Brandon Inge is a career .235 hitter, overrated defensively, and a shitty hitter. He holds the all-time Tigers strike-out record. He has lead all AL 3B's in errors TWICE in his career, he isn't a productive player, and has had two good seasons in 10 years.

So I think YOUR the making a FOOL of YOURSELF.

@JustinVerlander35 I said he's the best-FIELDING 3B, not the best-HITTING. Secondly, he's also led the league several times in total chances and assists. The guy gets to dozens of balls that everyone else in baseball let get by them. He's been with the team as long as he's been for a reason, and thankfully, people like you have no say in the team's decision making. I've seen two great Tigers 3B fielders, Aurelio Rodriguez and Brandon Inge. Nobody else is close.

Because he made his fair share of errors as well. But Inge isn't that great at defense either. He has a little bit of range but that's about it.

If he was just a bump who gobbled up everything that was hit in his direction, rather than going after ground balls and liners that he ranged after, I suppose more doubles and triples would result, but he'd satisfy your incessant need for fewer errors, right? Your analysis, again, makes me happy that you are just a fan, and not a decision-maker in the Tigers front office.

A guy who was batting .177 before getting sent down would of been cut off a team I run. A guy that strikes out over a 120 times a year and is a career .235 hitter, would of been off my team a long time ago. They keep him around because he is a fan fan favorite and keeps asses in the seats. Nothing more than that.

2007: 434 Chances, 18 Errors, .959 FLD%

Like I said above, if you'd prefer having a guy with a spotless FLD%, but allows doubles and triples to get past him, then you're going to have someone who isn't going to have his job for long. The Tigers are constantly TRYING to replace Inge, but they inevitably go back to him, because he's a damn good fielder. Those are facts. Live with it.

Just in case you aren't; UZR is a stat that measures how well you field you zone. Unlike fielding percentage, if a ball gets hit through your zone, which could be a ball that counts as a run or a hit, it gets counted against you. Now this describes what you said that Inge does well perfectly. Guess what Inge's UZR is???

WRONG AGAIN. Look at Brett Gardner. He had a UZR/150 (that means his UZR of 150 games) of 27.8. That is a superior fielder.
