  • Fake

  • lol, ipod

  • wait, was that girl wearing an ipod?

  • Jaja...I think so

  • Good catch! Were they even out yet then?

  • No, she wasn't, it was added digitally - this is a reedition of the ad promoting iPod

  • No, she wasn't, it was added digitally - this is a reedition of the ad promoting iPod

  • Happy 25th Birthday Macintosh!

  • Big Brother is watching...

  • thats a better quality video compared to other videos

  • lol, that book sucked

  • What?! It was awesome!

  • well to be fair, i was forced to read it in school, and analyze the hell outta it, so that kinda ruined it...

  • Oh, that would kinda ruin it. I just had to make a 3 minute speech/presentation on it today, and that was all. So I was able to enjoy the book more. Try reading it later in about a year; then you'll remember all the stuff you learned, but be able to enjoy the book!

  • good advice. i do remember starting it, thinking it was a pretty cool idea, and thought i would enjoy it, so for sure i will give it another read sometime later

  • chck out my profile! its way better! D

  • 84' they had computers!!!!!???? wow, history lesson!

  • ... wow. :D

  • the iPod was added for the 20th anniversary re-air of this commercial. Just replace 1984 with 2004 and Macintosh with iPod.

  • The irony of this commercial is compelling!

This is because now computers control us!

    ;)

  • very true.how prophetic!

  • partial 'control', more like surveillance, data flow control and disinformation

  • and i swear she's wearing an iPod

  • IT IS AN IPOD DUDE, I couldn't believe it either.

  • The concept on this video is really scary. This just shows you, when you have money, you can try to rule the world. It's bad enough that we have big brother trying to rule us, we don't need another, just one, GOD. What kind of message are we sending our future kids?

  • Well, if you haven't noticed, this took place during the cold war in 1984... Because of high tensions between the United States and the Communist Soviet Russia, This commercial was to really just show that the woman, who represents ideology and liberty, breaks the communist control of the screen that "controls our minds." Apple is also represented by the woman, just comes to show that they will bring everyone out of communism and its control. Not so much for money :P

  • it is supposed to be like the book, "1984".

  • You really don't get the ideology of communism...dated and related to Marxism-ideologies. 1984 was not about a West-East war, but about the total control of the population the Party was ruling. Media-bias, propoganda, fascism, 'ongoing' war for money, etc. Sounds like today's world, uh? Well it is. The women was representing liberty in some way or a wake-up-call...The liberty that is dying right now, your liberty, as well as mine. Both East and West tell lies...but eastern nations right now[...]

  • [...] are not in the position to lie (Iran, Russia, as well as their allied nations, like Venezuela) because of the HUGE media-propaganda that hit Russia in August, coming from the West. The Georgia-South Ossetia War was a perfect example how lies spread through-out the European and American media brainwash people. And this was not the first lie...all back to the 50's history was literally re-written just to suit the image of both, East and West. Lies about wars, conflicts[...]

  • [...] genocide (Bosnia, Africa, Middle East), long forgotten and 'clear'-put topics like the Cuba-crisis (who started it first? The Soviet Union did not put their missiles on Cuba until the US did so in Turkey) Wars that were just thought to dispose of the 'communist threat' like Vietnam, Afghanistan (who founds the Taliban?), Nicaragua, Panama...wars made for strategical gains and or resource gains (Iraq for example or Afghanistan, and maybe soon Pakistan)[...]

  • [...]Fascist control and destruction of civil liberties in the name of the 'international "War on Terror"' - mass surveillance, mass data storage, ID-data-analysis (Bank IDs, analysis of tele-communcation, traffic analysis, etc.) The communist revolution in Russia was thought to became free of the draconic rule of the rulers and to bring equality to the people, especially to the hard working ones. Although the ideology slipped over to many other nations and woke up the "revolutionary spirit[...]

  • [...]It was not until Stalin that mass genocide and single-polarization started, the man who short-time allied himself with Adolf Hitler even tho the NS nations seeked the destruction of communism. Just like today the world is becoming more and more single-polarized towards the USA, a opposition is needed...because ignorance...ignorance means death.

  • i didnt know apple hired hooters girls fo there commercials!

  • is that an ipod. wow they must of worked hard on it if it took 20 years. i mean i thought they were from 2001. lol. jk

  • Yep, and the very next year the Amiga came along and blew it out of the water. If it weren't for it's fanatical following the Mac would have died there.

  • so this is why people hate macs ?? damn there freakin scary

  • well macs were the first real computers

    windows is just a copy

macs are best, but not because of this ad :P

  • The 1984 commercial originally designed for the introduction of macintosh, was aired during the Super Bowl.

Apple later released a modified version of the 1984 commercial. This "1984 New Edition" was shown at an apple keynote in 2004. Apple digitally added the ipod, but didn't change the text/audio. This modified version was made because it was Macintosh's 20th anniversary.

  • yay! un iPod en 1984 :D xD

  • The original concept was to have The Greatest American Hero (TGAH) crash into the screen, but TGAH was cancelled in '83. The new TGAH premieres next July BTW.

  • The "Mustardayonnaise" commercial is still better!

  • It doesn't matter. No one pays attention to Orwell or what "1984" was all about. Blair (Orwell) might as well have been talking to a brick wall than the "Sheeple" (humanity).

  • How ironic, can you imagine if they actually tried to make a new version to sell a ipod?

  • yooooooooooooo dat bitch got a ipod in 1984 lmao!!!!!!!! wtf

  • not a random year!

it's Goerge Orwell's 1984 novel and the film based on that.

  • That's what I said, it *isn't* a random year.

  • is she wearing an ipod on her shorts??

  • yeah..thats the different thing about the last one that came out in 1984...haha this one she has an ipod

  • she's wearing the "Hooters" outfit! XD

  • "Apple introduces the world's first i-pods in 1 meg and 2 meg sizes."

side note: one 60 gig ipod = 60,000 floppy disks. baffles the mind.

  • I love, how the Ipod is added to that commercial. Looks like it has always been there. I've actually dug up the original to compare. (In case it wasn't an ipod and just looked like one) I actually noticed the Ipod in another video that spoofed Hillary, so I dug up this clip we're watching right now.

  • That's exactly what I did too! I thought, wait a minute, if she was wearing an iPod back then, they took forever to actually put the thing on the market! I thought maybe she was an early beta tester or something.

  • lol

  • Fucking amazing!

  • um, this was aired at macworld 2004 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the commercial airing!!! the digitally put in an ipod. it looks awsome

  • BanneD ComErCiaL...

  • wow! they already made the ipod in 1984 but released only in 2000! I can imagine what they have developed all these years....time machine?

  • WOAH WOAH WOAH! Why does she have an iPod in 1984? It wasn't untill 16 years from now the iPod was introduced in 2000.

  • that's why the title says NEW EDITION!

  • TIME PARADOX

  • I dont get why they wouldn't change the end of the commercial to 2000 or whenever that was lolz but its still cool how they managed to edit an iPod into it

  • ... you do know that "1984" isn't just a random year, right? Changing it to "2000" would make no sense.

  • actually, 1984 wasnt a random pickout, if read George Orwell's book 1984, you would know that 1984 was:

    1. The year Orwell predicted Big Brother would rule the world

    2. The year the Macintosh came out.

  • That's what I said, it *isn't* a random year.

  • Updated 1984 commercial! Yes! +favs!

  • This is the only copy of this vid I can find where the audio is in-sync. Five stars.

  • The best commercial ever

  • LOL!!!

  • 1984? She has an iPod!!!

  • that's the "new version" remark, it's great i lol'd

  • no shit! this is new edition smart ass
