i wish there were more than 3 bones (including me) in my marching band who could play this. not that they are bad, just a lot of them are switch overs so they arent great
If any of yall had ever played in the marching band.... silly fun things like this are not meant to be played well. You are supposed to blast and be loud and sound terrible because you are just up there in the stands to have fun. Stop criticizing their music ability. I'm sure their show sounded better on the field, and they have a whole different sound in concert season, because that's where the serious stuff is.
and lastly and probably most importantly, who advised that 3rd bone to play low F in trigger 1st? That's like, remedial trigger trombone knowledge 101.
For crying out loud my brother in middle school knows not to do that
I use my f trigger and play low F, all the time, it just requires more air and a lot practice of making a clean sound. Its even harder on bass trombone because you are playing on a much larger instrument to begin with. Oh and remembering to tune it. Now that I own a bass trombone, I have two attachments and its even more important to tune them. It really surprises me how many people who use them never tune them or worse yet didn't know they could tune them (yes I have seen this happen...).
A) It sounding like "ass" is your opinion and you're entitled to it, but it doesn't make what we played wrong. The band loves it so we play it.
B) We didn't take the whole thing from ASU. The only thing we did was attempt to emulate the high part's style and sort of played it in the same form. We had been playing this already before hearing ASU.
C) Who cares about how the bass bone plays it. He can play how he feels comfortable playing. It's a freaking football game not carnegie hall.
interesting. star wars is cooler, but that low rider arrangement is lacking in soul. and tell your bass guys to play the pedal louder, i couldn't hear the pedal Bb at all.
We were just messing around, and it was the first time we had played that all together. I taught the entire section the medley an hour before the game.
Lack of stamina is never an excuse for poor intonation. When gigging it's not uncommon to be on stage for hours. You deal with it. Regardless of whether or not your were messing around you were performing for people. BTW, the Brooklyn solo was fine.
Also, id like to hear the original song..the first 1 you guys play Brooklyn i type that in youtube search bar and as you could imagine it brings up 1000 things that are irrelevant to what im looking for, thanks again nice video!
Thats pretty cool, my high school attempted to play Lowrider we added trumpets, saxophones, tubas and of course had trombones of all sizes lawl you guys seem to play well together and it sounds like your school crowd likes you..our school crowd is fool of retarded people who only like music they can't understand the words in...Good job!
that was sweet im a 8th grade honor winds trombone player and i only have a blessing triger trombine but about to head in the birdville mighty hawks marching band and i cant wait and i already know all the trombone players for next year i remeber playing those songs in 7th grade good times good times =)
You could do away with the first two songs. My low brass section plays that too, but we can't do that. Maybe when i become section leader I'll teach them an improved version.
first we were just going to do star wars, then we decided to add low rider, then i wanted to play brooklyn at the beginning so i worked with scott and he learned the low part and i played the solo part
Wow, Round Rock High School Low Brass does "Low Rider" different than ya'll...but ours is pretty dumb...because we have to PASS IT OFF to a director before we can play it in the stands...it's too easy to play...:D
Brooklyn sounded a bit off, but Low Rider sounded friggin sweet. :)

Yea, the low F in trigger 1st sounds like crap if you don't put the right amount of air.

and if you claim to have taken this from the ASU bones or whatever, give it another watch for the 3rd part.

2nd and 3rd parts on low rider are wrong

There's no right way to play it. This is the way our trombone section plays it as well as a lot of other schools.
