I don't GET the American quasi-worship of the founding fathers. Sure their important historical figures, but I daresay that in many ways we've surpassed the idea's of even the people of their era who where ahead of their time.

Most of the Founding Fathers were the rich people of the colonies and owned the most slaves. Tomas Jefferson owned over 200 slaves. The Tea Party disappoint me as human beings. I don't GET the American quasi-worship of the founding fathers. Sure their important historical figures, but I daresay that in many ways we've surpassed the idea's of even the people of their era who where ahead of their time.
I mean sure, there where some impressive and admirable people amongst the founding fathers, but so what? That doesn't make them infallible or means they should be worshipped. Arguing ANY human is infallibe, and worshipping ANYTHING is only a path to disaster in the end.

While not all natives were slaughter or tricked into giving up their land. It was still a small group that spoke of them as savages. Still it was acceptable in this time era. However, I still have a great deal of respect for the Founding Fathers because of their commitment to creating the first truly democratic nation in the Western Hemisphere and for penning the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. As Cenk said, Native Americans have almost no political or economic power in the U.S. today.

I spent a lotta time in TN woking & enjoying myself. Nice folks, but in general terms they simply love the idea of being rednecks. It is amazing how proud they are to be so f-cked up in the head. Trashing their restaurants w/peanut shells all over the floor, the Confederate Flags, the abject racism, NASCAR, total obsession w/college sports. Now this. This goes for Georgia, Alabama & South Carolina too. Been there, done that. These are the people who call intelligent, thoughtful people, ELITISTS.

Why even teach in school? Get rid of evolution, climate science, history, multicultural studies, reading,... and who needs mathematics and writing anyway? After all, who needs all that once we kick out the foreign labor and someone needs to pick grapes for the wealthy?

@zregory Do you know where this idea came from to do this, I have not seen it on the Web anyone else unless I missed it. Did one person put this up here? You cannot go an rewrite history. I live in Memphis and were voted 2nd most crime city to live in. The sad part is you have so much black on black crime and killing each other. A week does not go by that this does not happen. We will have a hard time getting companies to move here for jobs, not to mention the ones that have left.

Really sad that the these people are trying to erase parts of history so American history will look like some fairy tale. It's funny how the Tea party constantly claims "they are not racist", "They don't see race", or "I have a black friend so I can't be racist" but then try to erase slavery from the text books.
