  • I think Enigma did it justice. Plus it's good on the ears.

  • Bellisimo!

  • Wonderful!

  • my marching band is doing our next show with this song

  • perfect.

  • This gives me such a lovely peace, that you can't possibly decrive it..

  • I love this music so much that I named my daughter Claire! Great music, it touches the soul!

  • ANYONE can destroy. But think of the raw talent that it takes to create the things of beauty that some men and women are capable of - they are truly the rarest of humans! Art is one of the few things that can bring humans together without the rawness of war and destruction.

  • This is what will be playing when I float away from my deathbed

  • @rossman1rb theres no life after death

  • @ai1888 man, Im glad I dont share that opinion

  • Why?:'(

  • @francescoilovehouse Grazie….Sono così felice lo avete goduto!

  • beautiful piece of music, have heard this song for years in movies and always loved it!!

  • Bellissimo.....This piece is one of the reasons Classical in my adolescent years became one of my favorite forms of music...real instruments and real genius and complexity and the level and depth of feeling that could be pulled out of you...WOW

  • @shag2469 "...real instruments and real genius and complexity and the level and depth of feeling that could be pulled out of you...." I love the way you said that!

  • Wonderful combination of visuals and music. Well done.

  • I just flat love DeBussy's music..... Can't say any more than that !!

  • Beautiful! Too bad there isn't a LOVE button! If the five star ratings were still in place, I would have given it five stars!

  • 12 people lack good taste.

  • 12 people lack taste.

  • beautiful piece.. saved the best image for last :)

  • Belive it or not, this song has got me through some very bad times, I dont know how I would have made it, this song is just great! I love it, it always makes me feel positive, I owe a lot to this song

  • I see 12 thumbs down for this video and it honestly makes me wonder what planet somebody could come from and not love this music and these images. It gives me great hope that there are 844 thumbs up because the vast majority of viewers/listeners have a brain.

  • I absolutely love and hate this kind of pieces.I love them because the make you want to run into the sunset. All the emotions just burst in you .And hate them because it reminds me to practice more often, and it makes me realise how my piano knowledge is poor. And that is only when I hear it,what happens when I actualy see someone playing (very good) I don't want even to say... :)))

  • if i saw MIKA play this i think i would realy die if i didn't already from my lve for this song

  • Awesome, thank god for creativity like this, makes up for all the rest of the crap in society!

  • this is good

  • The "ad" really drives me nuts. When you minimize it, it's still at the bottom of the picutre and draws your attention away from the image. When you click "X", it would disappear or at least be over the side.

  • Thank you. Absolutely breathtaking.

  • Quero viver mais

  • Quero mais do viver

  • this is truly beautiful well done

  • 邦題→「月の光り」

  • @takaomurasako ありがとう

  • @takaomurasako What?

  • What an absolutely beautiful video! Your amazing pictures and techniques only enhanced this incredible composition.

  • @annyct1 Thank you very much!

  • @annyct1 I so agree with you ...

  • @annyct1 Agreed, they complement the music beautifully.

  • Reminds me of one full moon night at a beach in Danang, with this song playing in my mind. Amazing.

  • Tan clara esa luna, hermosa pieza musical!!!!

  • Seems you've made quite the impression on the cyber world, toots

  • Seems the masses like the moon scapes, toots :)

  • excellent photo montage, works well...

  • I'm learning this piece and it is so wonderful to hear this version. It gives flight to new ideas and directions to interpret. It is truly a magnificent work of art. Debussy was a musical genius who put all magnums of beautiful into one, brilliant piece.

  • Everytime I listen to this song I weep, that aperson could create this beautiful, heartbreaking composition, almost makes you see God.

  • truly the most beautiful melody to come outside and see the estars, the universe....feel the breeze.....hear the sea........far, far,far from cities and the noise of humankind

  • Beautiful!!! Thanks for posting.

  • I used to play this on piano when I was 10 years old and I did it in a recital, I used to be very good and wish I kept at it, Now this week I tried again and I can barely get through 10 measures. WOW really pretty video clips, thanks for posting such an etheral vid clip. Blessngs to you.

  • I used to play this as a child and now and trying it again, I can not believe I was that good in 5th grade! It is so difficult to do.....Working hard here ... Beautiful video!

  • I was listening to this while doing my Econ homework in my university's library.. and I was reminded of how many times I've listened to my sister play it.. and of old girlfriends.. and I just started crying.

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

I first heard this song about 10 years ago in the movie, "When Frankie met Johnie" ,

( at least I think thats what it was called). It comes on towards the end of the movie, just before dawn after fighting all night, they decide to give each other a chance. Dark into light!!!

In case you missed it WOW!

  • Yes this is a beautiful song but whenever I here this I cant help but picture the end to a couple movies, notably Ocean's 11. I love classical music but usally have a hard time figuring out who composed the song. Lucky I found this, I just put a bunch on my playlist.

  • thank you

  • i can't help but think of Victor Borge when i hear this. He was a extremely good talent and his skits were hilarious. I believe this was his theme song. i may be wrong To hear him play a complete song was rare. Thx for posting.

  • I love this song. Thank you. If we could go back to music like this and put focus on making it important again our world would truly be a different place.

  • Debussy mast have been touched by an Angel ....Nice post...wonderful compostion ...

  • wow...i love it

  • simply pretty

  • I love when I start playing this song on my piano and I get a weird sensation running through my body and travels out through my hands onto the piano and making it impossible to stop yet making it more beautiful because you realize the sensation is your love for the song and your piano and you lose yourself to the rest of the world concentrating only on playing..... Ah I wish kids my age were able to appreciate the beauty of classical music instead of rock screaming to rape everyone in sight

  • @ElfenLied7002 So very true. I love this song. I don't get why people think that classical music is boring!

  • hehe.. my dog sleeps to this :)

  • omg this is my favorite piano song, they killed it (bad) in twilight :p, I remember learning this a while back

  • soothing and provoking all at once.

  • Truly one of the most beautiful compositions of all time. Sublime. Thank you for posting this.

  • @SCOTCHSOLACE Delighted you enjoyed it...thank you.

  • Thank you so, much for posting this. This is amazing... I don't think I heard it until I started listening to my local classical station/the NPR again. When I heard this song, I literally began to cry...then smile...then cry. (Seriously, I was like the "Rainbow Guy," LOL). Words can't describe how poignant yet inspiring it is. Thank you.

  • @ElectricGrapevines You are so welcome!

  • This is a piece that my mother used to play often and as beautifully as this artist. As a child I would go to bed listening to her play this or another piece. I think that is when she would get the time to practice. It was a wonderful way to go to sleep.

  • @riverchap1 What a wonderful childhood memory for you....thank you for sharing!

  • Wow! I don't know of anything that would top this. Fantastic.

  • I absolutely love this song! Especially during the middle where it just gets so crazy fast. I bet that's complicated to play. This is amazing.

  • @jnobrens Absolutamente!!!!

  • A truly beautiful song.

  • This is gorgeous, an amazing piece of art for sure.

  • This song reminds me of all the wonderful times I had with my dearest love.

  • Another great piece of music ruined by the hype of popular culture and an abhorrent 'film'......

  • @Apollo2134 You are right. I can´t believe anyone can listen to Debussy and just say "oh, that´s Edward´s favourite song"

As if Debussy was thinking of horny teenagers when he composed that!!

    That´s just insulting.

  • @belledejour72 I agree with you! Today's teens lake appropriate cultural upbringing. They watch MTV and become the uncouth, fowl-mouthed,hooligans that is deemed "COOL" in today's society. Very very sad.

  • I do not consider myself apart of that group of teenage girls, who sit around all day at school and discuss twilight. Most of these girls have brains somewhere in them, but they choose not to use them. Later in life that will come back to haunt them.

  • Although I am a twilight fan, I would never say "OMG! That's Edward's favorite song!" in response to hearing this genius. It's so beautifully written, I don't know how anyone could stoop so low as to upon hearing this masterpiece immediately think of twilight.

  • @Nancycarigen whats wrong with being called gay by 3 shrews?

  • Love it

  • @Nancycarigen I am so sorry.

    Women have become...ugh....*shudders*

Any fan of Debussy is a man I would respect deeply my hat goes off to you (and you are definitely not gay). Peace

  • the greatest piano piece ever.

brings me so much peace whenever i play it.

  • Every time I hear this piece by De Bussy~I think of the sweetness of young love starting out slowly and escalating to extreme passion and then as they age together, to the sweetness that they knew when they were young again, supporting one another as they age and love each other.

  • RE: this song in Twilight; if you read the book, it is part of the story of Edward whose human life ended in 1918, about the time when this song was written; I've always thought that he brought this into his Vampire life to remind him of his family and life as a human; As for me... I've always loved this song. It is actually part of larger piece written for a dance presentation.

  • Exsquisitely Divine

  • @Nancycarigen Sometimes I think stories like yours is why I AM gay.

  • truly divine, if life were a dream this serene tranquil emotive composition would be the soundtrack.

  • I can't listen to this without almost welling up, such a divine piece of music.

  • I heard this music on a progressive station on Long Island and qas really moved by it.It is funny, the older you get the moreyou music taste change. I never saw "Twilight to associate this music with that. I just think it is a beutiful piece.

  • What must have gone through DeBussy's elated mind while he composed this? I imagine him shutting off the whole world, while tirelessly consumed and engrossed in what he must have known was destined to become a very great and famous musical composition. Oh, if we could only have seen the smile of satisfaction upon his face when he arose, finished music in hand, and marching off to present this matchless piece to his awestruck admirers.

  • @hlaltimus What a marvelous description for this magnificent piece....thank you!

  • @hlaltimus It's called Laudinum.. wiki it

  • @hlaltimus

It's a beautiful thought hialtimus, and I feel like it's a sin to crash your world.... but Debussy was not very satisfied with this piece, nor did he like the rest of the suite. It wasn't published until years after he wrote it.

  • Please have a listen to my interpretation of Clair De Lune if you have the time, I would truly appreciate it. You can find it on my page or here watch?v=mw3m6XHJFyc

Rate or Subscribe if you enjoy. Thank you.

  • This music makes me feel relaxed, it eases my pain.

  • Have loved this piece since I was a young girl. As much as it pains me to think Debussy's Clare de Lune is associated as Bella's song in the film Twilight, I think perhaps it is better to focus upon the positive aspect, being, Debussy has been translated across the decades and made it into the minds and hearts of todays generation, perhaps giving a new reflection and respect towards classical music. Lets hope it inspires a new wave.

  • I've always loved this piece of music ever since I heard it as a child I find it very moving . if you cannot be moved by a piece of music or art or theatre you have no soul .bless and love to all

  • When I have a bad day I always play this right before I go to bed. It puts me in the most peaceful state.....love it!!!

  • I watched Tokyo Sonata and Kenij played this song at the end. i had no clue it was in Twilight

  • Obrigado muito!

  • its been used in a few movies ,oceans 13 is one

  • i feel like a movie such as twilight with vampires and teen love and lots of angst doesn't deserve to have this work of art as a soundtrack. Nothing could do this piece justice.

  • @TheKeenanBoy i wholheartedly agree.....classical music dossent deserve to be tossed in the mud ......i can see that twilight is ok but i leave it at that......to me it has ruined vampires for a whole generation of people....i love music like this

  • @TheKeenanBoy I would think bringing the "teen" audience to a piece of art such as Debussy would be a good thing! Lets face it Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers could rot anyone's brain lol

  • @lauriem925 It feels like its being introduced in the wrong context, that's all.

and yes, complete agreement on the second sentence.

  • @lauriem925 Im glad im one on those teens that listens to this and not that trashy like you said.

  • Great photos and music! Could you please tell me where you got all these photos (maybe google image, but then by what keywords?)

  • If Twilight brought this piece of music to people that would have not otherwise listened to it - then more power to Twilight! Maybe they will listen to more of Debussy's genius! As to sharing it .... what better way could you reach a zillion people?

  • Beauty enrobed in soft serenity.

  • I love it! <3

  • awesome! peace2u! eric

  • google bought youtube, all under control!

  • How to send this video to friends from you tube?

Youtube ruined a lot of things ,to reduce sharing video especially political troubles.

Google bought youtube too,no wonder all under controll!

  • It was used in the movie "The Right Stuff" as well, with powerful effect, as Chuck Yeager tried to reach space in a common jet fighter. It epitomises the struggle upwards, the ascention, towards heaven.

  • @Copernicus53 -- your comment, like few others I've read, truly gets to the heart of the piece. Thank you for your review.

  • love this :)

  • Lol, Music from the game Zelda Ocarina of Time is stolen from this song

or other way around but I doubt that :P

  • I'd like to know who the pianist is. He or she sounds a lot like Guillermo Rosales.

  • Hehe, I can't help but think of several 'classic' hentai that had this song. Yea, I know, totally wrong, but hey, its the perfect music for love-making.

  • Lets not forget this song was also in Oceans Eleven( the recent one). It's a beautiful piece of music and people are going to exploit it at some point. It makes me happy that anyone has ever heard it. Twilight is, was, and always will be an awful movie but i like that someone who might not have ever been exposed to such good music might finally be.

  • I felt they used it quite tastefully with oceans 11.. i don't know about this twilight nonsense.. i haven't heard it but i can imagine its awful :P

  • @Timoth1983 could not have said it any better ....

  • @Timoth1983 I wish i could argue with that point but it's so true.

  • Great stuff. Want to come and see a translation of the poem that inspired Debussy to compose this extraordinary piece of music? Come and visit 'Clair de Lune' on my channel.

  • i can't explain this but when i listen to this piece it awakens something in me, except i can't explain what it is. all i know is that it's pretty awesome

  • the reason for my middle name...claire...comes from this song. my dad loves this song. even though i only listen to rap music..this song is always in my life and i love it.

  • Lol... rap "music"...

  • it's not a sad song, it just makes u think about things, think about being alone.. and it describes the moon so correctly.. and then when i look at the moon the song comes in my head

  • I've loved this song forever...it was one of my late father's favorites and every time I hear it it reminds me of him. But it doesn't bother me a bit that it was featured in Twilight--it broadened the musical horizons of a whole new generation. How can that be a bad thing? Exquisite music like this is for everyone.

Thank you so much, Enigma 19522, for the breathtaking post.

  • Yeah go Blade! but i think hes too busy fighting the blood sucking vampires known as the IRS

  • It's a shame this song is now tied to Twilight. Lets just hope Blade turns up in the next Twilight movie and fucks them up good.

  • anyone who does't want to tie this master piece with twilight must give macapacka's comment a thumbs up! *hope blade turns up...*

  • Any person who pairs this song with Twilight should perish.. :)

  • i agree but however we have forgot one thing, debussy wrote this piece for every one to enjoy not for selfish people like us.... and i don't think debussy will mind if they put this song on twilight ,as long as we all enjoy it...besides it isn't that bad when it 's on twilight...it bings more people to the classical music world and we have to be glad of it...

    no offend though...:)

  • for cHiKaDiNg58

  • I totally understand that. It's just that it's sad well for me... if someone says: "That song is so cool! It's from Twilight right?" A personal experience when I was trying a piano for canvassing purposes.. I haven't even seen Twilight. I would have appreciated the comment if it was: "That piece is so cool! Debussy composed that right?" =D

  • Too right. Talking about films though, it was used well in the survival horror 'Dog Soldiers'. Wasn't used much, but they probably couldn't afford the rest of it haha.

  • OMG! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU! I hate it when people use it as fashion and pretend to get dibbs on it! YOU CAN'T CALL DIBBS ON IT GOD DAMMIT! Doesn't matter how long you've been liking this piece for!

  • I died a little inside upon reading this :((

  • seriously.

  • fffffffffffuck.....chills and tears.

  • beautifully presented

  • I'm a woman, and that's still disgusting.

  • My new years resolution is too learn this piece. It's so beautiful, just gives me shivers every time I hear it.

  • It's very flowing and gentle. Caire de Lune is wonderful.

  • I love pictures are very beutiful.Good work.

  • this is the first and only song that has made me cry.

  • yep ..if any song was gonna make you cry, this one is way up there.

theres no shame in crying over beautiful music

  • I love this version the best of all. It has so much more emotion than if you play the music literally/mechanically. I never could understand how people could take an beautiful song and play it like a robot would.

  • fantastics

    words can not explain

  • The first time I heard this played was at a Victor Borg concert (yes, that Victor Borg), he played it very much like this. It was the first time I had ever felt enveloped by the music. Beautiful beyond words.

  • A master!!!

  • This is a beautiful work. It is sad that to many people know it however and they all think that if you dont know this song then "ohh you must not know how to play the piano at all then"...aghhh i love this song regardless...makes me feel so empty inside.

  • this is the greatest rendition of this song. period. just as amazing as debussy's own piano roll, if not more so. it brings me to the sky and somewhere else every time.

  • I don't know if it's the "greatest" rendition of Clair de Lune, it sounds rather generic, and true to the original composition. Check out Jose Iturbi 1940's recording, which I'd argue can hold its own against this much newer recording.

  • I disagree, its much too fast and cramped up. This one is very expressive and flowing. I personally think its the best.

  • I think I know why you say its much too fast...you probably heard the same source that I did...there's a lot of variation in the RPM speeds of various equipment...not all spin @ 78...the source you heard was 80 or more rpm--giving it that "fast" quality.

  • this is very peaceful music...i like it very much

  • This pieces of classical music from Claude Debussy , has always been my favorite piece of classical music. I close my eyes and drift off into another dimension of peacefulness to my soul.

  • me too ....

  • speechless!!

  • Wonderful

  • Beautyful, close your eyes and fly into another world. Take your dream and make them true!!!

It´s a part of "Frankie and Johnie" Soundtrack and a beautyful movie!!

  • i play this on moonlit nights...i miss my piano...wish it can be restored soon....

  • Comment removed

  • i admit when i first heard this song it was on twilight but ever since ive loved this song and truly it does take you somewhere else peaceful

  • Beautiful

  • yes totally

  • Listening to this late at night, I can close my eyes and "it" all goes away for awhile.
