a fundamental mistake being made by the tea party people is that they fail to recognize that while threats can certainly come from an oppressive, large govt- they can ALSO come from an over-powerful and corrupt private sector.
History shows us this happening time and time again. Go read about the gilded age- a time not very different than our own- when big govt worked on behalf of big business, AGAINST the will of the PEOPLE.
I wish you guys could see the OTHER threats- not JUST from Govt.
Great Video. Yes, we need to rise up again, to fight the corporate influence over our government, just like they did in 1773, when the British East India Company (which was heavily invested by the British government) tried to force it's cheap merchandice upon our economy and undermine our smaller businesses with an unfair tax while they paid nothing. We must tell the corporate elites and those in our government who have been paid for, by them, that we will not tolerate their crony capitalism!!
Let us remember all those patriots who resisted the tax man (IRS) and now languish in debtors prisons across the country. The Federal government knows these folks are innocent, but imprisons them as examples to others. The Feds want to keep you living in fear because the Feds fear a slave rebellion above all else. The income tax is a fraud. It is tyranny pure and simple. Know the truth visit "truth attack . org"
let's not forget taxes will be cut for 95% of the country and remain lower than they were under Reagan for the other 5 percent. Fucking nutjobs socialism is not raising the taxes on the top 5% of income by around 3%??? ummm what?
Ever heard of the general welfare in the constitution...That's what Obama is striving to protect an infrastructure that was completely forgotten about under the bush years.
Let's not forget when bush got control of the country we had trillions of $ in surplus
Why is English American? It's English. You should learn some native language. Anyway, your country is named after an Italian. Maybe you should speak that language. It doesn't matter. You'll never be an entirely English country no matter how much you punish those who don't speak English. Half of your country is Spanish. A lot of it was previously part of Mexico and many cities have Spanish names. You're in debt to China and Times Square is full of Japanese neon.
Why? Because Chinese is a much more expressive language than English? You're afraid people might actually be speaking the truth? Americans are too stupid to learn Chinese anyway, so don't worry.
I agree Americans today are stupid but that's due to the dumbing down of our public educational systems. Politicians know it's easier to govern stupid people so you've been told it's not nice to fail a child that can't read, or do simple math. That's how we got all the stupid Americans that have allowed political parties to gain so much power. From your stupid comment, you must be one of the under achievers that were given the High School mercy degrees.
Punish people who don't speak English? You must be joking... If you're referring to Spanish speaking illegal aliens, they get better healthcare than U.S. Citizens. They also don't pay taxes, can send their children to public schools which are required to hold classes in Spanish for non-speakers, and they can collect food stamps. Trust me, they're hardly punished.
"Where there's a will, there's a way" and hard-working immigrants live accordingly, instead of blaming others for their challenges.
This country needs an enema, Obama , Pelosi,Reid are turds! and the sooner they are flushed out of our political system the better the country will feel !
While I admire what these people are doing, a couple hundred (maybe thousand) people nationwide won't make a bit of difference. Having a few protests and sending teabags to some elected officials is an absolute waste of time and won't change a thing.
There is really only one way to make real changes but I think Americans are to comfortable (cowardly?) to do what really needs to be done. I guess for now some teabags will have to do but like I said it's just a waste of time.

Our nation is a republic, with electable representatives who allegedly will represent us on our behalf, but I believe that we need to take a step towards becoming an active democracy in which the citizenry plays a role in the influence and development of legislation. At the end of the day, I feel that a citizen can represent their own interests better than a politician.
I believe that is exactly what the 'citizenry' is try to start doing with this tea party protests. It's a start. Of course it won't change over night, but if it's not too late, the outcry of protest should start to bring about changes. Also, people will get a refresher course on civic responsibility. We can't just elect people and expect them to be responsible legislators without staying on top of them. "We the people", need to hold them accountable!
The dilemma in my mind is not the size of government, but rather to the extent it permits the active participation of our citizenry. We have observed the exponential growth of government hand in hand with excess and greed, however if the citizens of our country have more influence in the political and economic affairs our country, I believe that we can combat our crisis. (cont.)
As a result, our economic system largely removed restraints which has emboldened corporations and banks to make reckless economic decisions and leaving citizens like you and me to foot the bill. There are many cases where governments let the free market take the wheel and steer with the end result being disaster, I point to the argentinian 2001 economic collapse and the recent troubles of Iceland and Greece.(cont.)
Hey Gark, This isn't about Dems vs Reps, this is about the future of America. Why don't you do yourself a favor and stop watching the evening news for all your information. Do some research, read some books, take a real look at what's happening to our country! These tea parties aren't filled with republicans who are sore losers, they are people from all parties who have read and understand what's going on and are furious with Washington politics as usual.
Enron was one company not all of wall street ganging up on and squeezing the little guy. If you protested anything about the war in Iraq, you were branded "unpatriotic." The $4.00/gallon gas is about another year away. Hopefully we know better this time and do our patriotic duty and protest. Another reason for the nonprotests during the Bush administration is (in my opinion) I think most Americans are apathetic and will be until the really start getting screwed...which will be shortly.
My comment was meant to make representations as well as question the protesters aims. My comment about Enron was meant to point out corporate corruption and the $4.00 per gallon gas was meant to be a symbol of our extortion and exploitation.
I think all the government excess and abuse just hit 'critical mass' with Barry Obama's election. Sure Bush screwed up and pre-socialized the economy with that first TARP, but Obama came in on his "hope and "change" ticket and not only followed suit, he made it worse with the biggest park laden spending bill in the history of PIGS, and then the car company bail outs, and the mortgage bailouts (which will primarily go to Democratic states) and barely a day goes by without promise of more!
I freely confess that at the time of the Enron scandal I was at an age where I was blissfully unaware of the event, however I assumed that the protesters in this video were mature enough back then to have the capacity for action. I do not dispute their right to protest, however I enjoy my freedom to protest against their aims.
Right on, but at the same time we can't expect things to heal themselves over night, nor should we be tempted by the false prosperity we once lived under. Rather, I hope that out of all this comes a new economic model that will foster employment and dignity while at the same time constrain the corporate interests that have pushed us to the brink of disaster.
New economic model? We don't need a new model, capitalism works just fine when government stays out of it. It's the governement and it's loop holes and regulations...yada yada yada that screws up the works. It's call "free market economy". It works, and it's THE ONLY WAY that new jobs will be fostered. Big government is every bit as culpable in this "brink" as the giant corps. who donate to campaigns for special treatment. Hence the protesting.
this is the powerful type of masterpiece that can truly win sympathic hearts and minds - Wow! Love the "Born an American song. Who is the artist? Loved the framing of the video as an exploration of seeking the answer to the question "Why are we all here?" Did I say WOW! ?

I'm glad this vid seemed to find a couple black people that seemed to support the Tea Party - in all the other vids I've seen of the Tea Party so far, there has been one black person and it was the individual chanting Obama's name.
Funny how "We The People" only freaked out when a Democrat is in the White House and a black one to boot. Piece of shit Republicans.

Americans must put America first before any and all other global interests.
Americans don't use hyphens to identify ourselves.
Americans don't apologize to other nations for those nations falts.
Americans don't allow other nations to dictate our policies.
Americans speak English as our primary language.

I like your thinking, we can't be distracted by the whole Dems vs. Reps debate,
its pointless, they've both screwed up and it keeps people distracted from the
urgent issues that face this country. However, it is my opinion that we do need
a new economic model, because for years the neo-liberal economic model used by
our country has emphasized privatization and deregulation as cornerstones to economic prosperity.(cont.)
