They also continued with the codes, R3(5), 5th in the series. I think since the name Skyline was never introduced to the U.S market and the car was still a continuation of previous models (skyline) they simply dropped the name skyline and introduced the car to the U.S as just GT-R r35.

The only reason the Supra beat the GTR towards the end, is because the Supra has more HP, which is ideal for drag racing. just An Alpha 9 GTR would smoke this Supra in all aspects of a race, and not just in high RPM drag. You must not realize how extreme 1500 AWHP is, on a vehicle that shifts ultra fast (-__-).
