This episode just goes to show you how weak-minded we've become over the past 30+ years. You'd NEVER see something like that in a television show these days. The very idea of spanking a child on a TV show would get the morality police's britches in a bind. I can see it now...protests outside the studio, angry letters to the cast, boycotts of the advertisers...god, I hate what we've become.

Spanking children isn't right. I was physically abused by a day care center worker when I was 3 and I never told my parents because I thought it was normal. My parents spanked me so I just thought it's what adults did. Maybe we've "become" what we are because what we were before was wrong.

I agree. What happens when you can use your physical power to force your child to respect you? I don't have the right to spank a random stranger, why the hell would I have the right to use force other than self defense on a child? With the constant attack on the constitution, the torture, it has become obvious we have lost faith in due process, the rule of law, and freedom.

I can only speak from my own experience. Sometimes that's all we have to go on. I'm sure it's not the same with everyone else but all I can do is speak from my own percpective. In terms of this particular episode I loved it when Maude spanked the little shit. I just don't believe in it in real life.
