  • This is for little kids, I loved this when I was 5

  • I still use it on my old PC, it's kinda fun.

  • Tal vez si Windows pensara otra vez de esta manera mas divertida superaria a Apple, sus productos tendrian ese toque q a la mayoria nos gusta

  • everything about that p.o.s. front end is annoying, everything! :(

  • Cinco's Innernette is a better operating system.

  • Looks better than the windows 8 Interface :D

  • the windows 8 desktop

  • What the fuck is this shit? Is it aimed at 5 year olds?

  • LOL this is pretty funny, but maybe this would work for little kids.

  • Comment removed

  • this shit stinks,my god,obviously its the work of a woman,such shit,agh

  • You'd feel much better toward this if you were seven or so when you started using it.

I liked it, anyway. I used to mess with it all the time on my dad's 95. It still resides in my brother's room.

  • iThink apple like Microsoft Bob, but Steve Jobs know this kinda ui was not right 4 tht time.

after 14 years, they use morden version of this ui in iPad. just look at calender & compare it with ipad.

  • This was the first computer program I ever used.

  • Still better then Vista!

  • I can understand this actually being helpful for the computer illiterate or for a child that doesn't really quite understand computer yet, however I couldn't imagine using this for any other reason.... all that work just to write a letter ._. crazy...

  • My god the dog is worse than that fucking annoying paperclip that was in Word forever.

  • so very annoying!! PURGE!!

  • so what is so bad about it?

  • M'soft always does SO much for SO little. I mean, if I wanted to - let's say - JUST write a letter, look at the hoops needed to go through JUST to write a frakkin' letter.

  • Enjoy the flick! -_-

  • I liked!

  • looks like the interface for a 2-year old

  • I Think it Would've Worked Perfectly With Kids, as well as with less experienced computer users :)

  • I loved this OS so much when I used it. Shame i had to get a new pc ;-(

  • No wonder it was hated! it's too kiddish for adults like seriously i'm gonna let a book with nerd glasses tell me how to run my checkbook! i can see it good for young kid but not an adult

  • i wish this kind of program will be released at win 7 or win xp but with another name like "Microsoft Steve" but bob is nice ;)

  • @xazero I agree. Some pepole don't like it because it has cartoons! But, I like it, because my son likes it!

  • MICROSOFT BOB !!!!

    MY FAVORITE OS !!!!!!

  • This is just like any Facebook-game.

  • This was my favorite program as a child ever, not even joking. I still think it's incredible. I didn't even know it was hated until now. I would definitely buy it again if I had the chance, but maybe it's the fact that I look at it as a game, instead of an actual program. All I know is I had tons of fun decorating the rooms and playing GeoSafari.

  • THOSE SOUND EFFECTS

  • Where's Bob? I can only see Rover and some elephant. Maybe the elephant is Bob.

  • Good ol' Rover.

  • 0:09 Its Rover The Dog, He is BACK on Windows XP!

  • "good one?!"

Man thats a strange elephant. Its actually quite disturbing. The audio's really bad and i can tell whether its asking a question or if its angry at me.

  • This is that bad that I can't even finish watching the video!!!!

  • So this is basically just running your OS with a kids'-game interface? ...

God, I can see why this didn't fly.

  • This looks like an old kids game.

  • i like this. but the programs on it suck

  • I remember playing with Bob that was setup on a computer at Sears when it first came out. Ah, Bob...you crazy, crazy bastard.

  • @xazero

Yeah, indeed. I suggest try to use it, you'll change your mind ;-)

  • @i386dx =.( I LOVED this program!!! It's Perfect for kids! I was about 12 when it came out and while i agree it's not for adults who prefer things boring and business, it was very useful, educational, and entertaining. As one of the early programs, it had so much more to do and interact with than others of its time. kids love pushing extra buttons and extra "unnecessary" features lol. The kid in me is so sad that it's gone. so sad.

  • @BenEin33 From a kids point of view, you are probably right. I also was only a kid when this program was released, but I didn't know it then, so cannot say anything about it. I 'worked' with it for the first time a couple of years ago...

  • this is awesome I'm going to install this on my computer!

  • Yeah, it sucks, but you have to admit that having an "Onward!" button is pretty awesome.

  • Is this the biggest epic fail in computer history?

  • Not acres, access (sorry)

  • I love bob! I have it on my iPad (I acres my computer remotely from the iPad and then run a virtual machine that has ms bob installed, open bob and there it is!

  • *Pukes*

  • NIce addon from windows 95 did you pay for it

  • awesome and cute

  • @DanielChristy19 It's probably not an easter egg because search is RIGHT lN TEH STAHRT. (l spell Iike that on purpose, plus l replaced L's with I's. And replaced I's with L's :P)

  • I had an old Windows 95 program called Creative Writer and it seems like the interface and dialogue graphics were influenced by Bob (Although creative writer was good for what it was meant for and this looks like it sucked).

  • So which ones bob?

  • lol i never know this programm

  • 100% wierd

  • woah I don't know why ms bob is still on my windows 95

  • Given the "era" bob was provided, this wasn't really that horrible, regarding GUI. For someone who is used to organizing their life comfortably, digitally, it's silly. If they had made "Bob NT"...we'd see this as a common UI now. In fact, on websites, we see it regularly (sans the "buddy").

One thing we can all agree on. Users are stupid.

  • @englanddg what websites are these?

  • @Gaiacarra Facebook, for one.

  • @englanddg in what way? Facebook doesn't model itself after a physical real-world space.

  • @Gaiacarra If they had made "Bob NT"...we'd see this as a common UI now. In fact, on websites, we see it regularly (sans the "buddy"). I think that's the part you missed. This is not facebook, but there is a reason we moved beyond hieroglyphics as a society.

  • bob is totaly crap

  • whoa what an eyesore i can't immagine how someone thought this is a good idea...

  • meh better than vista

  • @Joshloft

    yeah

  • Wow, brings back memories. Remember when things used to say "Just click-" trying to make everything sound easy, but really just seems more convoluted. Remember when picking boarders for documents used to be "fun." Remember when things used to have "2000" at the end of it just to make it look cool. Remembers when if you had to buy something, you still had to call by phone.

  • -_-

  • Never head of this until today. Doesn't look that bad... but then again... But still it was for Windows 95.

  • @EnsignKing and 3X systems.

  • LOL windows bob -_- better than windows vista

  • Microsoft should have integrated this with DOS like they did with Windows, then we would all be forced to use it. muhahahaha

  • @LlamaLlandPictures

    I'd rather use DOS.

  • @vladmirgc I would rather go back too using command lines than bob

  • I've actually found a way to eliminate Rover from the Login Screen! I'll put it as a reply later.

  • Looks like a Kids Computer Video game lol

  • Also more stable than Windows ME.

  • WOW.

What person in their right minds would use this?

    6-year olds that who!

  • WHAT WERE THEY SMOKING

  • Whats so bad about this? This was the shit back in the day. It still is. MS Bob is what I grew up on. Its the best app.

  • Yeah Bill Gates wife Melinda was responsible for Microsoft BoB.

  • I fucking loved this as a kid.

  • lol i loved this, i still use it sometimes when im really board lol

  • lol windows for kids!

  • That disturbs me and rover is thinking: what the hell where the fuck am I

  • lo has hecho VMware

  • Δεν είναι και κακο.Το κατέβασα και μου άρεσε!

  • @Teowii121 Swvara?

  • It's funny! I'll install it on Virtual PC to play at odd moments.

  • Its bad, but not as bad as the first Flight Simulator game...it used red geometric shapes....unreal

  • only in to vid 1 min and turned it off ms bob is shit

  • Truly I believe that Microsoft Bob is wonderful, honestly it looks allot better than iOS4 and allot more advanced also. Yay for not being a sheep and having a 'gurlfriend'. How life affirming.

  • @TheAccountOfDarkness If I was capable of emitting emotions right now, I'd probably say 8/10 - it's not 10/10 because you could have put more effort to convince people of your troll.

  • One of the first programs I used - I thought it was really cool :)

I used to spend all my time on this and Encarta Encyclopaedia - hours of fun :)

    How naive little kids are...

  • Windows 95 is the worst !

  • at least it doesn't blue screen like windows ME

  • I <3 it! Sounds like fun!

  • The sound effects are very loud and annoying.

  • It hurts my eyes

  • For some reason watching this annoys me completely and utterly.

I think it's the sound effects.

  • I remember seeing this as a kid, and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

Boy was I young and naive. However it maybe would have been good as a program marketed to kids to jumpstart computer education.

  • this is depressing

  • ._.

  • Well it can do more stuff than a mac :)

  • @TheMatt7000 what's the point in that comment? you're a moron.

  • @jnixon85, /watch?v=IBdSl7yeIiw

  • I while I was searching, I found a version of MSBob, Here it is r a p i d s h a r e . c o m /files/75752829/msbob.rar

  • It looks like the most user-friendly gui ever. I wonder why it didn't catch on....

  • Ugh... i cant find right words to say how it is...

  • Wow, you were probably going to write a complaint about this program.

  • M$ Bob was just too obviously M$'s way of trying to appeal to Apple users' level of "intelligence" (or the average intellect of today's WalMart computer shopper, take your pick). *heh*

  • @mnmus or for grandparents

  • its amazing tht only 15 years ago this was good software we have come soo far

  • What's even more horrible, there were countless outrageously stupid clones of Bob made in China, even long after the flop of Bob. LOL

  • this looks like a learning program for toddlers.

  • lol bob was a joke, this shows it.

  • Oohhhh, that good ol' Bob, I couldn't live without THAT PIECE OF SHIT MADE INTO SOFTWARE!

And gotta love how Rover (called "Rufus" in spanish version of XP) looks! XD

  • Why is there a hook at the top middle early on?

Seriously, are they going to be lifting cargo?

  • were do you get it

  • Haha, my brother and I used to play Geosafari Bob together when we were little! So fun! :D

  • the best game made at this time was the hanted hose game

  • reminds me of jumpstart 3rd grade

  • oh so thats where the dog on "search" on windows xp came from

  • The multitasker's dream...

  • Who would knock on there front door

(And the smile at the beginning looks like bill gates.)

  • I hope someone was fired for this..

sadly, it's more likely that someone got promoted for it.. :\

  • @eleriel

fired? a bit later she married bill...

  • i loved this program even if people put it down it reminds me of petville or pet society that have come after it

  • I do like the idea of a virtual home though. If it was a tad simpler, a 3D remake using modern graphics would be pretty awesome.

  • ... they actually thought that was user friendly.

  • @stperkin The Same Man thought that no one would ever need more than 64kb of ram memory!! hahah

  • @bigbenmadmc

Afaik this is a rumour * 640K ought to be enough for anybody: Often attributed to Gates in 1981. Gates considered the IBM PC's 640kB program memory a significant breakthrough over 8-bit systems that were typically limited to 64kB, but he has denied making this remark.

    Also see wikiquote -> Bill_Gates

  • I can see why you wouldn't like it. It seems so unnecessarily bulky and complicated. More like a computer game than an operating system.

  • God! So many manila-colored popups that they overlap one another!

  • The productivity suite, for pointy haired bosses.

  • Afaik the dog was called Rover.

  • this is a game?

  • no...

  • What a graphical user interface. Even kids would say, this is worthless

  • This would have been gd 4 kids

  • Microsoft, the White Castle of computer interfaces.

  • @Waterboyw00t its a fucking succes son

  • Besides, what kind of little kid wants a financial guide?

You know what a cool interface is? The LCARS from Star Trek. Look it up.

  • I'm gonna call the number at the bottom at 4:39, lol.

  • Good lord man, it DOES bring back fond memories though. My sisters and I used to make rooms like crazy :D

  • TBH, I don't see what's so bad about it. It just looks like an interactive desktop to me.

  • Man when I was 4 I thought this was the greatest thing ever...now I see why my dad deleted it off the then new computer really quickly.

  • Lol I was about that same age and I can remember messing with this for hours.

  • Bob Financial Guide is an ass. So true.

  • wow this is something like an operative system for RETARDS :S

  • IMO it seems like a lot of wasted work

  • FTW

  • Ktoś miał WINDOWS BOB =) ?

  • lol, its more functional than Vista :o

  • @XaxasOP :O you seem correct to me!

  • @XaxasOP it is!

  • The way they move the mouse around and sometimes vaguely click on things makes me wonder whether the creator of this video has ever, in fact, used a computer before.

  • @milsorgen And also how slow he/she is at typing.

  • can u give me download!

  • The dog is in Windows XP Search.

  • Wow... It may seem like "shit" compared to today's software, but just thinking of stuff back then... It must have been hell to program. I'd give this a thumbs up.

  • ya...

    id tumbs up it too

  • Dammit! That's more complicated looking than some programs made for children OVER 5 years old!

  • the only way that this could be practical is to have your kids use "bob"

  • KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!11!!!

  • I can only imagine the sheer brutal horror of supporting this kind of software to a office. i dont think i would be able to do the company it alone anymore.

  • This is awesome.

  • Are my eyes supposed to bleed like this?

  • Ahahaha!! It's so bad it's funny

  • Oh man, I remember playing with this on my parents' computer when I was a little kid (I'm 20 now). I had no idea what it was actually supposed to be used for, and all I did was make rooms and decorate them.

  • Argh the pain!!! I had to stop watching arrrggghhhh

  • This is the way operating systems should be.

  • I think what we could use is this ui...but with support for all file types & all current technologies, (usb file trnasfer, websites, yada yada,) &...better sound.

  • Yep. Me too

  • Somehow, someway I think this ui rules!

  • I am a Mac user and let me say - this is the best fucking app ever written. Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office, Crysis? Fuck that shit! Microsoft Bob, bitches!

MS should make new versions of this masterpiece.

  • @likeupskirts Let me guess. Satire!?

  • LOL its like one of those programs to help infants at school. It would be interesting to see how much ram it uses.

  • @kaboooom2000uk, not more than 20 mB ram because it was for win3.1
