  • Beautiful song , beautiful woman

  • Beu

  • My GOD! She's adorable!

  • Does anyone have this song recorded by the Polish singer Violetta Villas? She sang it at Casino de Paris in Las Vegas in the late 1960s.

  • Just love this performance.

  • I read an article years ago in which Petula was interviewed and remember one of the things she commented on was that she did housework NUDE,!! OMG the IMAGE,!!! Beautiful classy lady, beautifully singing a beautiful song.

  • @SuperCharlesmc Now I'll never fall asleep.

  • Pure talent is the true.......now today so different .....

  • Wow , elle a une magnifique voix ! I love it ! ^^

  • Charlie Chaplin! Was für ein gottbegnadetes Genie! Neben all seinen Meisterwerken auch noch das. Legionen von hauptberuflichen (und guten) Musikern haben niemals dieses Niveau erreicht. Er konnte nicht mal Noten lesen!

  • One of the finest vocalist of those wonderful days that have gone by, and yet so rich and pleasant to the ears of those who understand the beautiful melody/harmony of the song.

    Alex Dias (Toronto Canada)

  • A DELICIOUS Rendition......With French included,......Sounds even better that way at the entry. Cut off abruptly at the end. Otherwise...lots of goose flesh as in 1968 for me,, so in love,...then. Now I`m searching for that French Entry. Thats for home only, private Karaoke.

  • this women not only a fantastic voice, she's gorgeous as well.

  • @paginipro

Learn some other descriptive words -- you must be sad......

  • I'm just getting it...Pet was a link to the romantic music of the mid-century, music that soothed the greatest generation. She was smack dab in the middle of the baby-boomers.

  • Beautiful woman - so ladylike. I love her face, I love her hair, love her mini, love the earrings, love her stage moves, love her respectful introduction: "Words and music by Charles Chaplin"

She's the bee's knees! And the song is charming in the extreme, too.

And the song ain't too shabby, either

  • No fireworks, no laser show, no strobe lights...just pure talent.

  • Truly one of the greatest female singers of the 20th century. My parents were big fans, and I listened to her growing up.

I never get tired of hearing Petula's music.

  • People were better looking in the 60s.

  • u go dear Petula,40 plus years and ur music is still heard around the world, thanks 4 ur talent

  • Yes, Petula was the definition of class. She has a wonderful voice...and I just LOVE her songs...they were a big part of my fond memories of growing up in the sixties!

  • English version is excellent by Petula and Engelbert but the French version is where the feelings touch your heart even though you may not understand it.

  • all I can say is WOW!!!!

  • MAGICAL VOICE !!!

  • Love This Is My Song der mich zu DIR geführt!

  • What a performance! Her dress, her charming little dance, her voice!

  • Speaking of class... she had to be persuaded by her label to do this song, as she thought it was trash. Not that this should take anything from the song though. Love Petula, but for this one song, Chaplin must take all praise.

  • This song was in the top 10 in the world charts in 1967

  • Just got back from Las Vegas, where Petula did this song, among many others. What a class act. How delighted I was to relive a bit of the British invasion. The lady's still got it!

  • Nice voice. Face like an angel!

  • the most beautiful song I ever heard.............

  • 1967...prachtig liedje..

  • I love this song. Thanks for posting.

  • So funny that the French lyrics and the English ones have nothing to do with each other at all.

  • This difference makes this song even nicer.

  • She's lovely. One of my favorite Petula Clark songs et chante en francais, c'est tres jolie. Petula, je t'aime bien.

  • Simply beautiful - thank you for posting...

  • Definition - Superstar; Petula Clark.

Definition - For The Ages; Petula Clark.

  • Petula was so Pretty and that Voice! I had a crush on her at fifteen ('65) and have loved her to this day. I got to meet and talk to her many times.........Some of my Dreams came true, I am so lucky. I will always Love The Lady : )

  • my gran used to sing this all the time reminds me of her xxx miss u maggie xxx

  • This song was no.13 in the world-year-end-charts in 1967

  • Perfect! Thank you for posting.

  • our female pop stars just reflect back to us the ugly side of how we honor the feminine and women in society. Of course some 17yo virgin/whore of a singer is what we like as ugly as it is, they dont knoe class as in the old world becuase we live in a.........(dramatic sound) brave new world:)

  • maybe some of the trashbags of today the so called female singers lol should sit their asses down and watch this.. THIS is the definition of CLASS.. they could never compare to this

  • I'm with you. Her combination of beauty and talent is indeed her country's national treasure. No other female voice has ever affected me like hers.

  • i agree with you , she is fantastic, in everyway roberbotticelli, LOVE THIS LADY VERY MUCH, LOVE YOU PET LIZ

  • @mjt5050 I agree with you completely. A lot of the female singers are trashbags.

  • @mjt5050 You got that so right.

  • And CLASS never goes out of style.

  • @mjt5050 Yeah, and #1 on your list of trashbags of today would be that twat Christina Aguillera that butchered the national anthem at the SuperBowl last night. What a disgrace to her generation--and the entire nation. I'm pretty sure if we had Pet Clark sing the anthem (if ONLY!), she'd bother to learn the words.

  • @mjt5050 They're makin' plenty of money so, what do they care about quality, . . .

  • This is absolute perfection! Pet is young, beautiful, stunning attire, beautiful hair, nice suntan, A#1 song, and her delivery is spectacular. It just doesn't get any better than this. Anyone for a remake?? Forget it. How can you top this!!!

  • The Beauty the style if only that kind of music and performance would return in today's world. With all the music I love and listen to this song sung by Petula Clark is my #1 favorite!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Great song, great singer. When Petula sings the first part in in French it seems to add the experience. Thanks for sharing.

  • Very beautif song.

Petula, we miss you in France.

  • Absolutely gorgeous music, who would have thought it was written and composed by Charles Chaplin.

Petula Clark sings it so beautifully.

  • It should be no surprise that Charles Chaplin wrote this since he also wrote the classics "Smile" and "Eternally." You owe it to yourself to hear them -- wonderful stuff.

posting the lyrics with the description

of your video. This is real MUSIC that

touches the very heart of a true romantic.

    beautiful song!! Thoroughly love this!!!

  • ...schöner als die urspruengliche 1967 Vinyl. Vielen Dank for posting, fritz.

  • Dear friend,

I love this song very much special the first part which seems singing in Spanish. It would be much appreciated if someone can provide the lyrics of above mentione Spanish. Thank you in advance. Charles

  • I agree, my friend. This is one of those songs that evoke Romance even in mystical languages that can only be understood with the heart. The first part is in French - and I see that Fritz has posted the French lyrics. Click on to "more info" next to his photo. I almost failed French in school, and I understand only a few of the beautiful words, so I will pass this task of translation on to another YouTuber. Welcome to the YouTube Family, Charles!

  • Dear Bloootube,

It is incredible that under your help I received the French lyrics of song of "This is my song" today. Thank you so much.

    Have a good day/Charles

  • You are very welcome, Charles. Most folks on YouTube are anxious to help another member of "The Family." Warm regards to you and to the fine folks on Taiwan! Timmo/USA

  • "Smile" from what I've been told is also a Chaplin composition.

  • Superb diction, belle canto feeling combined which is often mutually exclusive or creates a blandness... Petula Clarks singing always kept the emotive force throughout... really great popular singing here...

    P

  • Ce chason est tres formidable!

  • the audience looks like theyve just popped in whilst doing a bit of shopping, lol

  • Never knew Charlie Chaplin wrote music though...?! Lol!

  • Remember "Smile" ? "Smile though your heart is aching, smile even though it's breaking."

  • Yeah, but was that Charles Chaplin or Charlie Chaplin? They weren't the same people were they?

  • Same Guy. The little tramp had many facets, comedy was just one.
