hp is meaningless, a good torque curve is about 100x more important than a high hp, and there is no way this car is hitting even close to 600. only amateurs use hp to determine a cars worth (speed).
@Q4Rspwn HP is a calculation of torque over time, it is not a measured value. It is simply a value that helps racers see the correlation between the engine speed and the torque of the engine. Yes it has value, because it can help you determine your power band. However using the peak HP to claim an engine is powerful is simply stupid. For example, an 04 saab 9-3 linear has 177 ft lbs @ 5000rpm (177*5000= 885000 / 5252 = 169 HP) so at 5000rpm we have 169 HP. As you see torque is more important.
@SleepyMongoose That's not entirely true about torque being more important. You can have 450HP and 220 FT Pounds of torque in a light car and it'd be stupid fast. Torque is low end (gets the car moving), and HP is top end (gets the car moving fast). 100HP and 500 Ft pounds would be a turtle that could pull a trailer with proper gearing. It's all in the cam profile. Ideally, you want lots of torque early, with a wide torque power band, and whatever HP to achieve the speeds you're looking for.
@CarpathianCarl This "100HP and 500 Ft pounds" engine you speak of would have a redline of about 1000 rpm (just a little over the idle speed of most cars)...so no shit it would be slow...I will say it again, HP is not a measurable value, it is a calculated value of torque compared to time (rpm in this case).

Now, think of a 5500 # truck, it'll need LOTS of torque to get up and go and LOTS of HP to go FAST. With the right CAM, a Turbo Diesel *can* run higher RPM's.

Diesel's also "compress" the diesel fuel for an explosion, whereas gas engines need a spark plug to ignite. Semi trucks make around 2500 to 4000 ft pounds of torque, and only about 400-650hp (often less HP), but they're super heavy, so they'd need MORE HP to be faster. Also, most highway semi's have a MAX RPM of 2200rpm's, where a car is usually around 6500.
@Q4Rspwn So, the simple answer is Diesel's need MORE HP and a better camshaft profile to be as fast as a similar gas engine. I think a big reason they're tuned down is emissions. The higher performance Diesel's puke black smoke and stink, but have the potential to make heavy vehicles VERY fast with lots of boost from a turbo.

Hahaha i dina drömmar. Körde här om dagen Saab 9-5 Aero 2003a och det var då dom slöaste 250hk jag någonsin kört, turbon likaväl den slö som in i helvete. Tillomed min orginalturbo från 96 har mer i sig att ge än Saabens. Saabens var ju helt slut så alltså rena jävla skiten :)

@derner90 Volvo e fina bilar, går hyfsat bra och är säkra. Volvosarna innan 850 kan jag ju hålla med om att dom kunde gå 30K mil utan problem, men bilar var så mycket mer simpla på den tiden och var inte fullproppade av allt möjligt som dom är idag. Min 850 har gått 22K mil nu utan några större problem så tycker kvalitén på dens grejer är hyfsat bra också.
Skillnaden mellan Volvo och Saab är ju att i en Volvo kan man gå ut o köra skiten ur en lördagskväll och fortfarande ha en väl fungerande bil kvar dagen efter. Saab kommer man få byta halva motorn på och självklart den där lådan också som är som en säck potatis om man ska köra med den igen. Hur som helst, om det skulle bli en ny bil så blir det någon sportigare modell av Volvo och inte någon jädra Merca. Nu orkar jag inte snacka med dig längre.

Ok it may be fun, but what about touque-steer, under-steer,yes the straight line acceleration may be teriffic, the stock car (Aero 2.3T) has an incredible acceleration, but what about taking corners under heavy acceleration?

Ive driven an Alfa 156 GTA and that has 256hp and it handles incredibly well. Virtually no torque steer and very little understeer. i'm sure it could take another 50hp quite easily with a limited slip differential fitted. The new Ford Focus ST is also going to be 305hp and i doubt they would put that much power in it if they thought it couldnt handle it.
my cousins parents had a saab, i liked it alot coz it had all sorts of gadgets like electric windows n so on :D but now, I dont like em at all.. they dont look nice (matter of taste, this is just my personal opinion) they are FWD so not much fun to be had there

Hahaha i dina drömmar. Körde här om dagen Saab 9-5 Aero 2003a och det var då dom slöaste 250hk jag någonsin kört, turbon likaväl den slö som in i helvete. Tillomed min orginalturbo från 96 har mer i sig att ge än Saabens. Saabens var ju helt slut så alltså rena jävla skiten :)

@derner90 Nja en trimmad Volvo får ner kraften i backen mycket bättre än vad slöa Saabs får. Plus att Volvo är mycket snyggare och har en rak 5a som låter nästan som en Dodge Viper V10a när man drar på. Saabs 4or låter som en våldtagen kossa eller något när man gasar, tjockt o mörkt ljud.

@derner90 Tro du vad du vill, alla trimmade Volvos jag kört har oftast ett jävla bra grepp när man drar på. Även kört trimmade Saabs och där är det ju tvärtom, inte känns bilen bara seg men den släpper ganska lätt. Inte för att tala om att många Saabägare byter faktiskt upp sig till Volvos många gånger, dock aldrig hört någon Volvoägare som bytt ner sig till Saab ;). Merca e då ett jävla skitmärke iallafall, jädra gubbil.

Jo klart det finns ju andra bilar med mer kräm i än Volvo och Saab men om man ska jämföra dom 2 så tycker jag Volvo får ut kraften mycket bättre än vad Saab får. Även har Volvos en råare look tycker jag, Saab har dom där runda fula pensionärsformerna. Bakpartiet är ju verkligen värst.

Låter tillomed ännu värre när man smäller på 3tum på skiten, BÖAR det ännu mer. Dom låter bara otroligt segt alltså medans Volvos låter pigga. Skiter också i om du kör Merca, det är en jävla gubb bil, ja dom kanske kan gå som fan men kostar också plånboken om skiten pajjar.

@derner90 När har jag sagt att 850 är bäst? Aldrig. Jag råkar ju då äga en för jag gillar den men aldrig sagt att det är den bästa bilen som finns, men den är ju bättre än stort sett alla Saabar. Saab har ju alltid haft något problem med sina bilar. På 90-talet och lite in på 00-talet var det skitlådor, sen hinkande den ju även i sig olja som tusan. Läste också att den mest bärgade bilen på Autobahn var faktiskt Saab ;). Och jag gillar Audi har jag sagt, men inte Merca.

@derner90 Jag har aldrig sagt att Merca går dåligt men jag tycker det är en gubb bil och den ser ganska tråkig ut. Och den du skickade där är ju också lite väl dyr, en för dyr bil helt enkelt och dyr om den går sönder. Skulle jag slänga ut 300 lakan så skulle det gott väl bli en Volvo ändå.

@derner90 Volvo e fina bilar, går hyfsat bra och är säkra. Volvosarna innan 850 kan jag ju hålla med om att dom kunde gå 30K mil utan problem, men bilar var så mycket mer simpla på den tiden och var inte fullproppade av allt möjligt som dom är idag. Min 850 har gått 22K mil nu utan några större problem så tycker kvalitén på dens grejer är hyfsat bra också.

Skillnaden mellan Volvo och Saab är ju att i en Volvo kan man gå ut o köra skiten ur en lördagskväll och fortfarande ha en väl fungerande bil kvar dagen efter. Saab kommer man få byta halva motorn på och självklart den där lådan också som är som en säck potatis om man ska köra med den igen. Hur som helst, om det skulle bli en ny bil så blir det någon sportigare modell av Volvo och inte någon jädra Merca. Nu orkar jag inte snacka med dig längre.

Aldrig med container, japs, hitler eller spaggebil.

Ok it may be fun, but what about touque-steer, under-steer,yes the straight line acceleration may be teriffic, the stock car (Aero 2.3T) has an incredible acceleration, but what about taking corners under heavy acceleration?
It's true your tunning it's not over the top it's ok.

Ive driven an Alfa 156 GTA and that has 256hp and it handles incredibly well. Virtually no torque steer and very little understeer. i'm sure it could take another 50hp quite easily with a limited slip differential fitted. The new Ford Focus ST is also going to be 305hp and i doubt they would put that much power in it if they thought it couldnt handle it.

my cousins parents had a saab, i liked it alot coz it had all sorts of gadgets like electric windows n so on :D but now, I dont like em at all.. they dont look nice (matter of taste, this is just my personal opinion) they are FWD so not much fun to be had there

Then why are you on this video? an e30 is much older, uglier and about 100hp down on a 9-3 viggen. Even the top of the range e30 was 60hp down.
BMWs are the most common car on the road and exclusivity is completely non existent. Thats a very important factor in any car as far as im concerned.

e30 coupe is wayyyyy better looking than any saab... its a classic. how many e30 have you recently seen?also how many saabs do you see in drifting or other competitions? saab is an old mans car, it has front wheel drive - not a drivers car. and i prefer german cars coz they are more reliable and have better engineering.THAT IS MY OPINION, I KNOW U WILL SAY SAAB IS BETTER, COZ U OBVIOUSLY LIKE EM MORE THAN ME AND ITS A MATTER OF TASTE, SO NO NEED TO HATE ME

I dont agree with you on looks at all here. A nice e30 is okay but most look crap. In my town alone which only has about 5000 people in it, there are at least 4 e30 BMWs. They were rare a few years ago but for some reason they seem to have come into fashion with boy racers lately.
And what is it with BMW fans saying that every other car is for old people. Thats all they ever say on videos. If you think thats the case you obviously dont know much about Saab owners.

The Vauxhall Vectra also sells well, it doesnt mean it was a good car. BMW do try to market themselves up there with mercedes but they clearly arent as prestigious.
Saabs have a very loyal following from people who enjoy driving something just a little bit different. The e30 was a pretty cool car but i just wouldnt buy one.
