That aside, I wont argue that an ISF can keep up from 0-60, but I will argue that from 60mph...and even 40mph to whatever speed, the ISF doesn't stand a chance. I might add, the only way the ISF makes a comparable 0-60 time is by using an 8 speed AUTOMATIC which sucks more and more the faster you go

On a short highway run I would expect these two cars to be similar in acceleration. The extra 80hp in the M won't be visible until greater distances. Its not just a numbers game. You have to understand how the power band of a vehicle work. Period.
@DaG37boy absolutely agree...the way it shows those 80 hp will be 1/4 mile times or very long race like a mile race...but from a roll and racing less the 6 seconds very little noticable difference between the two. but like i said..if you race from a dig...the isf won't touch a M5.
@zlgreene A stock 2010-2011 ISF will hands down beat an M5. A 2008-2009 ISF will not. The newer ISF's have revised suspensions, etc. One of the top auto magazines (dont remember which one) took the M3 vs newer ISF's around the track and they were identical in times. The M3 is faster than an M5.

@dano92580 The ISF is a great car for the money. It is fast, reliable and cheap to fix. All around good car. BUT it is not as fast as the M5 past 100 MPH. I drive an E60 M5 and have raced several ISFs. It has been close each time up to 100MPH, but the M5 has two more cylinders and just pulls away.
The E92 M3 is not as fast as the E60 in a straight line. It is VERY VERY close, but my girlfriend's M3 just is not as fast.

I was in the M5 and it was in the 500+ HP mode.. Here is what you do not see in the video. The ISF took off first and we were pulling him in. To get an idea watch when we (M5) floor it getting on the freeway and the ISF floors it. I am a Toyota lover at heart and have owned Toyota's and Lexus my whole life and still do. In all honestly the M5 and ISF are two differnt animals. With the mods done to the M5 we would easily pull on an ISF in a straight line and the twisties.. ISF still a great car!

At it's time the only car u could compare it with is the Ferrari 430. So lets take it this way,: in 2005, there was a saloon that carries a high revving V10 pushing 507hp going through 7 speed SMG and in car with a remap-able ECU. It's an M5, it's magic. Next M5 will get KERS BTW and thats seriously sophisticated :).

@zlgreene A stock 2010-2011 ISF will hands down beat an M5. A 2008-2009 ISF will not. The newer ISF's have revised suspensions, etc. One of the top auto magazines (dont remember which one) took the M3 vs newer ISF's around the track and they were identical in times. The M3 is faster than an M5.

@dano92580 The ISF is a great car for the money. It is fast, reliable and cheap to fix. All around good car. BUT it is not as fast as the M5 past 100 MPH. I drive an E60 M5 and have raced several ISFs. It has been close each time up to 100MPH, but the M5 has two more cylinders and just pulls away.
The E92 M3 is not as fast as the E60 in a straight line. It is VERY VERY close, but my girlfriend's M3 just is not as fast.

I was in the M5 and it was in the 500+ HP mode.. Here is what you do not see in the video. The ISF took off first and we were pulling him in. To get an idea watch when we (M5) floor it getting on the freeway and the ISF floors it. I am a Toyota lover at heart and have owned Toyota's and Lexus my whole life and still do. In all honestly the M5 and ISF are two differnt animals. With the mods done to the M5 we would easily pull on an ISF in a straight line and the twisties.. ISF still a great car!

It's the car more than the driver. I have spanked M3, M5, Z06, M COUPE, CS4 on the track with my 2008 F. Who cares about straight line speed. Can't wait for my 2010 F to arrive with a mecanical LSD!!
At this level of performance, the driver makes all the difference. I even spanked an R8!!
On the flip side, I got my ass handed to by a cobalt SS with a great driver!!

The M5 probably wasn't even set to 500 HP...it needs to be set through the idrive.

The IS-F is just a beast of a sedan and I love it. I drive a auto too and I always have my hand on the gearbox. That's where people rest their hands. It has nothing to do with wanting a MT.

You are correct, the IS F only comes with an eight speed automatic. The IS 250 is available with a manual transmission.

It's obvious that the ISF was going on full power as there is no problems doing it. But for the M5 u just can't go on M mode while cruising!!! it will burn the mpg, plus if ur on M mode u will need an open road my friend :)

In M-mod the car gains more hp, more torque and faster shifts through gears = more mpg even if ur not going fast! so why go M mode if ur cruising??. Plus you can't hit 330km/h unless ur in M-mode which will change everything. BMWs are to complicated for u kid :)

@justincrap It doesnt gain more torque and hp by adding 2000cc to the original displacement , it just changes ignition times a bit so it doesnt burn fuel economy significantly. And please tell me whats complicated about the BMW? Classical RWD with single clutch auto trans. and programmable ECU...check out GTR R35 and then u ll see "complicated". If u are interested in BMWs and u clearly are , than try to learn some real knowledge about them and not just common crap , also dont be sucha fanboy

@RenaultSport133 I don't need to check the GTR, it's just another supercar. Talking about the E60 M5, keep in mind that it was out in 2005 and it's a only a saloon not a supercar. At it's time the only car u could compare it with is the Ferrari 430. So lets take it this way,: in 2005, there was a saloon that carries a high revving V10 pushing 507hp going through 7 speed SMG and in car with a remap-able ECU. It's an M5, it's magic. Next M5 will get KERS BTW and thats seriously sophisticated :).

@bmw335xdrive, if the M5 was really set to 400 mode then it would be considerably slower than the IS-F.. gotta keep in mind that the IS-F has gearing and weight advantages. With 500 mode it should barely edge out the IS-F. Drivers race really.

@bmw335xdrive excuse me, let me correct you.. to put it in M mode all you have to do is push a button thats on the steering wheel that has a big M in it and it will automatically change the transmission to its most aggressive shifting, the seats more active to hold you when you turn and the engine to 507hp.. theres no idrive needed there.. stop being such a sore looser..
