traction bars are designed to reduce rear wheel wind up which can cause the axle/wheels to hop and cause you to loose traction. If you have traction control and a good launch control program trac bars are not needed.

@solosortieSC2 The traction bars are to keep the rear tires from bouncing when accelerating, when you accelerate there is alot of backward twisting stress on the leaf springs the traction bars stop them from twisting so much.

What you have to think about in a race with cars like old school muscle cars is weight. My 67 shelby is one of the lighter muscle cars but is still heavier than most cars now a days. The camaro is made almost entirely of metal while the corvette is made of practicly all fiberglass. While the corvette may launch quicker the camaro would simply catch up shortly after the launch.

The great thing about old school cars i that they're heavier... I know that sounds like contradictory, but if you have a heavier car, you can go faster without as much lift from the air.

This way, you can put a ridiculously overpowered engine into it and outrun any newer cars.

actually the Ford GT was originally made back in the 60's. it was strictly a race car, and pushed about 500hp, only problem, you could hardly find one to buy cuz the sold very well and few were made. theywerent produced again til like you said 2002-2005, but sold for 150k and only offered about 550bhp, and very uncomfortable amenities. there is 1 2004 Ford GT for sale that i know of and its going for i think $164,000. way too much, when you can get the ZR1 for 106k and it has 638bhp...
