i cant believe bruno died in the gas chamber!!!!! all he wanted was a friend, he didnt know about concentration camps. i had to get up and press pause and cry in the corner for a little bit
This movie was fantastic and had an extremely powerful message. But look at little Asa now! He has his own movie playing the part of Hugo in the movie "Hugo." That's so impressive! He's such a talented boy! (:
good ending. it really puts you in the shoes of the family members because when you just hear about people getting gassed you think "oh thats so sad " but when it happens to a family member its a whole different story.
The Jews rule the world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them. They invented holocaust so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong, so they may enjoy equal rights with others. With these they have now gained control of the most powerful countries. And they, this tiny community, have become a world power.
i dont get it how could those fucking nazis do that?!?how can they just take a child from his only mother(im talking generaly bout ww2)away `!!??!how can they watch how a 4 year old cute boy dies infront of their noses cos he doesnt have any food to eat?!how can they beat em up...FROM NOT DOING ANYTHINg AT ALL!!!!!??how....????????????????????????!!!!THEY SAY THE JEWS R NOT HUMAN BUT THEN WHAT R THEY????!!!!
@TheFannahannah Well, it was a mixture of many factors actually (keep in mind I am NOT a Nazi sympathizer, I am just trying to be factual about this) The Germans lost WW1, the Allies were very harsh in their punishment against the Germans & many Germans were disillusioned, hurt, etc. Hitler came to power as an incredibly radical man who took authority and the Germans fell in line with him immediately. His antisemitism preachings took hold as a way for Germans to feel better about themselves.
@TheFannahannah Also, the Jews were used as scapegoats for anything that went wrong, and it strengthened Germany as a country. People who joined the Nazi's were swept up because they were brainwashed from a young age (like Gretel in this story), & those who did not agree were silenced because they feared punishment. Most Nazi's in concentration camps pretended Jews were not "really people"(like Bruno's dad said) to lessen the burden of their guilt (cuz Nazi's were human too)
anyone else find the hot nazy guy(Rupert Friend) disturbingly hot? I couldn't take his eyes off of him with the blonde hair and nice eyes and strong facial structure, but of course the film is very heartbreaking and the message it sends is powerful!
Probably the most heart-wrenching, saddest, shocking ending of any movie. The way the whole movie builds up the characters of the two boys, only to shatter that in the end made it even worse. Such a powerful movie. <3
@karla7707560 same here i wuzz in 8th grade wen i saw thiz movie i felt bad nd some tearz kome out of me i aint skare to say that i kinda kry kuase it wuzz sad wen those boy nd men die
@pranker351 it was not shower that was the crematorion remeber brunos dad have the papers planing the construction of a bigger crematorion when the mom interruped said bruno was not in the house then the jewis boy said to bruno the firts time they meet that they are working in the construction of a new room in this case the crematorion the smell and black smoke that bruno see every day was that the crematorion. the guy who said is only a shower he said that to not scare the others both boys died
I'm never going to forget the ending of this movie. It was terrible to see those adorable boys trapped in that... thing... I cried for... I don't even know how long :'(
good film: so emotional and the actors play their parts so well (amazing acting). The last scene when he entered the camp area I felt that was going to happen, sad film but worth watching. Has really interesting perspectives
Ive just watched it and i dont think ive eve cried that much for ages!
My nana was a little girl at the time and she tells me stories about how her nana used to stand outside shouting at the planes 'you bloody Germans! clear off you horrible buggars' ahah, and how they used to have hot coco in the air raid shelter and how horrible it was
I love the way this film divides Germans into a) those who knew nothing about the persecution of the Jews and b) those who knew but thought it was dreadful
I can never ever work out why Germany as Hitler suddenly took over German politics how He and the SS were so anti Semetic. There were Jews as German officers in WW1. what did the Jews do to Germans during that time?
@walker55able Nothing. Germany was in such a poor state after world war 1 and being held accountable for everything related to WW1 (having to pay compensation and rebuild a fragile economy). Hitler saw his chance to blame Germany's state on a group of people and, after early initial struggles, eventually rose to power with the help of the "Big Lie" theory - the idea that if you tell a lie enough times with enough conviction, people will begin to believe it. Hitler and Goebbels were good at this!
Just finished watching the movie....... OMG it was Sooooo sad especially when Bruno and Small die together holding hands in the gas chamber. I cried it was heartbreaking.
jack scanlon was great hopefully he comes out in more movies i felt sooo sad wen i saw that a soldier hit him nd left all red on his right eye :( i love that move♥♥

I cryer at the end of this movie! I was holding my BFFs hand the whole time! I was bawling! I felt sooooooooo bad for Bruno! I would never want to be bruno for this movie! :(
This movie is so moving that everyone I know who's seen it (including guys) has cried. it really presents to you the reality of the situation that the Jews had to go through. Concentration camps were horrible and they exterminated 6 million Jews.
I actually had a Holocaust survivor come to my school a while ago. It was a very good experience and we all got to shake his hand and look at the album that he brought. I can still remember those pictures clearly.
@DarthJacob12 it's because the film isnt really about being german as such, it's more about the message of the film :) if they put on german accents it would distract from the main meaning :)
@Mizzcutieboo Bruno and Schmuel were caught up in a group of old jewish inmates who were being marched to the gas chambers to be executed. They were all put into the chamber, then the air-tight doors were locked and an SS officer dropped the Zyclon B pellets into the chamber through an openning in the ceiling. The pellets react with the air inside the chamber, producing a poisonous gas that eventully suffocated the prisoners..
In short, it was humanity at its absolute evil :'(
i am aware the ending was sad and that a ton of you wish it would have ended differently, but it had to end the way it did. it sends a powerful message that the nazis didn't care who they were killing. they were just killing innocent people in masses without a second thought. it took the death of someone they deemed as "innocent" to die in order for the father to realize how what he was doing was wrong.
Ok everyone that's says I'm fuckin wrong read this if the fuckin Nazis couldn't get that Bruno wasn't a Jew I think they could descize Sunil to okay think about that!!!!!
I don't like the fact that over 6 million innocent Jewish people were horribly treatet like that. I mean Seriouslly, they had to starve them to the point of death, and kill them like that. It pisses me off that the Holocaust even occured. I will forever look at this horrid event as one of the worst events in history.
This makes me so furious! I always wonder, how could anybody think killing so many people is a good thing? I honestly wonder... and during this time, people -kids!- just like Bruno and Shmuel were killed. Hundreds and hundreds.... It makes regular things seem so insignificant, doesn't it?
It's a fantastic film . It' really moving and makes me cry everytime I watch it. Six million Jews died for well being Jews. They didn't do anything wrong yet they were punished. I'm glad Britain won the war, and saved some Jews. Unfortunetly, those six million were unable to be saved because of Nazi's gassing them. However we did our part and came through and conquered, if we lost the war we would be talking German. But because we won we arn't.
@rokgirl86 Britain didn't win the war they got stuck on the left flank invading Germany because of the Panzer's and to much tanks America was the scond people to get into Germany and Canada was the first but they had trouble getting through the German's second line of defence so American's actually got deeper into Germany and I regret learning the German language after seeing this film.

walker55able 5 months ago
@walker55able Nothing. Germany was in such a poor state after world war 1 and being held accountable for everything related to WW1 (having to pay compensation and rebuild a fragile economy). Hitler saw his chance to blame Germany's state on a group of people and, after early initial struggles, eventually rose to power with the help of the "Big Lie" theory - the idea that if you tell a lie enough times with enough conviction, people will begin to believe it. Would've made far more sense if bruno rescued the guy but i guess 8 year olds think differently.

I don't like the fact that over 6 million innocent Jewish people were horribly treatet like that. I mean Seriouslly, they had to starve them to the point of death, and kill them like that. It pisses me off that the Holocaust even occured. I will forever look at this horrid event as one of the worst events in history.

Nawwh I love Asa!
And felt so sorry for Jack all through the film! :/
At the end I always think thank god they're just acting.
But then again this happened to MILLIONS of people..
I show my Grandma this movie and she didn't like watching it because her brother was in a concentration camp.
Its so sad. :(
Btw, I can't wait for The Invention of Hugo Cabret to come out! :)

RIP Six Million Jews. It wasn't your fault.
