  • Nur die Einführung ist etwas zu lang und zu monoton, aber ansonsten echt super gemacht, die beste Version finde ich!!!!!!

  • roughtr

  • I love it!!

  • Great piece of art definitely.

But this composition of Barber is great in almost all interpretations, best in the very original classical.

  • Brilliant

  • william orbit version(1997) still the best!

  • True, It's hard to beat Tiesto when it comes to mixing anyways. but this was a nice try i guess:P

  • i like your version :D is beautiful

  • something different i like

    keep it up

  • I loved your version...I think you are very talented so pay-no-mind to negative people...

  • u look like the guy from that show on mtv is she really dating that guy

  • great mix mate, i prefer this to tiesto's

  • Sounds great!!!

  • i like it a lot

  • good tune,

    tiesto's version better

  • what a load of wank

  • Much better than Testical's version, of which there isn't any proof he actually did anything. Lots of proof Tosty ripped off stuff though.

  • amazing !!!

  • SHIT ON ME!!!! this is brilliant

  • wow gj dawg!

  • very cool rmx and video :))

  • good job, but i wouldnt make remixes with dj tiesto... this song actually sucks. but yeah 5 stars

  • Whoa! Reality check!

It is *William Orbit* that created the original sounds, using just a score. *NOT* Tiesto.

Tiesto is a fraud, and you fell for it.

  • This is a piece of classical music by Samuel Barber. I KNOW William Orbit did a remix and so did Tiesto and MANY others...If you read the description you'll see I said that EVERYBODY's doing it...Im not the first...certainly won't be last one...and just so you know, William Orbits wasn't the first one either...

  • The score is by SB, yes. But William Orbit created all the sounds from scratch. He in fact, set the tone, created the synthesized sounds and added elements to it.

Tiesto took it almost verbatim, and did almost nothing with it. There are lots of mixes of this song going around by others that are awfully awfully close to exactly what Tiesto puts on.

There is no evidence that Tiesto did any mixing. And even if he did, it must not have taken any effort or real talent whatsoever.

    Fraud.

  • I agree with you on that. Tiesto did almost nothing with it. In fact, I believe Tiesto is the most overrated DJ in the world.

Truth be told, I did this from the score but only used part of it, not the whole score. I'd like to know your opinion on the mix. I'd like serious, honest critique. Thx!!!

  • I'm listening to it again, with my critical ear.

The lead in until 1:35 is brilliant. I'd like to know if you chose your own sounds, or if you used it from another tune.

Once the melody starts, I think the main tune has the wrong instrument. It's too triangly IMO ;-) It needs to be deeper and more stringy, but not too echo-y either.

The drum at 3:50 could use some flanking.

4:10 it needs some filling in. Same repeating tone too long.

5:05 nice, but that same repeating tone needs changing.

  • 5:30 brilliant strings, need to use that earlier (ignoring the repeating tone, which is getting overwhelming).

    6:00 again.

    6:10 suave.

I like your version a lot, and would like to know how you did it. Is it just mixing, or did you add new sounds.

  • You see...this is the kind of critique I like...Thank you very much...answering your question, every single sound is made from scratch...I took the score (part of it, at least) and transferred it to synth. I have other remixes if you'd like to listen to them. Had one for "Love is Gone" but was removed due copyright issues (go figure!!! lol) Anyways...I'll go over your suggestions and see if I can come up with an improved version.

  • I knew it was a synth from a score.

I would *love* to hear an optimized version of this tune.

Outstanding potential, there is a lot of good stuff in it already.

As long as you think I'm helpful, I'll be here to give my opinion (not that I'm much of an expert or anything - although I'm very sensitive to nuances).

  • Of course, it's crystal clear that we're in true design territory, not some simpleton mixing or butting up song to song Tosty style.

  • Well...thank you very much. This is an as of late thing. I started doing remixes about a year ago when I discovered FL Studio so some of the terms Im not very familiar with like "flanking". What did you mean with the drums needing flanking?

  • I meant flanging and/or phasing. There is a good explanation of "Flanging" on Wikipedia.

    Listen to this one: watch?v=SzR8YT6P3Sw

    Then to this one: watch?v=1OBXfRTBbAE

It's got this Leslie-ish phasy rotating like effect.

A long time ago I actually made synthesizer composition software with real time sound effect algorithms based on samples and formulas you'd enter, in the 80's on the Commodore Amiga...

One day I'd like to get back into it.

  • I don't think you'll want to apply flanging to the whole tune or all the channels. Just in the right places on only where it makes sense.

Of course, this is all very abstract. How does one explain. You have to play with it.

  • Hey...I have a question. How do you make the clickable times in your comments?

  • perfecto

  • nice remix.

  • LOVED IT

  • good mix

  • 5/5

  • I love it think its a great mix :)

  • why ruin all the work william orbit put in, try something different mate!!

  • what can i say- the tune is no.1! great remix

  • 4/5 nicely done, how bout some insomnia remix or sandstorm?

  • Actually, I do have an insomnia remix...Lemme see if I make a video of it and post it here...

  • Since you asked I obliged. Watch my new video. It's an Insomnia remix. Leave your comment.

  • o dear...

  • Cool man.

  • 1/5

  • Very nice but 2 things, in the chourus You shoulden't make the Synth so heavy and give it more whomph in the Bass and Beat, more like Orbit's remix =), Other then that, 4/5

  • Great remix! Keep up the great work!
