  • Diamond, thy name is METAL!!! World without end, halleluia amen. FUCK YOU if you don't like it.

  • The song is awesome, the band is super awesome, King Diamond is legendary, but the video is just stupid as fuck....

  • Comment removed

  • The feather is actually very symbolic. The Egyptians believed that when you died you would be brought before Osiris and you would give him the heart of your soul. He then weighs your heart on a scale opposite of the feather of truth. If the heart us heavy with sin you would not be allowed reincarnate. The ultimate gold was to be reincarnated as a sun. Notice how the feather drops when king sings "lead my soul to the judgement hall. It's my fav part

  • Some criticize this video for it's lack of "effects" but really I think this video is great fir low budget. I read an earlier comment about s stupid feather and a stupid bowl witch clearly shows a lack if knowledge of Egyptian culture and beliefs

  • I'm from Egypt and I love Mercyful Fate!

  • Comment removed

  • This is HEAVY METAL MUSIC, and Mercyful Fate is CLASSIC HEAVY METAL BAND.

    Problem?

  • @WishmasterTheDark they where also the first wave of black metal

  • @OneSpudd

There's no need for such retarded comments.

  • @WishmasterTheDark wtf, how was that retarded??

  • @OneSpudd

This band has nothing to do with that "Black" noise, nor Venom.

  • @WishmasterTheDark no matter what you say, they were in the first wave of black metal

  • @OneSpudd

    Ahahahahahhaa enough! Ahahaaaa!

  • @WishmasterTheDark what do u mean enough, they were, and black metal is awesome as u can see

  • @thewolf666

Why wpuld a church have a halloween party? Lol but pretty brave move... I give props for that

  • Back in 1987, I was dating this girl, and there was a Halloween party at her church. I went as King Diamond, and I nailed the makeup, even dyeing my hair black. Needless to say, my outfit did not go over well with the pastor, who was not a fan of the King. Mercyful Fate rules!

  • did someone make fun of the cheesiness of the video? haha, dont ever question king diamond or the legendary Fate...

  • Er det Morten Møbelbanker som spiller trommer her?

  • 13 people don't know the Magic that Egypt holds. (^_^)

  • Legendary song from Mercyful Fate!!!

  • sick fuckin guitars!!!

  • Great song, but the video adds nothing to it. "Hey, let's all pretend to play in front of blue screen, and throw in some travel channel Egypt photos in the back - that'll be AWESOME."

At least it has more to do with the song then the Family Ghost video.

  • @TheJudoKevin

    Who cares about a video???

The MUSIC is what matters !!!.....

  • @TheJudoKevin the whole song is about astral projection.and winding up in egypt to be judged.the bowl in the feather should give a heads up if you know Egyptian lore.

  • @TheJudoKevin Do people like you forget that videos like these are from the 80s? Show me a video from then that wasn't cheesy or that is cool enough for today's standards.

  • @jbohler33 Considering I watched the first the hour of MTV when it aired, and the cheesy video shows on regular TV years prior, I can say that I remember the 80's fairly well. There were many videos from much less well known bands even in this genre that were more than blue screen crap. Its just lazy, like fake concert videos. Mercyful Fate and King Diamond were great bands with great songs, but if a video is crap I'm going to say that it is. At least KD went out on location for "Them."

  • @TheJudoKevin I doubt it was laziness. Maybe they wanted an Egyptian theme and couldn't afford to go there.

  • @jbohler33 Or a studio . . . Again, if they don't have the budget to make a good video, so they put out a crappy video - its still a crappy video. Asia's "Dont Cry" video - which predates this by about 5 years, had footage from inside a fake pyramid, live actors, a storyline, etc. Quite frankly the song deserves better, and IMO its a let down to the fans, including myself. A great video might have propelled KD to more mainstream status, but the opportunity was lost.

  • 12 people aren't burning inside to know

  • King Diamond isan't inspired in Black Metal bands, he inspired in Alice Cooper (1975)!

  • So, basically from all the comments ive read, Black Metal bands ripped off MF/KD with face paint but they didnt rip them off with good music??

  • their early lyrics also inspired black metal bands

  • kick ass

  • domination!

  • osiris anubis the best part

  • nah, the first guys to have corpsepaint were the Celts :D

Before them, were some indians, australian aboriginals and african bambaata :P

And all of them, way before Alice =D

Good morning everyone! Killer video, killer song, killer band! \m/

  • i still have all my rock monthly videos from 1993 XD

  • whose statuette is that at the very end of the video?

  • Awesome. Hail Mercyful Fate.

  • Superb song. Great intro.

  • WHO CARES!!!! ITS FUCKIN KING DIAMOND YO!!!!! HAIL THE KING!!!

  • Yeah, fuckin' metal dude!!!

  • @negothebeast Arthur Brown used corpsepaint 1968.

  • Haven't heard this in so long.

  • at 2:42 he looks like hes starting to transform into a werewolf!! XD

  • I love how at the end you can see it just about to rip into Morbid Angel's "Rapture"

  • Who really cares what kind of metal it is? It's metal, and it's King Goddamn Diamond.

  • dude hate to tell u but venom was around way before wasp and twisted sister

  • @nova914 Not exactly. Twisted Sister has been around since the mid 70's

  • Ancient Egypt #1 Forever

  • 12 idiots who don't know shit from shinola...Long Live the King! \m/

  • The underwear is yours.

    Jk.

  • Oh thou of countless names! AVE MERCYFUL FATE!

  • Am I really first to reference the whole Egypt reference that's going on in the world now? WOW, how the "die-hard" fans forget.....

  • I know King Diamond is trying to be scary, but I find this expressions, lyrics and posturing to be very comical and overly melodramatic. Nevertheless, killer song.

  • it seriously fucking makes me cringe when metal nerds have a cry over what does and does not fall into their favourite subcategory of metal they are obsessed with. no one fucking cares so fuck off.

  • King Diamond = The most OVER rated metal singer of all time!!!

  • @08Revelator at least he doesn't go on vids he doesn't like just to bash them, dick....

  • @stormriderWI

Damn! I was really hoping for a coherent response...Oh well

  • @08Revelator King is the bomb you mean.

  • Arthur Brown did it before Alice Cooper.

  • KING is only ONE!!!

  • im burning isde to knowwwwww so fucking metal LONG LIVE THE KING

  • Mistrzostwo

  • BOSS KING TO NIGDY NIE BLACK METAL<<PRZEMYSL CO KLIKASZ/////////////

  • I'm not a fan of black metal because of thinking that music should be made because music itself! Not because movemenets, or Satan! Satan is for weak, black metal is also for weak and poor people! Heavy metal is for Lords! \m/

  • @svetovid777 Only weak people judge others...

  • @cavemangu Touche.

  • @svetovid777 First, this isn't black metal. Second, black metal is not rooted in satanism. The start of black metal (in Norway), was a musical movement against christianity. The idiotic mainstream news took it at satanist movements. Black metal is a beautiful art, you just know the bands like Gorgoroth and Dark Funeral (none of which are truly satanic. Gorgoroth does everything they can to piss off christians and DF are LaVeyan satanists). You're a judgmental asshole, nothing more, nothing less.

  • @TheBloodRedX Ok you retard black metal existed way before world even heard for Norway. Bands like Venom, Bathory, Hellhammer, Sodom, Destruction and even Mercyful Fate were considered black metal in the 80's. The term existed LONG before Norway. Who gives a fuck about Gorgoroth, they are gay shit. Only 3 bands that came from Norway were actually good and that's Burzum, Mayhem and Darkthrone. And they all used satanic image when they started playing.

  • @00speedfreak First wave of black metal are not real black metal you fucking moron. First wave of black metal were the influence for second wave Norwegian black metal. And who the fuck are you? I was not even conversing with you. I didn't leave any part of that comment open for anyone other than the other moron to comment back. Attention seeking whore.

  • @TheBloodRedX Stop talking shit moron who even gives a fuck about Norway and your gay perception of black metal. Mercyful Fate and Sodom was considered to be black metal before Norwegian bands even existed. So you're saying that people back in the 80's considered first wave of BM was to be influence for second wave BM ? hahahahah shut up bitch

If you don't want response STOP writting such nonsense.

You call your metal black it's just plastic lame and weak.

  • HeadCrasher Mr.Diamond

  • King DIAMOND = GOD

  • Yup !! These guys were around before they started labeling metal .. It was just heavy metal back in the day. No matter if it was King Diamond or Megadeth it was just heavy metal .

  • king diamond, mercyful fate? ...the better master

nargaroth? gorgoroth? etc? in my opinion sucks

  • I'm burning inside to know

  • this is way beyond black metal, please dont even dare to compare.

  • Esta música é uma das melhores, adoro o som dessas guitarras.

  • sorry everyone, but I've seen several inaccuracies written in this video,so I think a little history update is in order: the first rock artist to ever utilize corpsepaint/makeup and all these ''satanic'' stage image/theatrics was Alice Cooper back in the 60'S.He inspired a whole generation of bands(Kiss,Twisted Sister,WASP) who influenced the first wave of black metal (Venom,Mercyful Fate/King Diamond,Hellhammer,Bathory) and through them, modern Norwegian black metal(Mayhem,Burzum,Darkthrone)

  • @steveharrismetalgod Alice Cooper was late 60s/early 70s, dude, and he got his look from Arthur Brown. Just look up "Arthur Brown Fire" on here and you can see the uncanny resemblance of Alice's makeup!

  • @skeletal13 oh yeah? I didn't know!ok,I'll look it up,thanks!

  • @skeletal13 well said my friend i agree completely

  • the first artist to use makeup in of that sort was Arthur Brown. Not Alice Cooper. Alice Cooper and Kiss totally ripped Arthur Brown off. Interstingly Arthur Browns screams are incredibly similar to King diamond

  • @steveharrismetalgod Arthur Brown was surely before Alice Cooper and influenced him... ;)

  • @steveharrismetalgod ALICE COOPER !!!! YEAHH..... HE'S A MYTH

  • @steveharrismetalgod Alice Cooper is a bitch.

  • @nljuggalo...bored,aren't we little troll?...get a life...

  • @steveharrismetalgod I'm not a troll, I'm a MF fan watching a MF video and there's somebody mentioning Alice Cooper? That's like if i was watching a Rush video and somebody was talking about the Beatles. i beleive you're the troll.

  • @nljuggalo lol you're a juggalo

  • Comment removed

  • @nljuggalo I picked up on it as soon as I saw your name. Unlike the typical Juggalo, I'm actually intelligent.

  • @BlackSabbathory Good for you. You must be proud of yourself.

  • @steveharrismetalgod Venom actually came before Twisted Sister and WASP, so they definitely had nothing to do with it.

  • @Quorthon888 No, actually Venom(1979) only preceded WASP(1982), but not Twisted Sister which came much earlier(1972)...about the same time as Kiss(1973). And of Course Alice Cooper (the band, not solo) preceded them all by far (1964)...

  • @steveharrismetalgod Agreed on Alice Cooper, but Twisted Sister didn't release anything but a few demos before '82, so it's doubtful that they influenced Venom, who had put out two albums at that point.

  • @steveharrismetalgod As much as I do agree with you I have to say the first artist to wear makeup was not Alice Cooper but an english singer by the name of Arthur Brown if you look him up you will see where Gene Simmons & King Diamond got some of their influences from

  • @steveharrismetalgod read the first line of Arthur Brown's wiki. It won't let me post a link here.

  • @ecryptus It's OK man,I believe you,lol!

  • @steveharrismetalgod Yes there are several inaccuracies. The fact that you have a top comment proves this. Have you ever heard of Arthur Brown?

  • Just love the King

  • UIghfsaigh

  • Mercyful Fate and King Diamond isn't Black Metal. They are Heavy Metal. King's makeup inspired Black Metal bands.

  • @negothebeast, actually, they were Thrash. One of the first Thrash bands, to be exact

  • @negothebeast lol his makeup is inspired by alice cooper

  • @negothebeast i agree with you they are not black metal at all! its heavy metal

  • @negothebeast Though I agree that MF isn't Black Metal, it had a lot to do with what would become Black Metal. Not just the makeup (Arthur Brown, Alice Cooper and even Kiss had done that before), but the approach the music had, and lyrical content (Satanism, occult etc).

  • @negothebeast You are right my friend...indeed, King himself says that MF / KD are heavy metal bands, despite of makeup that makes people think they are black metal...

  • @negothebeast and Dead!

  • @negothebeast music did too

  • @negothebeast True, they are Traditional Heavy Metal. But if you listen closely to some songs, you can hear some interested BM riffs and sections. E.g. There is a riff in Satan's Fall that can be compared to one found in Emperor's I Am The Black Wizards. I think Mercyful Fate/K.D. mainly influenced the attire and themes of Black Metal though.

  • @slayerbbk Musically Mercyful Fate is classic heavy metal like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden etc. a little bit more proggresive though and lyrically they are pioneers of black metal.

  • they were ahead of their time. for some reason i didnt listen to them. my loss. guitar and arrangments are way cool. hey its like a new band for me. thanks.

  • No Afro-centrist can do a better job of eulogizing Egypt than King Diamond! He's the man!

  • No Afro-centrist can do a better job of eulogizing Egypt than King Diamond! He's the man!

  • @foreverforarsenal

    No, it's great.

  • It's just too bad that so few recognize or even know how good the guitar is in this band over so many years.

  • 2:20 - 2:35 gives me goosebumps.

  • wow man! at 0:33 when the guitar-solo kicks in...I come buckets!

  • go michael dinner

  • King Diamond is god he's 10 times better than Ozzy,Kiss,AC/DC but i can't pick between King Diamond or Alice Cooper \m/

  • it isn't black metal, this is fucking real and kickass heavy metal!!!

  • @areswolf76 Actually Mercyful Fate is Black Metal. 1st wave to be exact, Venom Created it thus following bands contributed their own sounds such as Mercyful Fate,Hell Hammer, and Bathory. Just because it doesn't sound like Black Metal doesn't mean it's not when in fact it is.

  • @areswolf76 you got it man, this song is straight up metal..labels are bullshit it totally limits a band being labed this or that..old school metal man its timeless quality music never goes away

  • This is one of the reasons why I wish I was born in the late 60s or early 70s, I would have been in my 20s when this came out, and would have been listening to metal before it became corrupted by popularity as a teen.. That and the fact school was 30x easier back then and it wasn't hard at all to get into college, but all that aside, Mercyful Fate is probably one of the best metal bands of all time!

  • @amounirl you re right. i started listening to metal 1984. i was 18. and all the metal bands i loved or still love like slayer, death, kreator and bla bla still exist and still rock. i think if you once listened to metal you will never stop enjoying it. my english is not so good but when i understand you you re right that todays metal bands have nothing to do with the spirit and heart made metal of the "old" pioneers. bands like slipknot or linkin park are not worth to loose a word

  • This is REAL BLACK METAL!!

  • @ThrashAudio Yeah right good joke.

  • haven't heard this song in years love it

  • Ahhh...King. Nothing like him! If you can be open enough to pay attention, his lyrics are orgasmic.

  • there is one king and his name is diamond

  • I love the way he headbangs at 0.37!

  • REAL BLACK METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 8 of those people who have seen this video don't have a taste of good/awesome music!

  • King Diamond è il migliore!!! \m/

  • HUUUUUGE SHIT !!!!!!

  • This song is magic, like all MF's songs, there's something special about it.

  • could it be more heavy metal: V8 and mercyful fate. This fucking rocks.

  • That opening wail is bone-chilling.

  • EGYPTIAN xD

  • im working on astral projecting.king knows whats up.

also egypt and astral projection have little to do with black metal.only that they are not christian.but then again Christianity stole most of their stuff from Egypt, who in turn stole it from the Sumerians who stole it from the atlantians who stole it from the sprirt world who stole it from Joe pesci

  • yes

  • i have been serching for this song forever!!! nice

  • asesinos !!!!!! que duelo de violas denner y shermann y la voz del rey diamante ,simplemente ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡unica!!!!!!!!

  • like I said FUCK GENE $IMMON$

  • Indeed. King is the shit. :)

  • This brings back killer metal memories! Remember exactly when this album came out! After their hiatus! All hail the King!

  • When did Gene Simmons join Mercyful Fate?

    JK

    FUCK GENE $IMMON$

  • @HillaryHitler Do NOT talk shit about uncle gene.

He'll find a way to sue you, He's pretty much God. Or jesus. Or whatever you believe in.

  • Micahel Denner And Hank Shermman Rules !!!

  • @TheKillian4266 men go and fuck yourself

  • @powerslaver6 hey man its not my fault he sounds gay

  • @powerslaver6 its okay dude one day TheKillian will pass on be condemned and then he will see what he missed out on not being a King Diamond fan

  • @brandonsallerrules yeah jaaja king forever

  • this is not black metal Its POWER METAL & black metal good just the way it is

bad ass song one of my favorite

  • @6Mercyful6Fate6 how about......blackened power metal

  • HAh hahah, King diamond looks to me like a bearded and painted effigy of George Michael. ha ahah hah

  • hell yeah... that intro solo is fuckin perfect...

  • yeah it reminds me of Powerslave by Iron Maiden or Creeping Death by Metallica or Alone in the Dark by Testament i wish i knew more egyptian style of metal.lol it sounds rad

  • Nile is only about egyptian stuff.. but idk if you'll like it... its death metal

  • Marcyful fate is classic metal.
