  • to rappel on tall posts is such a cool profession... =)

  • flip sake. this is so true IN THE U,K engineer is seen s the man who fixes, installed things. THAT IS NOT AN ENGINEER.

  • @supercooldude300 haha yeah this looks like a blue collar worker. not a professional that does any real engineering

  • I am currently studying a degree in engineering. in electronic and electrical engineering to be exact. and this video is very arrogant. would you call a brick layer an architect/structural engineer. of course you wouldn't. no offence to theses guys. but they are brick layers.

so my point is this. anybody watching this video that is interested in engineering pay no attention to this. this is not engineering this is craft.

  • In the UK they love painting the term engineer over everything. This dude is a linesman and he says so too. It is both highly annoying and confusing to employers. If you didn't do a degree at a university qualifying you as an engineer, you are not one.

  • @Eslu93 check you Inbox for my reply.

  • @Eslu93 Hi, well He obviously work in the E-Eng Industry but more as a Tech than and Eng.

  • Warning this is not what Electrical Engineers do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is nothing wrong with being an technician or electrician but please I am sick of people using the term Engineer for everything. EE involves more maths than any other Eng disciplines and also a lot of theory. Electronic Eng is something a bit different but one can study both a the same time or as two separate disciplines. In general Electronics is linked to Communication or Computer Eng.

  • I was talking to a man yesterday he installs tv aerials and he showed me his work badge and it said engineer

And he also calls himself engineer because he can install cables and cctv cameras

What kind of Math is used for EE?

  • @cristoretornebiblia Hi, to be able to call yourself engineer you need at least a BEng which is a Bachelor degree in Engineering or a BSc (Bachelor of Science) in a engineering related discipline and/or an accreditation by IET in the UK same for most EU countries to their respective Engineering Institutions. without an accreditiation by Eng. Institution you are not an engineer but may call yourself technician. Hope this helps. If you need more infos you can send me a private message.

  • @cristoretornebiblia For Math it depends in which EE field you are working. Differential equations, Complex analysis, Fourier transform, Laplace transform, Vector Calculus, Stochastic processes, Boolean algebra, Taylor series, Engineering Statistics and more. But you need to be comfortable with Algebra, Trig and Calculus in general.

  • mathematics...

    Calculus...Laplace transforms,,,higher math...it doesnt matter,,,just work hard....

  • Thank

    you, very true

  • @cristoretornebiblia Tupeutlatesla is right. Engineering is defined as the application of math and science. MIT has a large EE department. You can just look up some of their videos on YT about circuits or electricity and magnetism and you'll see why. As far as that cable installation guy goes, I'm not surprised. It's because of idiots like him and this jackass in the video that people are leaving all of these comments in the first place.

  • @cristoretorne biblia It is easy to distinguish the two by looking at their salaries. That guy installs tv aerials (and very importantly, cameras)in the rain and is maybe on 24K a year. The engineer designs the cable he installs and the camera too from behind a desk and earns anything from 30-70K plus.

  • u can just look at this guy and tell hes too dim to be a real engineer.

  • he is more of an electrician this is a very bad representation of an engineers work

  • he is not an engineer. you can do this job by taking some technical coarses.

  • This is definitely not what an engineer does. This guy is a linesman there is a HUGE difference.

  • Seriously! I am sick of people using the term Engineer whenever they want.

  • what do ee's do, im thinking about majoring in it

  • My concentration is in microelectronics. Many EE's work in this field designing ASIC's and microcontrollers or complete systems such as cell phones, computer hardware, ect. There are many different concentrations but basically EE's design new technologies or do research that leads to this development, they dont climb telephone poles. It's a lot of math and physics but I encourage you to look into it because it's very rewarding.

  • They don't climb poles, order parts, or wait on-call to troubleshoot. They put all of their design efforts and calculations on a set of plans and specifications, seal it, and hand it to some fool like this guy to execute. And yes, it's very rewarding.

  • yup....EE does not climb post...it the work of a lineman...

  • @MrWampusLOL! A lot of construction workers are like that in America. Electricians conidering themselves as Electrical Engineers. Laborers, carpenters, masons and foremen considering themselves as Construction Engineers and Civil Engineers.

  • @Spart1998 i totally agree its so annoying im studdying electrical engineering and this is not it lmfao

  • I've never seen an Engineer take a job as a line worker.

  • :57 now thats what i call a rewarding career

  • at 59 this guy has a "danger of death". This is what i want to do when i graduate college. Im still in high school though. I live in new jersey and i need to know what the best college is in the tri state area that i can go to to major in electrical engineering

  • You don't need a degree in Electrical Engineering to do this.

  • What do you call the climbing "things" you were using on the pole? I have never seen anything like them.

  • thats a cool job

thats what i wanna do in future, im an electrical engineering major at university of Connecticut

  • out of curiosity how much tuition do you pay a year, lets say for 10 courses.

  • well 10 ciurses is way to many

ussaly over semester you can take between 12-21 credits and this can range from 4 till 6 classes, the tuition itself is 3600

  • we do 2 semesters of 5-7 courses each in a year. But the thing is we get subsidized 90% by our government here in Canada. I've heard that school in the states is about 10 times more expensive because you guys don't have any help from the gov. so without scholarchips of any kind are you still paying 3600 per term?

  • yes without any help i will be paying 3600 dollars per semester, but each student is eligible to apply for federal student aid. last year i received 1200 off each semester but this year i only received 700 off. i also have other scholarships which is 3000 per school year,
