It appears that Michael genuinely respected and admired Elvis, LMP's dad. EP appears to have been a truly decent, honest, hardworking and quite talented man, so he deserved Michael's (and our) admiration and respect.
Elvis said the honest, honorable things--even during a period in history when it would not have been easy to do that.
His daughter, on the other hand, made a conscious decision--at every opportunity--not to do that. Based upon earlier statements by her, it was clear that Michael had never loved her. Early on during the marriage, she clearly realized that. Certainly, by the time he forced the divorce upon her, that much was crystal clear to her (she indicated that). Yet, she was so concerned about how her fans would perceive her that she resorted to half-truths, innuendos, and verbal attacks.
Yes, he did marry her under false pretext, since she was apparently unaware of the real reason for the marriage. But after the divorce, he remained silent so he hadn't intended to hurt her and he did try to lessen the public humiliation by allowing her to be seen with him. But at some point, she should have been able to just let it go at that and not continue to verbally beat up on him publicly for the rest of his life.

Maybe, but he was doing drugs while he was married with Lisa Marie. The reason the divorced is because she couldn't get trough him. He fucked her up in a emotional way. He was suffering, fysically and emotionally and he let her suffer with him. She couldn't do it anymore, even when she felt very sorry for divorcing him, she still made this choice, for her children.
People he cared for abused his trust deceived him, his father abused him verbally and physically; and then worst of all the media/press raped and stripped him of his dignity publicly and hounded him mercilessly. And through it all he smiled!
I wonder how many of us would withstand the same introspection into our lives and how we would handle the pain. Before we case stones at MJ maybe we should imagine ourselves in his life and ask ourselves how would we manage it? How would we escape the pain?
