  • You're not a film maker or a social commentator. You're just a dumb broad who learned how to work a camera.

  • @shaggybus29, that's "conscience", not conscious.

  • @QualityTimeChannel Maybe he meant she's only awake in crowds.

  • wow you couldve found that lamp for a dollar at a thrift store

  • The Resident for president!

  • Who the fuck pays 300 dollars for a lamp? Or 5000 dollars for a computer? The world is fucked.

  • Welcome to the matrix

  • Dont buy crap, buy precious metals and take pride in that. You can hit an ounce of silver with a hammer 1000 times and still b able to sell it easily because of what it is.

  • i want to bust my nuts on her face!

  • Brilliant ending! :D

  • psh, she has a sidekick? Get with the times girl, you need a fucking IPHONE

  • @burgerkingmurders ..."the times" were Nov 11, 2006 (video uploaded)

  • What an irritating wannabe cow.

  • @MsKat1972- I don't hope for her or anyone to get robbed..ever. I was just expressing frustration at a spoiled girl looking for an excuse to show off. The stuff in the video totals $12,133 (almost half of my total income last year) and is just toys and icing. If rich people have fancy stuff, fine, just don't publicly inventory it while saying you hate it. If it bothered her that much the video would have ended with a trip to Goodwill. But do I wish for something bad to happen to her? No.

  • We're also making fun of consumerism with our "still using" channel. Pretending that using outdated technology is like drug use that needs to be cured. Because that's the message we get from ads and media. Gotta have the latest iPad, iPhone, etc. We're hoping that other youtubers (you, for example!) will come and share their usage of "outdated" technology...

  • This vid is probably to show what NOT to become if you don't want the label "consumerist" and admitting that she is one and wants to change.

  • cool video!!! love it!!! what's wrong with all these comments? At least she realizes it before it's too late, give the girl a break!!! there's still alot of people out there that doesn't realized it like my lil cousins, them teenagers are sooooo hard to convince!

  • ur sexxxxxay

  • I hope you didn't actually pay all of that money for that shit. If you did, you are an idiot.

  • nice that the corps are getting in on the anti consumer message. Good one.

  • Comment removed

  • You don't need to spend all that money on that stuff.

You just need to show your boobies to me and I will make you feel worth while.

    I promise.

  • hey dude....what's this song?

  • Well, for a person with all that nice stuff, you sure look like crap.

  • You're not made to feel that way. Don't be weak.

  • @halflinks We can only hope...

  • how do you have any money left LOL?

  • I like that you're talking about the issue of consumerism... it's not talked about enough and I'd like to hear you delve into this issue further.

  • Create a video, get money and buy more shit!

    Hypocrit bitch.

  • Want not, waste not.

  • Bonjour, I'm a Marxist and very against consumerism, I happily live life socialising, reading and most importantly, discovering. Although I must admit that it is consumerism that gives development and technology that little bit of a push; similar to war.

What do you (yes you) think?

  • you seem to have way too much money as it is, mrs. i dont have that kind of money to blow on TVs, shoes and bedsheets. The last major purchase I made was a pair of shoes, I purposely bought ones that were comfortable and durable because I didnt want to have to go and buy more. they cost me £40 and I only bought them because my old pair were worn out beyond repair. Do I shop like this because im poor? Not really, I just dont want to be screwed by the obvious con that is consumerism

  • The Venus Project has proposed a new system that promotes health, sustainable living, food production, technological improvements, and better education. It also solves the problem of world hunger and poverty.

Please research The Venus Project here on youtube. I'm sure your time is occupied with other media, but I think you will agree with their ideas. Then spread this important knowledge to everyone you know so we can end this Consumerism garbage.

  • This is exactly what is going on out here, the same people who sell you the idea are the same people who 1, buy into it. 2, Advertise it. & 3, take the piss....Lol

    Non compliance is the way...

    Peace & Light

  • telling the truth but you,ve no need to be so pretty..

  • it's like internet fart. useless air.

  • governments makes profit off the destruction of the earth, does this sound human to you ?

  • im too lazy to make my own videos

  • Check out my latest video on Affluenza if you like this video. Cheers. Thanks for sharing.

  • U r beautiful and intelligent and I very much like the fact that u don t delete negative comments. Keep on !

  • so let me get this straight, your idea of a social commentary about consumerism is to make a video showing off all of the expensive shit you have? You paid more for 6 pairs of jeans than I did for my work truck. You ARE comsumerism at its worst. Stop acting like you have a social conscious by getting all dolled up and posing with your yuppie furnishings/clothes.

  • @Shaggybus29 I hope your work truck is up to emissions standards.

  • @Shaggybus29 - she just laid out where she lives in another video, and now she displayed all her shit in this one. She not too smart for a white gurl. She gonna get robbed!

  • @Shaggybus29 Smashed it mate. Well said.

  • @Shaggybus29 you just took a proverbial axe and fucking murdered this narcissistic bitch. exposed her for what she truly is - a phony. she's a fake and a pseudo-nonconformist because it's cool. it was awesome.

  • I don't believe this girl.

  • Tyler Durden, fight club.

  • We've all been raised by television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars. But we won't; and we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

  • I see all this potential, and I see it squandered. Goddammit, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables, slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man; no purpose or place. We have no Great War, no Great Depression. Our Great War is a spiritual war. Our Great Depression is our lives.

  • It's called self-control - willpower. It IS true that advertising uses psychological techniques to get people to want shit they don't need (google "Edward Bernays" and check out Adam Curtis' documentary "The Century of the Self") but really, people need to stop behaving like petulant, whiny little children and blame the advertising industry for what is, at it's core, their own weak mindedness and shamlessly stupid herd mentality. Be a fucking individual and take responsibility for your life!!!!

  • @IvanTheHeathen Yours is the wisest comment I've read in a long time.

  • great video excellent points -- on top of dealing with the "crap" we have people who are unhappy about life, their marriages, their jobs......people focus on the wrong things......

  • ahahah ur a consumer whooore

  • ugh i hate the sound your voice. I hope this ruins your day-how dare you use SOAD music you sell out. ur part of the system. BE REAL

  • Today, for sam prize you can buy only shit that will fall apart for 6 months-1 year.

  • One thing that I hate from democratic countries is CONSUMERISM. I was born in war tornado in Croatia when Yugoslavia was falling appart. I always Listened my parents and asked them: "How were you living in Yugoslavia if you weren't a member of a party and if you wasn't against communism?" They say: there was less choice of clothes, boots, shoes, etc., but everything was made in good qaulity and it was chep and you could wear some shoes for 20-30 yeras like they were new.

  • Renegade has the right idea...Consumerism, or whatever you want to call it has taken over, just like drugs we are struggling every day to feed our souls with the feeling of being 'whole'. There's no need to look further than ourselves, for blame or answers...

  • Consumerism feeds an abscess of fat-ass capitalists that deprive humanity of the energy it could have used to grow in a productive direction. Instead of finding solutions to the problems threatening to devastate the planet, all resources just go into a pustule.

  • Ironic. Someone who buys six designer jeans worth over 1400$ complaining about consumerism. Believe me bitch, that ship has sailed... you have no right to speak. You're only SAYING this shit to exploit the message in order to increase your video's hits, and keep that check coming in which you WILL spend on more shit.

  • It's not easy to change. At least she's recognizing there's a problem with that way of living and she's making an attempt to stop being that way.

  • When all our jobs are in China, consumerism will be gone from the US.

  • Ahh too true. We all live in a consumer world....but knowing that crap doesn't make you happy is half the battle.

  • so much crap

  • Baby, u rock! BTW, I think I know you but just can't tell? Where are you from?

  • Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can.

  • >Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can.

I sure can imagine that ..... it's called communism.

    Now have a look here:

    video . google . com/videoplay?docid=-594683847743189197

You will have to remove all the spaces in the link above. Let me know what you think, it's 120 minutes movie but it's all critical information there.

  • Oh, and try Freeganism. I haven't gone that far yet, but I'd like to...the microwave has me trapped in that respect.

  • I've been bemoaning consumerism for some time now and living with the basics since. It's easy once you get into it, but the biggest challenge is picking up the essentials in the supermarket.

My advice; Write a list of the things you NEED, then SPRINT through the shop, taking care not to look at anything on the shelves. It's only when you try this that you realise just how effective advertisements really are, even just on the packaging.

  • If people only bought the things they really needed, the economy would collapse.

  • Maybe the would be a good thing.

  • 1400 on jeans what the f#@k 20 shoes god d@%$m you just killed every fantasy of you being my girlfriend d!*%m thats a lot of money s%#t

  • lol, yeh! i totally second you on that.

  • 'The TV making you feel like you NEED a product' is called ADVERTISING.

Yes they're trying to make you buy useless crap, but in the end its your decision, they're just trying to pursuede you.

  • The method is outlined in many advertising books.

    1. Present an image of an idealised lifestyle (sex, popularity, wealth, leisure time etc).

    2. Inculcate a sense of envy or loss (you don't have this lifestyle).

    3. Present the product.

    4. Make the link (if you buy this product you will have this lifestyle).

The problem is that it is a very short fix and leaves the consumer even more dissatisfied afterwards.

That's why depression is epidemic in our society.

  • your stupid

  • Learn the difference between "your" and "you're."

  • You need an apostrophe.

  • well now i start to like you

  • you've got some expensive crap!

  • I know it is annoying of me too keep needing mre and more things I spend like one thousand dollars a month on crap I dont need

  • so she gets funding from commercial sponsors & yet SHE is the one talking about mindless consumerism???

    That's very ironic.

  • I love you.

  • That's why i wear the re-useble diapers

I am John Mccain and I approve this message.

  • you've touched on a valid topic thats more and more interesting to me. However, our culture is saturated with consumerism and our livelihood and sustainability has become dependent on this very fact. I guess we can all live like its 1820? or it looks like we'll just continue digging our graves with plastic bags and outdated ipods - what a mess we've gotten ourselves into aye?

  • yet...you still do it...you're one of the most fake people I've seen, yet you're complaining about people like yourself.

  • Is that why you sell shirts and buttons on your webite, you hypocrite?

  • I need to buy myself a thick lipped opinionated brunette like this. Then I'd have to buy a little cage to keep her in. Then a new belt to spank her with when she makes naughty videos.

  • Gotta love System of A Down!...That's one crazy rock band!

  • Wow nice rack for $300 bucks! Does crate and barrel do surgery too? Or is that extra? hahah

  • are you wearing make up for ironic effect?

  • VERY SMART... 5 STARZ!

  • lol its ironic that a mac pac is being advertised to me on this page.

  • well its nice that you have $800 to spend on bedsheets and £3000 to spend on a TV. I agree with you that consumerism encourages us to buy crap but you're obviously a rich kid if you have that kind of money to throw around, so what do you care?

  • Thats not really what she is getting at. ^_^

  • You cant say, "I am who I am and theres nothing I can do about it" Thats just an excuse. YOU ARE WHAT YOU DO REPEATEDLY. Change what you do, what you say, what you believe, in the end, its up to you

  • My ego NEEDED these things to justify myself as happy, cool, fun, complete. You knwo what, even with all these things, I never have felt complete. Only now do I realize that this is all a bogus mindset that society impresses upon us. "Buy this, and youll be cool, you'll be happy, all your frinds have it" I say fuck that. If you want to be happy, find it inside yourself. If you dont like who you are, change. No crying, no bullshit.

  • I am not about to read all your comments. My comment in itself is enough. My feelings on consumerism; the other day i was sitting here, in my room, looking at all the things I have collected over my life. I got to thinking... how much time have I spent, how many YEARS have i spent, paying for all this? I never use any of it. It sits there, like a reminder of the consumer in myself that I have killed.

  • rez, a lot of your vids are very liberal (e.g. illegal aliens)... this one is actually conservative... I wear swim trunks and T shirts, I ride a bike to as many places as I can (shopping, breakfast, etc.), I do not have an iPod (I use a Optimus CD player with Grado labs phones), I buy as little as possible, fully justify it when I do... and then enjoy the heck out of it... I did finally buy a 50" HDTV, but only because my tube blew up... consumerism is a result of ego... and it will destroy us.

  • People will always act in their self interest; nature designed us that way. If you want to change human behavior, create a set of incentives designed to achieve the desired end. There's nothing wrong with consumerism (in moderation) per se. The Leftists critical of consumerism imply we should be "above" that sort of thing. You know...donate some time to Habitat For Humanity instead...or pop down to the locale commune and bake some cookies. Civilization is an economic miracle. don't knock it.

  • lol "nature designed us"? God designed us and man fell and now it is our sinful nature to turn to what the world says will make you complete instead of what God says will make you complete. (just thought I'd give a headsup)

  • ROTFL! Have fun with your invisible sky daddy.

  • what are you talking about?

  • fail ...

  • yeah, good call

  • Put half that in the market, grow the economy and take ~12-18% for your troubles.

You'll thank me in about forty years.

  • People, do yourself a favour and watch the documentary The Corporation. Enough of this insipid consumerism masquerade of E-Bay. The Resident is just yet another marketing tool to brand, brand, brand so you behave like a good consumer.

  • obvsiouly u use a mac computer...you artsy freak :D

  • You have too much money and too much spare time ! Spend less of both in the pursuit of overpriced goods which will be obselete in a month and maybe get some friends or something.

  • Is someone paying you to advertise the crap you already have? Because it makes me feel like I don't have enough crap.

  • fuck you ruining our planet you should all be tortured die fuckfaces

  • lair that lcd can't be worth 3grand :| one could get like sony bravia or like a big ass screen

  • You probably need to stop yourself from buying stuff. Its not the medias fault or companies. Companies are just trying to sell their products so they have to advertise. FIGHT with your own power.

  • The funniest part of that is a little advertisment for random crap that is now played on certain YouTube videos just goes to show how screwed up things are getting in this country and priorities are going out the window fast.

    Not even Calgon can help..

  • Being against mindless consumerism does not mean that you have to be a caveman; that is a ridiculous asumption. Buying a bunch of expensive crap that is completely unnecessary is pointless. There are better uses for your money. Like for example helping children in Africa! or helping solve the global warming problem!

  • consumerism helps drive the economy but the economy can't grow forever. Eventually we will run out of resources that we can use and the economy will crash. That time will not be too far unless something is done.

  • If by "soon" you mean several hundreds or possibly thousands of years, then sure. The entire global economy will "crash" soon. >_>

  • Don't confuse consumerism which is good and helps to drive the economy and human passions with greed which is a bad form of consumerism in which lying, cheating, and stealing result from your desire to consume. Because if it were truly consumerism you were agianst you'd walk the walk and get rid of all your materialistic goods and live like a cave man or uni-bomber!

  • They're making you feel that way? Shut off your damn TV and don't associate with TV people.

  • SYSTEM OF A DOWN!!!

  • It's so easy to say that when you can afford what you want. I take it you're bored and spoiled...

  • Or she just has a job. For fuck sake, how is she spoiled? She's not living with her parents, she's an adult. She doesn't look bored, has a pretty interesting hobby right here. It's social commentary. Don't take everytthing she's saying so seriously.

  • How about you give some of that money to kids in 3rd world country's and buy cheaper stuff.

your precious video gets 1 star

  • Do you donate 90% of your disposable income to charity? No, you probably don't, or you'd be on the street. Don't tell other people what to spend their hard earned cash on.

    And it's countries*, btw.

  • You should donate your stuff to charity and shop at thrift stores.

  • Wow this is so true. I also can't stand how the world thinks we need a bunch of crap. I like to think I'm being a rebel. Our main family car is 11 yrs old. I've never paid more than $400 for a TV. I usually wear my clothes about 10 years before I get rid of them, and I find some of my favorite items at places like Salvation Army and Goodwill. About half of our furniture was given to us. Yet still, I've had this battle with crap. Keep up the good fight!!

  • I agree. My vice is video games. I keep buying them. I already have video games (many many of them) I need to stop.

  • What a crap video. 20 pairs of shoes? You clearly have far too much money. Just keep on consuming.

  • She was trying to make a point. It obviously went over your head.

  • Far too much money? o_O

20x(say, 200USD) $4000; that's nothing if you're an adult earning minimum wage or higher. Should she just say "Hey, don't pay me this week, I have enough." You're very immature, or possibly a child.

  • I bet she made fun of people who bought clothing at the Thrift Shops...Look Ads today are misleading or just plain false. What happen to false advertising Ads are the GATEWAY TO BRAINWASHING proof is in the puddin.Anyone up for a Magic Elixir 20%off this weekend only, get it while supplies last lol...She may be proud of that $12133.00 that was spent on trash, new shit next year dopes

  • What basis is there to this rambling comment? Has she ever made any commentary that people with 2nd hand clothes are inferior? No, she hasn't. Your point is utterly baseless and frankly, drivel.

  • I bet she made fun of people who clothing at the Thrift Shops...Look Ads today are misleading or just plain false. What happen to false advertising Ads are the GATEWAY TO BRAINWASHING proof is in the puddin.Anyone up for a Magic Elixir 20%off this weekend only, get it while supplies last lol...

  • Where the fuck does she shop?

If you don't count food, I likely don't spend as much as any of that A MONTH.

  • Thats the engine that drives our economy. But it isnt sustainable. We have plenty of natural resources to exploit, for now. I hope the standard business models and accounting practices radically changes in the future.

  • yeah we need to start being smart consumers, but this was really witty and looks like you had a lot of fun with it

  • if you reaaallly wanted to prove a point you'd burn half that shit

  • why do people like her always use fuckin macs?

what can you do with a fuckin mac that you can't do with a pc, other than feel good cause you're different... even though you haven't stopped to consider why everyone else is using a pc..

  • you got some great crap there - kudos : p

  • This pressure on consumers allows production to continue beyond their needs, keeping companies in business. It is worth mentioning here that the free world will never be free until people stop being good consumers and start being good citizens.

  • Burn 3 of those items which you just showed and maybe I'll take you a bit more seriously. Then again what's the point of trying to prove something to one person, and for that matter, to all the people watching? So what's the real reason you made the video? Self-indulgence? Seems like your kind of character is a dime a dozen. Don't forget, judgement from one person means nothing.

  • Mr. Pot, meet Ms. Kettle. Oh, you think she looks black, do you?

Please shut up, you smug ass.

  • i want to go all over her face...anyone else??

  • stop posting weird comments, freedom of speech but really think about what you say man

  • oh my last comment was to UWseattle. i'm kinda new at this

  • Typical, Miss Know-It-All gives us a short lecture on consumerism while she indulges in her own petty bourgeois lifestyle.

Keep flaunting your looks to get lonely, pathetic men to drool over your videos because, that's the only thing you've got going for you. ;D

  • ur the dumb fuck who bought it all

  • $358.00 for a damn purse??? Dear God you should really stop, sit and think before you shop. Seriously. I'll bet there's about $25.00 worth of material in it and you paid that much because it was "designed" by some Eurofag.

  • Wow, you are really in no position to lecture us about consumerism. How can you spend all this time making videos AND blow all that money?

  • no matter what you say, I love to see you

  • and I have to add....I'm completely addicted 2u. LOL

  • I think the way she talks is weird, if she would only speak more normaly without rolling the eyes or open them so much that you can see almost what's behind, it would be more interesting to listen. I just get to know this talkshow host today, think that she is pretty but her way to talk is too theatrical and artificial.

  • honesty is endearing. you could one day be a highly successful talk show host with marginal opinions.

dependent trendy personal style and bi polar vulnerability are programmed into people then capitalized upon.

using your power to state somewhat obvious lifestyle issues....

    is that worth doing

go someplace different. read something heavy

true confidence doesn't play on the fears of others

you keep complaining of artists with no cred

get some while you have time

  • I pretty much never buy new stuff until my old stuff stops working. The only thing I continuously upgrade is my computer as it's my primary source of entertainment when I'm bored.

  • squirt squirt squirt all over u face babe!

  • You're disgusting. Get a life.

  • who's the man paying for all your crap? get a richer man lol

  • yeah just call me lori

  • the simple life is the best life. so was the conclusion of Albert Einstein. less crap, the better. :)

  • If you can't resist the urge to abstain from new crap you should try my new penis toothbrush.

  • Are you holding off on buying crap! It sounds like your videos aern't doing good. That is what I do from time to time when I don't have any money. I hold off on buying new crap. That is when I play with my old crap until I get enough money to buy new crap. I like new crap. Old crap is boring. New crap is good. It is all nice and fresh and has the new-fresh-crap smell tha you only get when you buy new crap.

  • Wanting more crap...priceless

  • Indeed.. I do find this one just as trivial as the rest.. The more I watch the more I'm annoyed. I thought your so called show would be interesting... I wasted my time... Its time to kill myself

  • film a porno

  • Hahah Nice one...AGAIN!

    -Cress Ferriera.

  • Did you have to purchase those items on your credit card?

  • lol she sold her soul to satan

  • ...trivial as the rest

  • i think the resident is a poster child for consumerism dont buy any for techno rubbish save your food and money for global economic clolapse. check out derrick jenson on u tube

  • Very interesting video! I consider myself a minimalist and I'm about to make a video on the subject, so I decided to research what people had already done and found this. It's great fun to watch self realization in action.

  • By the way Great vid! 5/5 what song did you use?

  • I know what you mean about the whole needing to feel complete by buying more crap...in fact I had realized it before ever seeing this video cuz I could never come up with a solid reason on why I needed something...and I realized I didn't need it anymore!

I hope this makes sense. ^^'

  • Hahaha! Too much crap! I like this one a lot! 20th pair of black shoes...150$...hahaha

  • Damn girl! you got a lot of stuff!!!! ... clearly i'm missing the point, my mom smoked pot when i was brewin

  • bored , lonely , seprated from the natural world , then youll blunder through that natural world seeking what was stolden, only too bring your lonely frustration and your lack , distroying that natural world in frustration and lack , after that distruction you build a temple that would house me

(if i survive) locking me in that cage you ran from

  • Again, funny and very true! All coming from a beautiful woman, very nice, intelligence and beauty, dangerous! Peace!

  • I only buy booze, cigs, and video games, The Resident.

  • LoL i wanted to say you only had 5 pair on jeans (too much beer :D )
