Ubuntu is a concept, a belief system, which can negate the ill effects of self-interested capitalism. Capitalists say society functions best when everyone pursues their self interest...what about the splintering of our communities, the increasing narcissism of westernized peoples, the preoccupation with material gain? Self-interested western capitalism is destroying our planet. Consumption, greed and feverish production...ubuntu is peripheral whether think it is or not.

I think that we understand it better then the Africans do as we spend billions upon billions in development aid not asking anything in return.

We have the most extensive welfare states this world has ever seen.

@AmersfoortTristan IF you have actually read history, Civilization or Barbarism or The African Origins of Civilization by PHD Cheik Anta Diop, Herodotus' Histories, or studied the origins of all Western civilization and or religion you will find even the name Europe is actually an African Princess, the city Athen named for an Egyptian goddess Neith or the island of Minos named actually for the first Egyptian Pharoah Menes I....let me know what you find as that was just some of my research to now

@nlpayne4 What actual wealth does Europe have that is not in the form of a bank which is only the representation of real wealth i.e. physical goods, and not the things themselves? Europe simply profits from being able to set exchange rates via Forex (london) as well as by having set up central banks all over the world from the dutch with the Bank of England to the English with the Fed Reserve in USA or the Turkish, Zimbabwe or Nigerian central bank...Europe gets to set the value of currency

So if there are African roots to civilization (and face it: the Egyptians were whites.. I hate to say it but there it is) get your arses off the ground now and start doing something with your fabulously rich continent. Because Africa is so rich we can't possibly imagine it.

I'm not asking you to wish anything to be true which is what the word believe actually means in its Germanic roots (my other major at uni). Rather I was suggesting if you do you own independent research and reading of several books the evidence is clear. If however, you are too intellectually lazy to support your own claims with research or evidence then don't speak of what you 'wish' to be true but what the actual facts of the matter indicate.

@AmersfoortTristan In fact most of what Europeans regard as European, including the aid dollars they 'send' is based upon war profiteering, slavery, or via colonialism either old or neo, not to mention the continued plundering of African and yes Asian resources for its own aggrandizement. How can Europe, be wealthier than the entire continent of Africa if they still import resources from rare earth minerals to prescious metals to coffee, or historical artifacts to museums from the same source?
