There's a big international project being worked on called a "NEOShield" which will essentially function as a global shield, enclosing the Earth. It would basically protect us against any meteors, asteroids, or (maybe) alien threats.

There's also going to be missile silos specifically for launching asteroids from orbit, and satellites to detect them early. Hell, we already know there's one coming in 2036. But with the NEOshield, there's no need to worry.

I like the part which is later on when they requested to receive a huge reward or 'hazard pay'. One was full week package to Caesar's Palace, one is staying at the White House, one was to wipe out all 57 parking tickets and one was never to pay taxes again, ever. Now that is one I would want! Never any taxes again; no paying any sales tax, no income taxes including FICA and medical taxes and no taxes on anything I own. That's thousands saved a year! The only deduction will be health insurance.

@chococta96 Well there is oxygen in the space shuttle in tanks. All it would take is for one to rupture and there would of been enough oxygen and O2 for a spark to set it off. As long as there was air to feed it from the tanks there could be an explosion in the vaccum of space...at least for a few seconds.
