I just saw the quick and the dead on AMC. For those of you who havent seen it basically its about Russel Crowes char who is a former Outlaw now turned priest that has taken an oath of non violence ( luls ) who is forced to enter a Quick Draw competition.We know what happens at the end of 3:10 to yuma so I got to thinking. Could it be possible at all that the Russels 3:10 to yuma character is actually his Quick and the dead Char? If this were true than 3:10 to yuma would have be before QatD

I think 3: 10 to Yuma is a MUCH better Western than True Grit...it seems more realistic and it has a considerably better plot instead of just: "Here's some girl who's father died and we're gonna center the entire film around her finding this guy." But the way True Grit does it, you don't really care whether or not she finds her father's killer or not, because #1 you don't know who her father was, and #2 you never even see the guy who killed him until the very END of the film. 3: 10 to Yuma FTW!!

We used the same 'town' (old Ford ranch south of Santa Fe NM) in filming Appaloosa (Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen). Fun to run around in the same streets, walk into the same saloon during 'action', hide in the same feed store. You will recognise this old town with it's railroad tracks in many westerns over the years. In Comanche Moon we burned much of the other western town to the ground. Silverado (another classic) was filmed in the same area previous to 1985 or so. We like doin' westerns. :>)

I think they're both really cool, Ben Wade is cooler on an evil Outlaw level, but John Marston is cooler as a moralist and considering all the things he accomplished in RDR, I think it's safe to say that he'd beat Ben Wade in a gunfight. But I like them both for different reasons, you can't really say whose better because they're both different.

The best actor who portrayed a true outlaw was probably the guy who played Charlie Prince. Man Charlie was my favorite character in this movie. Crowe and Bale were great but Foster was the best out of all in this movie.

@flighty1996 No the reason he killed Charlie is because he knew Charlie would sooner or later kill him and take over the gang. Wade showed weakness when he started feeling companionship towards his enemy (Dan). There is a part that foreshadows it and its when William tell him he's not bad considering he saved them from the Indians and he responds "No I saved myself". So in the end, Wade saved himself by killing Charlie who sooner or later would've killed him because he showed weakness.

hmm, i doubt Charlie would of done that, Charlie reminded the gang on several occasions how much Wade had done for him. Charlie had a lot of respect and trust in Wade i dont think he would of killed him. It shows that Wade was always a bad guy, only really cared about himself.

@flighty1996 Idk, there is another part where Wade kills one of their members in the beginning and he said "Tommy was weak, Tommy was stupid, Tommy is dead" and Charlie says " I can drink to that" meaning Charlie was ok with killing him considering he was weak. I also believe he killed them because he saw that Dan was a much stronger person than any who deserved to live. Those "animals" like states, were nothing compared to Dan.

This trailer, though showing much of the movie, was the reason for me to get into the movie. I toroughly enjoyed the heavy atmosphere, the dialogues and the superb acting. 3:10 to Yuma really is a little Western gem and a surprisingly good movie. Both the trailer and the movie itself share great atmosphere, excellent music and emphasize the tension between the main characters.
