I've really been impressed with the Yamaha's and the Arctic Cats. I've had a chance to try several machines and they're my favorites out of the four makes of snowmobiles. It is alot about comfort, power and preferance. Everyone has a different taste. I have a very clean and well kept 1987 Yamaha SRV that is now a 570 cc instead of 540. It's piped and has a longer track and it runs amazingly well for an old sled. Almost landed in the crater of Mt. Baker, Wa. Glacier climbing and all!
ny whole familt rides yamaha and im a big fan, but there is no one best sled. The different companies make different styles and perfrmance models to accomodate different styles of riding and those riders preferences... itd be impossible to make a sled that sould answer to everyones preferences.. Happy sledding!
yeah thats what i'm saying.... everyone got there opinion on what skidoo is better, you like polaris i like brp,if u can get on it and goo for a ride, AWSOME
if you need a good trail sleed just look at european snowcross results 2008. yamaha was the big looser. every brand won more than them. brp sleds ruled..
oh yeah brp is awsome...best skidoos out there, but yamaha is still good tho, to tell you the truth everyone says that that yamaha sucks, this polaris sucks, man no matter what u buy ur gonna have trouble with it. They need to get a life and buy a brp, HAHAHAH
yea it maybe like that where you live. where I live there is no service on snowmobile trails. so it can be real hard on your back if you drive fast with a normal sled. and your suspension can break fast.
My 600 HO SDI 2-stroke doesnt "hesitate" if you know what i mean, i wont talk about the 800R. I might trade it for a yamaha if my boot fits into it! Lol I can do around 800km before adding oil, and the new 600 use only half as much oil. At least its has plenty of power ( 3:04 ), there is never enough power.
Nothing beats Yamaha reliability. All this talk of light sleds, at least a light sled is easy to tow out of the woods. BRP = Bring Rings and Pistons, lol.
I bet that people that cut up the Yammi's have never ridden them. A lot of people keep repeating what their friends say about the weight, and HP. Manufacturers use HP so sell their sleds. Same as car manufactures, because numpties think it means something. Ask anyone who races for a living, and they'll tell you torque is the important factor, Horse Power is a magic phrase that sells machines to people who don't know any better! Torque is the key.
Had the 08 Nytro RTX. Loved the motor but the rest of the sled was a turd. I wasn't about to get the updated front end parts for 1500 then spend another 600 getting all the shocks revalved just to get it to handle correctly. The drivers for the track sucked also, constantly jumping cogs.(yes track was adjusted correctly) Hand warmers sucked balls at best.(Didn't fix for 09 either) Trying an the 09 MxZx 800 this year..Hope it goes better than with the Yamaha.
i have rode a 07 rage gt and 07 apex and i would take my 05 rev 600 sdi any day rides 10 times better then both the yamahas i get 17mpg they get 20 so we fill up at the same time i only have to put oil in every 4 full tanks of gas now i have not rode a new nitro they do look nice but all the other yamaha suck the riding position is like a older sled
The apex is a heavy ugly piece of shit it has the same amount of power as the xp but weighs twice as much. Yamaha and polaris should even compete with ski-doo because they look like a joke. Get a real machine ride ski-doo.
don`t talk crap about polaris. they are the only brand close to beating brp sled. they ruled world championship hillcimb jackson. and the best freestyle sled are polaris 600rr. look at sled head sled of the year 2009 review. polaris and ski doo had the best sleds in almost every class.
my family have owned 12 polaris sled. all of them reliabel and with better handling than any yamaha sled from same time. yamaha have always made heavy sleds with bad suspesion. other brands win snocross races. yamaha win like 5 of 100 snocross races. yamaha did not win one race in 2008 european snocross. lynx won 6/10 race. look at powersportsnetwork riders review. yamaha have lower avg ratings than any other brands. I dont need to say anything more to stupid peopel who talk crap about polaris.
yeah, i had a polaris and she sucked i blew the engin 7 times, and i didn't raz the shit out of her eather. all my friend that saposedly loved polaris were saying....ahh polaris is the best and saying shit abut yamaha, now that they had there polaris and know its a pile os shit they all went and bough a YAMAHA!!!! No matter what anyone says i know polaris is shit and now soo do my friends.
my friends 2007 phazer broke down 4times last winter. and on his other yamaha sled the clutch exploded. if you dont do your service right every thing will break. and all brands have good and bad engines. only one of my friends like yamaha. all other think it is crap. even my brother who race yamaha dirt bikes think that yamaha snowmobiles are shit..
Yeah thats why u bring it to ur dealer to get it serviced ya dumb ass. All my friends LOVE yamaha, my dad reced in championships on his yamaha every race he came in 1st, or 2nd, and ur friend that races dirtbikes......i think dirt bikes are a little different then skidoos.
he use to work at a yamaha dealer. so he know how to service them. and it is no warranty on a turbo tuned yamaha. 2year ago he got in a wheelsheer after a dirt bike race, he dont work at the yamaha dealer any more. cant walk. I have never seen a 4stroke win snocross in real life. yamaha 2stroke won more races and you know it..
factory rides are not stock at all. all the aftermarket part maybe 2-5times more expensive than the sled. even dirt bike factory bikes are expensive like a new ferarri.. and normal peopel cant buy one. not lot of yamaha racers that win snowcross races. have any new stock sled ever won? lot of other racers win on stock sleds. to bad they dont make a sdi 2stroke nytro racing sled. that would win way more races.
Oh i know about skidoos, im just saying everyones fighting over what skidoo is better, no matter what brand you buy ur probley goin to have trouble with it.
just google european snocross results 2008.. polaris was the most sold brand for 15 years. before the ski doo rev chassis came out. you think ts suspension whas good? lol!! or lots plastic parts in front suspension. a 1 year old yamaha stearing use to feels like a 10 year old polaris. yamaha always made heavy 3-4cyl sleds.
4 stokes are tanks soo heavy and no power

there nothing without a turbo...

@sLeDnEcK509 Thats BS,I have a Apex GT short track and that sled is stupid fast.

Does the 2010 sleds still have the mechanical reverse style ???

Yes. You cant run an "RER" type of reverse on a 4-stroke.

Sleds are basically impossible to tell what is better, since everyone has a different prefrence.
So basically there is no such thing as having the best sled and there is no best company.
I'm a Polaris guy, I've always driven Polaris, so obviously I'm going to say Arctic-cat/yamaha/skidoo aren't as good, but that's my opinion.
29ryan49 3 years ago
very good point, some people want to just cruse the trails, and some want to go out boondocking, i like yamaha but all sleds are good.
