Tell me about it. As a kid my parents threw out or gave away (almost) anything I played with and as an adult I bought them all again - and then some (a lot, actually!).
But it's worth it because regaining and maintaining your youth's passions is priceless!
I started off on Pong which my cousin owned, then got a 2600 6 switch at 9 in 1982, and my cousin had a Colecovision AND Intellivision, so I got to play all 3 systems. Got a NES in 1986. Totally quit playing till 1999 and started collecting. Picked up tons of systems but made the mistake of trying to collect EVERYTHING (expensive). Now I collect for-Colecovision,2600,Intellivision,NES,SNES,SMS,Genisis.
Of all that I own (to much to list), Colecovision is my favorite. It holds the memories.
Amazing Amazing, What a touching and well thought out video, I am a retro gamer myself and this got me in so many ways, thanks for this video, thanks alot from a Mattle Aquarius Owner..so you know I am old school lol
im tryin to give my dad a piece of his mid life but i cant find an intellivision anywhere for a decent price and im only 15 so dont got alot of money which doesnt help
Great intro video! Finally went back to the beginning of your channel. Gonna watch the three reviews next. I absolutely loved Popeye when I used to play it on the C64. I've actually never played Mr. Do though.
ive checked ebay, theres one one colecovision system and there, theresa picture of like six and most of them are in mint condition, its like a hundred and thirty something
These are the deals I got: 2 colecos, one canadian and broke for 20 bucks. The expansion module: 35 bucks with box. Games: 100 dollars. The memories over the last 3 months: priceless.
Excellent video! What do you think of the joystick on the Colecovision controller? I've heard some complaints that it's uncomfortable to play games with-would you agree?
I would not. I actually don't mind it! It all comes down to what you are used to. Since I used it a ton as a kid, I still use it to play some Atari games.
0:07 I could identify (from left to right) Satan's Hollow, Pac-Man, Centipede and Defender as amongst the games in the arcade, but not the other 3. Anyone know what those games are?
just like when i got my SuperNES back on Christmas in 1991 except the urine LOL ... first 100% new console for me. the rest were hand me downs of the Atari 2600 and 7800 and the NES.
Well, this brings me back to my first video game: Super Mario Land for the Nintendo Game Boy. Not as cool, I know, but give me a break, I was born in the early 90s so I never got a chance to experience this. (unfortunatley)
You may ask. LOL. Uhhh...yeah. I recognize it wasn't a great review when I did my Expansion Module vid. Check that one out, I think I did a better job. Thanks for the comment!
LOL...yeah, I can see where you might have thought that. I think it's okay to dedicate stuff to people even if they are still alive. For example, people dedicate songs and books to people all the time. Thanks again for watching!
This is a very well put together video. I enjoyed watching this vid and will soon watch your other ones. This is my first time visiting your account and I am very glad I did. So I subscribed to you and this receives a 5/5 and a fav! I wish you the best and I hope you reach your goals making more video reviews.
Fantastic video! I'm 38 and remember very well getting my 2600 Heavy Six Switcher on December 25th 1977! I also got a Colecovision for Christmas of 1982. Man, those were great times.
wow 8 HOURS and you played all 3 of your favorite game wow sounds like a memory to me! and i remember the first videogame i played i'll tell you in my part 2 of my 50 sub special vid!but cool arcade story/review!
Good video review. I have always found it strange that Colecovision can use Sega Genesis controllers. You can use one of those Genesis Arcade sticks and they will work great with some games.
Really nice video, dude. I'm 31, and also played on the Coleco Vision back in the day. Wasn't mine though, a relative of mine owned it. But I actually owned the Commodore Vic20. Anyway, the games I remember best from Coleco Vision are Turbo and Mousetrap. Good times!!
wow dude,, completely blown away by your video then.. i was born in 79 and Coleco was my first console too,, and although i do a sega show these days ill always remember the Coleco to be my first ever real connection with video gaming.. very nice editing too..
I got a Colecovision in Oct '82. The pack-in game Donkey Kong was awesome. Earlier in the year Pac Man for the Atari 2600 was released and everybody was dissappointed that it wasn't just like the arcade. Along came Coleco prommissing arcade quality games and they delivered!
Really, Mouse Trap? I have it for Atari. What did you use it for? I know in the Atari version you hold down the button to open the doors and tap it to use the dog bone. I bet they use the numbers for one of those functions.
The Colecovision is my all time favorite system. I have great memories playing this system as a kid. Do you remember the Coleco Adam Computer? LOL Its an interesting system as well.
Actually what I meant was that for example when you showed the picture of Colecovision, you could have showed your Colecovision with your cam. That way the review seems more natural as we get to see your stuff sort of like through your eyes, rather then just pictures. I hope you get what I mean....
I do. During the part where I talk about the controller ports being at 90 degree angles and the cord being too short, that is actually my Colecovision and controller. The close ups of the games are also mine. Basically anything taken with that ugly carpet in the background is mine. I'll try to emphasize what's mine in future vids.
Great video there! I see since you mentioned the name of James Rolfe, I doubt Irate gamer fans are gonna come here,ha ha. Oh and one more thing, instead of showing still pictures, show us the video. Meaning make videos via your cam and show us. That is what people want to watch, your videos. Don't worry if quality is low or anything, thats ok. Great wok again, looking forward to more!
I'm not trying to attract AVGN fans or deter IG fans...but James was more of an inspiration to me personally.
I'm going to show game footage but I probably won't be getting in front of the camera for these videos. I want the focus to be on the games themselves.
Hey man .. I just wanted to let you know .. I thought that video was SUPERB! Excellent work, my friend .. A very thoughtful, informative, interesting, and retrospective (as well as introspective) review .. Beautifully done ..
Wow, that's a major lifetime love of video games! I'm sure my brother has told you that the ONLY video game system we ever had was the Magnavox Odyssey2. I've never met anyone else who had one, but we loved it!
I remember having an Odyssey .. :-) I loved it, too .. I also remember, though, wanting to sell it because I wanted a Colecovision SO BADLY! Heh heh .. Those were the days .. I'm tellin' ya .. hehe.
Great story!
