Spiritual polygamy still thrives in the Mormon church! Read Doctrine and Covenants Section 132 which is currently part of Mormon Inc.'s official doctrine.
It seems like a "bit of a hustle", to assign that Capn Cook guy to be the official spokesperson, on this topic: instead of the usual Mahlon Jenson kind of spokesman. Cook "artfully crafts" his bit of weaving, into that wondrous PR tapestry (and image), that all morms have learned to love!
And, I had thought that Paul H. Dunn was the best G.A., at the loom: spinning lovely mormon yarn!
I will now have to revise my ranking of those in the "Who's Who, of Pious Mormon Pomp"!
Director of Public Affairs for the Queensland Church of Latter Day Saints, Grant Pitman, said the Mormon religion was one of the fastest growing faiths in Australia.
“The likes of Folau and Setu have seen the profile of Mormons raise, but the faith is growing very fast here anyway,” he said.
Joseph Smith (founding prophet) had 33 wives, Brigham Young 55 wives, John Taylor 15 , Wilffold Woodruff 10 ( was also sealed in the temple to 336 dead single women) , Joseph F Smith 20 wives ( JFS wives had 13 children after the 1890 prohibition manifesto agreement not to practise plural marriage )
Yet to this day a male member can be sealed/married to more than one wife in LDS temples. ( conditions apply )
I agree. I use to think that Mormons were Polygamists because growing up, that is what I herd. I am Poly though not Gamy, and try to understand all Poly relationships and backgrounds. I do try to clarify the difference for when I say I am Poly, people automatically assume I am Mormon or a swinger. In that aspect, I can relate. Just don't hate us because we don't believe the way you do and there are way more Polygynists then you claim...
But, it is true that "polygyny" and "polyandry" are both included, in the definition of POLYGAMY. So, all you are saying, with the word "polygyny" is that you exclude any relationship based on "multiple men, for every woman", (which is how polyandry is defined).
NOTE: When I learned the difference, I equated polygyny with " many Ginnys" (or, Jenny) and polyandry with many guys named "Andy".
"Monogamy" is the pairing up of one man with one woman.
He often invents trivia games to help the students remember verses and said that everyone in class laughs and learns from the instructional videos he uses. "All of the videos were made in the 1980s. We'll gather around my laptop and laugh about the '80s hairdos and cheesy special effects. They [the students] might not remember something I say, but they'll remember it from the video," he said.
It's why he likes to point out how much ancient and modern people have in common. "We talked about Nephi in the beginning of the year and his relationship with his family. There are some interesting family dynamics. They squabble. We talked about how we can be more like Nephi and not the murmuring brothers," he explained. "They had a lot of the same problems thousands of years ago that we face today."
"As a kid I just read scripture to get through it. As I've grown up, I read them now to look for answers to my own problems," he said. He believes some teenagers have trouble relating to stories from the Book of Mormon.
Even today if a mormon LDS male is sealed in the temple for eternity and his wife dies he can be sealed to another woman for eternity. the church beleives it is the way Christ will live in the millenium when he returns and that it will be practices from then on. Not to raise up seed but practices anyway.
If you are a member like me, you have been misled The church predicted that loads of member would fall away this year because the truth is out, read Todd Comptons book "In Sacred Loneliness"
Are his pants on fire? Cause he is a liar liar. Mormons practiced polygamy and still believe in it. Its how they expect to live avter death as well. The fact is their first seven prophets were polygamous and the seventh died in 1945.
Maybe today ,they not practice polygamy but in the past they did practiced polygamy so don't act that innocent and shut the fuck up!!!!What Joseph Smith did (30 wives)today is no good anymore?Of course not couse today the hole world is looking at you as at a pile of horseshit if you still practice polygamy. But the "holy" Joseph told you else did he not you little snakes you?And by the way :you still believe in the magic underpants ?:))))))))))))
1831 - JS has a revelation saying to practice it (Intro D&C 132)
1833 - JS has another revelation condemning it. "Inasmuch as this church of Christ has been reproached with the crime of fornication, and polygamy: we declare that we believe, that one man should have one wife; and one woman, but one husband, except in case of death, when either is at liberty to marry again." (D&C, 1835 edition Section 101:4)
19...if a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law...it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit
20 Then shall they be Gods, because they have no end...everlasting to everlasting, because they continue;then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be Gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them.
21 Verily, verily,I say unto you, except ye abide my law ye cannot attain to this glory.
3- There is no term which has been revealed yet - however it is not called polygamy it is called Plural Marriage. We are unsure of how it actually plays out except for that it was revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith. This practice of marrying another woman is ancient was still practiced throughout many parts of the world.
How absurd to think Mormons have any connection to polygamy! Sheesh those are just down right evil lies propagated by those evil anti mormons!
Mormons and polygamy should never ever be used in the same sentence. I repeat, I did not have sex with THAT woman! And I repeat, Mormons have no connection to polygamy.
why? mmm probley because they are not mormons ! they don't even pratice polygamy correctly and are abusive to their own and unchrist like . and give us a bad image because everyone thinks that they are still part of the main church which they are not !
Well you say it is absurd but it isn't really is it. The man you consider to be the greatest of all people save for Jesus only had upwards of 33 wives. Many of them were teenagers and about 12 of Joseph's wives were already married to other men.
Also, you say mainstream mormons do not practice polygamy but your sealing practices say otherwise. Upon the death of his wife, a man can be married to and sealed to another woman. Within Mormon theology, this constitutes a multiple wife situation.

Look at Mormon God's erratic stance on polygamy
1829 - The BOM in Jacob 2:27 forbids it
1831 - JS has a revelation saying to practice it (Intro D&C 132)
1833 - JS has another revelation condemning it. "Inasmuch as this church of Christ has been reproached with the crime of fornication, and polygamy: we declare that we believe, that one man should have one wife; and one woman, but one husband, except in case of death, when either is at liberty to marry again." (and excuse me for my awfull english, please)
1. do mormons beliefe in eternal marriage?
2. can a mormon, who has been married in the temple marry another women in the temple, after the first woman died?
3. what do you call a man who is married to several women AFTER DEATH?
I tell you, what You call it: a celestial commandment!
I always was afraid of dying before my husband does, because: I DO NOT WANT TO SHARE MY HUSBAND WITH OTHER WOMEN, WHEN I AM DEAD!

Why must the mainstream LDS be offended when a Fundamentalist Mormon calls himself a " Fundamentalist 'Mormon?'"
Fundamentalist Mormons are more Mormon than mainstream LDS any day of the week.
For the LDS mainstream to do a 180 on the beliefs of the church is apostacy at its finest.
