  • awesome! was fun to watch. i kept wondering how each guy was going to cut in and they all had some surprises, especially the guy at 0:40! great video, and please post more!!! :-)

  • isn't west coast supposed to be a slot dance?

  • It is a slotted dance but a birthday dance tends to travel when one couple has the entire floor although I think they stick to the slot pretty well here.

At the studio in Chicago where I dance West Coast we do a snowball for birthday dances. In a snowball the couple splits when the music stops. Each partner brings in another partner until the floor is full by the end of the song.

  • Birthday west-coasts follow the slot just as well as any dance. There are moves that shift or rotate the slot, but if you're doing most of it right, you should end up on the slot at the end.

  • I like to stay in the slot! I don't see anyone here out of the slot. Sometimes when partners change & no one else is on the floor they new lead changes the slot position. An infraction? Maybe? The lead leads. These dancers are fabulous.

  • That's funny, Steppin' Out. I dance at Step 'n' Out in Covington, KY
