  • "......his roof was over 20 years old". Huh? In Sydney I have done re-roofs on roofs that are pushing 50 years. God bless gal and zinc.

  • Was there any landscape protection done before starting the process? Great video by the way!

  • National building code requires ice and water protection 18 inches along the roof edge, that was clearly not there, however it looked like it was in the valleys.. regardless gaf wont warranty that roof.. also you said the valleys were weaved when clearly they are cut.. junk! And that looked like 3/8 plywood on the roof too, shouldve been upgraded

  • @Blankmania Theres no code saying you HAVE to use shield. Its just something extra to help ensure no leaks. Also, he never said the valleys were actually woven, as a finish. You weave the valleys regardless of what the finish is.

  • @tnybmx I dont know what code book you have but its out of date, since 2002, throughout the entire US, national building code requires 18" from roof eaves to have ice and water and 18 inches from the center of valleys in both directions.. ask your building inspector.. you get away with it because building inspectors usually check to see if the jobs done on roofs, not whether it was done to code

  • @Blankmania I know we have to have ice and water protection in Iowa per building codes. This is the exact wording from the city: "Install ice barrier under shingles extending from edge of eaves to a point 24" past the exterior wall line."

  • @tnybmx and a cut valley as shown in the video, is not woven, one side is laid first and the other side on top, for a woven valley one shingle is laid on one side of the valley then the next shingle is laid on the opposite side, over and over creating the weave
