  • Um I have ONE Con I noticed in this video. The automatic scrolling what's with that? All it does is make it less fun cuz you have to wait for it to scroll where you wanna go before going.

  • Hm, not bad. I like the way the cheep cheeps circle the platforms, it looks really nice, and the whole "platforms are in 3d" thing seems to work out nicely.

    A few things though, It could just be because it was auto-scrolling, but it didn't seem like you could see too much of the area, leaving too little time to react to some things. You could just fix that by zooming the camera out a little. And make sure that when he jumps he stops because he decelerates, not because he hit a ceiling.

  • Heh, they don't exactly circle it; invisible emitters in certain areas are constantly spewing out new Cheep-Cheeps. The old ones are deleted when they're below a certain Y level, so they don't bog the system down.

    Also, the whole not being able to see much of the area thing is due to the auto-scrolling; in regular levels, at least IMO, you have enough time to react.

    I don't get what you meant by the last part ("when he jumps he stops because he decelerates..."). Could you clarify that for me?

  • Sure. It's a problem I've noticed in a lot of fan-made Mario games. When you jump in an official game, say NSMB, the jump is one smooth motion, that is, Mario decelerates as he reaches the peak of his jump. In the many of the fan made ones though Mario doesn't decelerate, he just stops at the peak of his jump as though he's bumped into a ceiling. I can't tell from the video if he's doing this though, as you really have to play a game to get a feel for it.
