  • sorry, i sie zle dzieje

  • ich liebe mimi, aber das lied und das video betrachte ich als jugendsünde.

  • Mimi ist fantastisch.

    Danke Mimi.

  • The song is not silly its about natives being smarter and happier than us.Achieving gnosis by ritual dancing and singing. Mimi is still a fabulous singer.

  • This french lyric is more sophisticated than you might think. Not about Cajun food but about natives dancing themselves into an altered trance state using the mantra Jambalaya in this song. It means they meet the the God within themselves they call Mother earth, an internal voice they hear. Its utterly beyond the European mind but certainly not the song writer.

Explained beautifully in the book Voices of the first Day by Robert Lawlor

  • Mireille : Eres bellísima. Te adoro. ¡¡¡...No te mueras nunca, Mireille...!!!

Nunca habrá alguien como tú, Mimí

  • Great! Love it! Go MIMI!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • Mireille c'est trés bien mais il aurait fallu que vous dansiez le country en meme temps .

C'est vraiment dommage . Rechantez la en dansant vous auriez un succès fou.

  • I think Johnny Stark had a hand in this gig, and he had to know it would not play well anywhere outside of France. I think he hoped they'd get a check and they would destroy the negatives (smile). Mimi probably screams everytime someone asks her about it. Same with the Sahara gig where she tries to make the desert seem like a nice place (smile) it even had real camels in it (whew!)...

  • "Jambalaya" signifie jambon en cajun. Les paroles que Mireille Mathieu chante sur cette version ont été écrites en France dans les années '50 alors qu'une image plus que naïve des autochtones de l'Amérique hantait l'imagination des européens. It is still in very bad taste however.

  • SI ???????????????????????????

  • Crap.

  • Mimi is never crap. You are quite mistaken.Perhaps you might sophisticate and extend your vocabulary.

  • hey wait Frenchy. isn't Jambalaya is the name of...... the food ?? food likes in eat... you knoww..!!:)

  • English and french song versions use jambalaya differently. In English its food It's a musical mantra in the French version.

  • Fascynujący film...i wspaniała piosenka..

  • racsist as all get out

  • Yes it is. As part choctaw and Fench/Spanish Louisiana creolle I find this so offensive, but few Euros would probably care.

  • yeah, i sport this mixed ethnicity too- i guess that is what is meant by "jambalaya"? but this "happy indian" image portrayed by none other than a European {deep calming breaths}, i cant believe youtube hasnt removed this racist insensitive ignorant parochial video and all its ensuing unimaginably uncensored arrogant conquistador-esque overtones...

i thought "racist as all get out" would get the point across, and yet the vid is still here

  • I don''t think that we should censor it, but that more people like us should just constantly point out how horrible it is. I love Mireille's voice but this has tainted my image of her.

  • hmm, i like where you're coming from

    Film super-5/5

  • No, ruszyło mnie! Nogi same chodzą, ale oczy oderwać trudno. Bardzo fajne wykonanie.

I want to dance, too. Now I am...18 years old...only...

  • Swietne wykonanie! Znam to w wykonaniu Paula Anki ale to slysze pierwszy raz. Teraz mi sie chce tanczyc :-) Druga czesc zabrala mnie znow do Hawaii gdzie bylam wiele razy.

    Dziekuje Wando!

  • priceless! I love it!

didn't need the dual subs myself since I can read the French, but very useful for those who don't speak it.

  • Anglos enjoy mouthing along with Mimi. Then theres French students who collect Mimi music. And Germans prefer to read English Subs.
