It seems like a "bit of a hustle", to assign that Capn Cook guy to be the official spokesperson, on this topic: instead of the usual Mahlon Jenson kind of spokesman. Cook "artfully crafts" his bit of weaving, into that wondrous PR tapestry (and image), that all morms have learned to love!

I agree. I use to think that Mormons were Polygamists because growing up, that is what I herd. I am Poly though not Gamy, and try to understand all Poly relationships and backgrounds. I do try to clarify the difference for when I say I am Poly, people automatically assume I am Mormon or a swinger. In that aspect, I can relate. Just don't hate us because we don't believe the way you do and there are way more Polygynists then you claim...

But, it is true that "polygyny" and "polyandry" are both included, in the definition of POLYGAMY. So, all you are saying, with the word "polygyny" is that you exclude any relationship based on "multiple men, for every woman", (which is how polyandry is defined).

NOTE: When I learned the difference, I equated polygyny with " many Ginnys" (or, Jenny) and polyandry with many guys named "Andy".

"Monogamy" is the pairing up of one man with one woman.

Even today if a mormon LDS male is sealed in the temple for eternity and his wife dies he can be sealed to another woman for eternity. the church beleives it is the way Christ will live in the millenium when he returns and that it will be practices from then on. Not to raise up seed but practices anyway.

Look at Mormon God's erratic stance on polygamy

1829 - The BOM in Jacob 2:27 forbids it

1831 - JS has a revelation saying to practice it (Intro D&C 132)

1833 - JS has another revelation condemning it. "Inasmuch as this church of Christ has been reproached with the crime of fornication, and polygamy: we declare that we believe, that one man should have one wife; and one woman, but one husband, except in case of death, when either is at liberty to marry again." (D&C, 1835 edition Section 101:4)

3- There is no term which has been revealed yet - however it is not called polygamy it is called Plural Marriage. We are unsure of how it actually plays out except for that it was revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith. This practice of marrying another woman is ancient was still practiced throughout many parts of the world.

Why must the mainstream LDS be offended when a Fundamentalist Mormon calls himself a " Fundamentalist 'Mormon?'"

Fundamentalist Mormons are more Mormon than mainstream LDS any day of the week.

Well you say it is absurd but it isn't really is it. The man you consider to be the greatest of all people save for Jesus only had upwards of 33 wives. Many of them were teenagers and about 12 of Joseph's wives were already married to other men.

Also, you say mainstream mormons do not practice polygamy but your sealing practices say otherwise. Upon the death of his wife, a man can be married to and sealed to another woman. Within Mormon theology, this constitutes a multiple wife situation.

at one time mormons believed that polygamy was ok.... why is polygamy wrong now. god doesnt change and god doesnt say its not a sin at one time and a sin now.  the same goes for their beliefs towards blacks.

sence the revalations before polygamy was revealed . We are commanded to obey the laws of the land . still everyone pratices polygamy and thinks nothing of it ! when your spouse dies -you remarry ... when you end a marriage and remarry you still have to BY LAW take care of your 1st wife and kids . some countries like Africa and some arab nations pratice polygamy and still we think nothing of it because their tribal and not anglo-christian . we have always been abolitionists it was timing.
