oh how i wish those Maynard copyists would listen to this, played with thought and beauty, not endless screaming and shrieking noises.Music as music NOT a sport.
@svsugvcarter: I've seen this broadcast and after Farmer's solo, there' an amazing Fred Hersch solo! if you have the whole thing, upload it, pleeeeeeeeez !
I remember playing this video concert one summer when i was about 13 every single day, playing my trumpet along with the video wondering how those pretty lines were coming out and wondering why i sounded a hot mess. I also had the opportunity to sit in with him, i just point blank asked him can i sit in and he asked what do u want to play. We played Nows the time. I sounded a mess, didn't know any changes, but he did give me some pointers. Beautiful human being.
When, I ask myself, did Art Farmer ever play a bad note? The man was beautiful: thoughtful, intelligent, expressive and never less than passionate about his art. A lovely man in so many ways. I miss him so much. We don't have many of his like left to enjoy.
