Sustainable jobs must come from manufacturing. America must rebuild its manuf base or Savage will be correct about no jobs coming back. Rebuilding that base would mean five years of pain to pay for the 50 years of poor govt leadership on trade. But it would fix the problem.

This is no significant job growth because...the middle management jobs are on the outsource train...multinationals are not hiring in droves in the US..why should they when they get 2/3 cheaper labor overseas? I disagree with Savage on the lack of work. Get rid of minimum wage, workers are beginning to revolt in China and are demanding higher pay, the cost to ship goods from China to here is increasing, this should increase demand for American made goods assuming Obama doesn't pass cap and trade, cut capital gains tax to 0% and work to reduce the deficit to try to spur investment. Remove all illegal aliens, don't allow any foreigners into the US unless they bring an idea or a degree. Sry for rambling
Btw, from what I recall reading about the great Willis Haviland Carrier, he was just a young math and engineering genius fresh out of Cornell University and was assigned the job of finding a way to keep giant manufacturing machines cool, thus he did. But interestingly, some fancy hotel in New York City (I forget which one) did a cool thing;-) of installing them for their guests and, as they say, the rest is history!!

Their salaries are 1/10 of what you earn in the USA, no heathcare, no pension, nothing. Be prepared to pay $20,-- for a simple T shirt.

Oh there is some whom are creating jobs. The federal government is now the largest employer, and has been for some time. To some it's all, "Whatever." To those who have half a brain it's pretty damn scary.

@quirkjerks You've got that right.The state governments are just as guilty.We are rapidly reaching the tipping point where the private sector can no longer finance government ,and the lifetime entitlements its employees receive.Laying gov. workers off wont solve anything either,they will just be joining an already jobless private sector which will also hurt the economy.Either way the gov's solution will be to raise taxes on an already dying middle class, Boy oh boy what a mess.

Read "Not out of Africa" by Mary Lefkowitz. The entire thesis and body of evidence is a no brainer if you have a modicum of intelligence but it does help expose the cult of racism and ignorant bigotry of the Left.

You want to bring back jobs??? Get rid of most of our technology.. I want to see hundreds of mules and horses working in the fields.. No more tractors..Get to cotton picking! No robot welders in auto factories... Get rid of ATMs... Replace all cell phones with bike messengers. We will learn the art of a blacksmith to forge swards and battle axes for our troops..
Or how about we embrace technology... Promote it to end boring and crappy jobs..

@jesusoro707 I agree.. I was pointing out the worker is in competition with technology.. There is plenty of work we "could" do.. but why? And as years go by, technology will become more dominant in the work place and more affordable to employers.. When this happens, you lose your job.. sucks..

@ORVX It's not so much that people have been brainwashed, it's more on the basis of apathy and entitlement. We can't soley blame the government, it's the biological waste we call society as well. People just look for the ways to get over on people or systems. Unfortunately the unthinkable for most is the only solution to correct this infectuous plague of de-evolution.
