Nah, if you notice most of Daigo's matches against experienced or high level players in competitions, he tends to lose-winwin or win-lose-win his rounds. Especially in SFIV. I suppose he takes the first round to observe patterns and mistakes and then systematically attacks them. Same reason why he does terrible against Alex Valle, cos Valle consistently changes attack patterns.

This isn't like the olympics, it's a video game where it's possible for anyone to achieve the same level of success by copying each other, whereas in the olympics you have to basically train from a super young age to even have a glimmer of hope of doing anything in the sports. Daigo has so many copycats in the SF community it's unreal. He's not a hero to anyone, he's just an innovator, one that derives nothing but competition from other people.

Daigo's matches are always interesting to watch. At times, it seems like he's having trouble, but eventually he understands the opponent's particular style and adapts to beat them.

If there is one thing I cannot stand about people who comment on this game is that they think the so called "top tier" people is the only way to win, and that the SA arts make the characters win. This isn't Mortal Kombat people, it's fucking street fighter....where our normal moves do more damage than most of the SA arts. It's not the same concept for everyone. We don't all rely on playing those three, they are just more popular characters to play.

And when I look at the tier list, I keep playing with those mid/low tier characters because I play the best with them.

well truly great players like kuroda and hayao certainly seem to make teir chars seem higher tier than the opponent, but i don't think it's a coincidence that everyone who uses yun ken and chun uses the same super (their best). equally it's not such a surprise that yun ken and chun are so commonly picked and are disproportionately common and at amatuer level it's the same too. 50% of fights involve ken chun or yun when fighting decent players. it's not an accident

Taunts have a purpose. I don't remember what Yun's does but Ken's will increase the damage of his next combo significantly so its not just to piss off the other player, although there is that aspect of it. However, if you're going to taunt, make sure you have the time to do so. Otherwise you get punished and don't get the benefit either.
