Yeah, he/she is desperate for some swimming room unfortunately. It is typically recommended that goldfish have a minimum of 10 gallons per fish. They can grow up to 12 inches and live over 10 yrs when cared for properly. If you cannot afford to upgrade right now, you can use a large plastic storage bin temporarily (with filter and airstone).
