbon cables are annoying as can be...and the stupid braces between the 2 PCBs...ugh
hey mr hydez that is way to much thermal paste you used there! i only use a grain sized drop of arctic silver 5 and spread it with my finger nice vid anyways!
how many frames you get on cod4 everything is max out? i bought gtx 285 black edtion on xfx and a little bit faster than this card... but i only get 60 frames on 1400x1050 the same on gtx 9800 which is my old card....wtf
why do they even bother putting the nvidia logo on the chip...I think the person that bought a 300 pound graphics card would know, especially since most wont romove the case
I'll assume it's "why is there a heatspreader?" The main reason for an IHS (integrated heatspreader) is to protect the core from being crushed, at the expense of higher thermal resistance.
Probably because the die is so big that it might be possible to snap it in half if the heatsink screws are too tight. IDK...just my guess. Companies try to get out of as many RMA's as possible. hehe...
what is the white stuff

Is it recommended to clean the thermal paste from a new gfx card or is it fine like it is?

did this reduce your temps?
lizardmannnn 2 years ago
load temps only slightly
MrHydez 2 years ago
by like what? 0.0001 degree?
vtnsx 2 years ago
Most GPU I do this to it drops temps 1-2c which can be quite a bit if you overclock ^-^

under load 10 degrees with arctic silver 5 instead of the nvidia thermal compound.

use IC 7 diamond TIM. its better than as5

or even better use Shin Etsu x-23 7783D or Noctuna TIM which are both better that diamond for less cost.

thermal pound switch and cooler show off.
because temps in load of 285 are higher than 280, so i suspected
that this could only be because of the cooler remake.
cheers

no you have the frame limiter for Cod4 thats by many graphichips becasue the CPU brake the graphicchip that he dont get any damage!
i dont know how you get i it away!
xXxEliteXPsychoxXx 3 years ago
Ur resolution is low for the card. These cards excel with filters and high resolutions.
Frame Limiter? Seriously?

bryand1989 3 years ago
they reduced the die size from 576mm2 to 470mm2, even tough, with this cooler at load i belive 285 gets hotter than 280.
and they've manage to reduce TDP from 236W = 65nm to 183W peak power = 285 my idle temp with 181.22 drivers is 40ºc but
remember this 285, 260 55nm do not
support hybrid power no longer.
MrHydez 3 years ago
hope you cleaned the old tp of the cooler otherwise that be silly lol.
tombmxcrowley 3 years ago
well of course the pounds are completly different
MrHydez 3 years ago
good! or = unsubscribe. :)
tombmxcrowley 3 years ago
can i pare this with 600w psu? some site says minimum is 550 some says 660? idk
caretaker 3 years ago
Depends on which PSU you have. A 600W Sweex and a 500W Corsair are a huge difference.
hotdog2303 3 years ago 2
hi guys temps dropping, today ~35ºc/36ºc idle
and with little luck they might get even better
will see...
cheers
MrHydez 3 years ago
well it increased i have to be honest.
from 36ºc idle to 43ºc idle, as the thermal pound gets dry better temps i get.
load temps without changing anything it hit 80ºc
playing crysis, that's one of the reasons why
i've removed the cooler so you can compare
with 280 65nm, because i think 280 as better
load temps after all.
cheers

way too much as5

i'm not going for wc, and you should see the amount of their paste they're using...
double ou triple my amount... lol

Computenator 3 years ago
The gtx 200 series graphics cards have an integrated heat spreader covering the gpu. Not like ati which is a bare die.
chahahc 3 years ago 3
but why heat spreader :(
some people lapped their 280's lol
CRAKIZGOOD 3 years ago
I'm not sure what you are asking...
I'll assume it's "why is there a heatspreader?" The main reason for an IHS (integrated heatspreader) is to protect the core from being crushed, at the expense of higher thermal resistance.
chahahc 3 years ago
there was no heatspreader on a 9800gtx :|
alot of people remove the ihs on intel cpu's and they never get broken
did and one attempt to lap a gtx 280/285
CRAKIZGOOD 3 years ago
Probably because the die is so big that it might be possible to snap it in half if the heatsink screws are too tight. IDK...just my guess. Companies try to get out of as many RMA's as possible. hehe...
