I know this because my family owns an FAL and i have had my experience with an M14. I personally own an AK47, Saiga12, KAR98 and a few more that do not pertain to this convo.

@bosoxboy1468927 Heres a tidbit more info for you. At the start of Vietnam the M14 was shortly issued (before the M16) with the fire selectors locked to semi auto to reduce ammo "waste". Not because of their grouping, but because troopers could not see the enemy and would just spray. It was decommissioned because it was not a suitable weapon (to heavy and long) to carry all day in hot, humid and wet environments. Same with the M14E2 which was the S.A.W. version of the M14.

@driver76fan A sniper version? There is no such thing as a sniper version, All snipers do is put a scope on the M14 and use it to snipe, you can still put it on full auto, a gun can be switched to Semi OR Full auto. Thats why there are selector switches.

@driver76fan The pistol grip in the game is a legit stock, it's called a DMR stock. However it is incorrect as it was not around at the time, and there is no, "sinper version". An M14 is select fire, the semi auto version is an M1A which is the civilian version

@yesiamawizardjonny actually because the pivot point in the stock gave it too much muzzle lift. pivot point it the elbow between the butt and the bolt mechanism. that why the M16, the stock goes straight and they made the raised sight rail so that there would be no pivot point. m14 was a great rifle but was just too expensive to make for miliatary purposes.
