  • When things are getting a bit on top of you at work/personal life or whatever, this is the tune to brighten up the situation...great stuff.

  • God, this reminds me of being a kid.

  • If there was an antidote to depression, this would be it

  • Greatest comedy performers of all time

  • I'm sorry about this... Just perfect... :)

  • 8 people have no sunshine.

  • Who in their right mind would dislike this? These two are fantastic!

  • 8 PEOPLE Have no class-how can you not like these two ...shame on you 8 people..

  • grre5

  • i've just watched this episode! Coincidence or what! Love these two though, best double act I've seen (and I've seen a few)

  • simply brilliant

  • Thanks Eric and Ernie - Eric's legacy to Harefield Hospital saved my life last year when I was treated there after a heart attack so a big thank you to his family too.

  • How can there possibly be anyone who 'dislikes' this?? doesn't make sense to me!

  • 7 people have no sole!

  • @petemation Nah there are 8 miserable sods in the world now!!! In general so am I but not with E n E. and especially not with Bring me...

  • This is Ant and Dec when they're older!! Thumbs up if you agree ;) love them x

  • @mzShellzz

No, these two are far more talented than Ant and Dec! : )

  • @andyt2k thats the spirit !

  • We had to listen to this in assembly at school so funny when the deputy had starts dancing!!! LOL xxx

  • me and my friend sing this when we walk home from school (and we do the dance) RIP you two legends! xx

  • Wonderful stuff, we'll never see the likes of them again sadly

  • even eric as a proffessional lets out a mini giggle :) this song always brings me sunshine shame these 2 cant ne more :(

  • I like to think of them as the older bob mortimer and vic reeves

  • @THEGEORGEDUDE13

Vic and Bob are far more surreal- Morecambe and Wise were essentially from the music hall tradition, Vic and Bob are a lot more influenced by the Goons and their descendants, both Oxbridge (Python, Cook) and non-Oxbridge (Benny Hill, the 1980's "alternatives").

  • I sing this song every day.

I haven't been 'sad' as such [unless I'm really tired] for about 3 months.

I love these two. They were so excellent. True comedy heroes. And never fail to put a smile on my face. <3

  • Suddenly feel uplifted!! They never fail!!

  • Guaranteed instant pick me up! Thanks for posting.

  • The days when BBC had CLASS.

  • @matthe3234 I 100% agree with you. The BBC then were so proffesional and a proper team bringing compulsive television to millions.

  • @julka1 I would argue not that BBC professionalism has changed, but that the nature of entertainment has changed.

  • @matthe3234 I think the BBC continues to bring us great shows, it's just the type of show has changed. What about Sherlock, Great Expectations, Life On Mars/Ashes to Ashes, Frozen Planet, Hustle and Later With Jools Holland? Or comedies like Have I Got News For You or Would I Lie To You? It's ITV and channel 5 that lowers the level of class!!

  • Well said lankylad69 !

  • My gran died last tuesday and last night was her funeral, this was the song they played at the end of the service, not the orginal but the M + W version, I think she'd have loved it and I can play this and think of her and smile

  • I see BBC Then i see this

  • Dads funeral song - i loved him and he loved them

  • The lady at the end was Janet Webb - she only ever appeared at the end of the show and accepted the applause saying "I’d like to thank you for watching me and my little show here tonight. If you’ve enjoyed it then it's all been worthwhile. So until we meet again, goodnight, and I love you all!" M&W were always totally bemused as to who this persn was - sheer comic genius - we miss these guys!

  • i grew up laughing at these men being clowns.may the want to make people laugh and put a smile on their faces be enough

  • One of my regrets is that I was not born when this duo were performing...

  • @DHSeaVixen You missed some really great stuff, this pairing where magic. RIP Eric and thanks for all tthe laughter!

  • @DHSeaVixen me 2 bborn in the wrong generation these so called comdians have nothing on these 2

  • @DHSeaVixen One of my most thankful memories is they were when I was innocent! Just but...

  • you made me very happy thank you RIP guys

  • 5 people had really awful childhoods

  • There's nothing better than Morecambe and Wise to cheer you up on a rainy day..

  • Who's the vivacious shimmying lady at the end?

  • As a 17 year old, i wish there was still this sort of comedy knocking around. Those alive in the 60's and 70's were very lucky for televison, football and music!

  • I am feeling just a wee bit warmer and fuzzier today...oh and smiley :-)) big smiley...wonder why??????

  • Lost my Gramps tonight, Morecambe and Wise was our 'thing', they always cheered me up when I was wee, lying on his couch, unwell... <3

  • LOL I love this, and so does my cat, who just fell asleep to it :'D

  • Legends.

  • Okay, no more comments. I love this though xD

  • I LOVE THIS. I CAN'T GET OVER IT.

  • Is it weird that I'm 14 and have always loved this song? I'm glad I was born into this world xD

  • This brings nothing BUT smiles to my face! I remember this show and looked forward with glee to the programme. It was healthy fun with the occasional slight naughty suggestion. I remember at the end after they sang that song, a man with a moustache would appear at the back of the stage (there was a hidden drop). Anyone remember that?

  • Just amazing. What i always get from watching Morecombe & Wise is the real affection they had for each other. They remain (alongside Laurel & Hardy in film) as the greatest of comedy double acts

  • M & C bring me sunshine no matter how many times I watch this clip.

  • This always puts a smile on my face xx

  • I wish TV was still this good, these days its not worth shoving your hand down the inside of the dirty couch to retrieve the remote to flick through 300 channels of pure crap.

  • CLASSIC, Great Piano sound on this version, just think if Eric had been born four miles down the road and it could have been Heysham & Wise, doesnt quite have the same ring to it though does it?

  • Wow. I'm 15 and I'm loving this. They are so funny xD

  • ;| reminds me of Grandad xox he brought eveyone laughter, happiness, joy xox

  • Shame I wasn't alive to watch them on telly

  • How anybody can dislike this I'm at a loss to know, yes MagaDeansy I'm of that generation too and your spot on.

  • Morecambe & Wise were, quite simply, THE BEST . Theirs was the only show that my Grand-parents, Parents & myself (3 generations) all loved to watch together !!

  • love it love it love it funny funny funny i miss em

  • Lol.

  • wish we could go back but we cant. )-:

  • joyous song !

  • lankylad i agree with you they were 1 hell of a comedy duo but u say no duo comes close i can think of a duo that comes close the 2 ronnies its obvious ronnie barker not only did the 2 ronnies but went onto do lodes of other great shows as well i like morecambe and wise a lot but to me it was the 2 ronnies winning all the way i know its kinda hard to compare these acts as they were all class in their own right but still all the comedy acts back then was what our tv was made for

  • absolutetly brilliant !!!

  • superb comedy duo !!

  • Ah, such happiness! Sleep well, Eric & Ern, & thank you.

  • brought up on this. amazing duo. "I'd rather have tea earn!" :)

  • penelope keith at the end?

  • @myloverisbillmurray - nope - Janet Webb

  • The problem with clips like this one is that after watching it you can't switch the telly on and not feel a sense of anticlimax!

No one today comes close to these two.

  • So much love you can give for each brand new bright tomorrow - shown by everyone who's posted. Thanks to you, Eric & Little Ern will live forever more.

  • ...and the god's answered with a wee spell of high pressure for us all! magic! (I've gotta stop writing magic after everything!) magic Doh!

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

  • i miss these two.They were a great team

  • when was this filmed?

  • Not only they don't make them like this any more, they can't make them like this any more. Today's overnight sensations come and go in a blink; Eric and Ernie are immortal. It's amazing how much love I have for what these two have done.

  • There is so much warmth in their performances <3

I love how many younger people who can't remember them first time round have become fans of M&W :)

  • RIP Sunshines

  • True comedy legends. This and positive thinking are just fantastic

  • If you've enjoyed it, then it's all been worthwhile. So, until we meet again, goodnight and I love you all!

    Fantastic!!!

  • im only a teenager and i just find morecambe and wise amazing. they are comedy legends

  • Could do with this on my MP3 player... this and all their songs... they just are everlasting

I wish BBC would show these shows once more...

  • I see the name "Bobby Gentry" in the credits. Is that the singer?

  • @skateboardgumby Yes it's one of the guest singers on that episode.

  • @julka1 Thank you for the. Bobbie Gentry was a great talent.

  • I'd much rather watch M+W in reruns than most of the junk on TV nowadays.

  • Goodbye old friends

  • Lovely stuff. M&W singing this always makes me feel good.

  • my mum wants this song played when she dies

  • I first hear this son in the movies "The Crazies" and I love it!!

  • miss you boys it was all worth it

  • I think they should reshow episodes of Morecambe and Wise every Saturday Night! x

  • do u know what nothing ever will ever come close to these pair ever legends these days x factor etc thats what our life is now its rubbish saturday nite is shite

  • I start every day by watching this clip. It helps me in a good place. Thank you Eric and Ernie!

  • nice to see ernie trying to wind up eric for once

  • Bringing sunshine. That's what they did and bless them both!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ledgend

  • God bless M+W. True legends. When life got really bad, they were the only two that could ever make me smile. RIP Eric n' Ernie.

  • They're immortal and invincible. Whenever you're down, play this and the world will seem so much better.

  • Boy how I miss these two. The lady coming on at the end to milk the applause is Janet Webb. RIP M and W thanks for posting.

  • Thanks M & C for bringing us sunshine through the years. You two were the greatest!

  • Did I see the great Peter Cushing's name roll by in the credits? I'd love to see Peter getting the M&W "treatment." I love these guys, and I'm an American.

  • thumbs up if you are here because of the movie the crazies (end credits)

  • You'll have sciatica in the morning

I won't i'll have shredded wheat like everybody else!

the greatest double act this country has ever seen and nothing since has come remotely close and lets be honest nothing ever will

  • I love these guys. So warm, friendly and genuinely funny. I never heard a bad word or an expletive ever pass their lips. They were from a gentler age of simple comedy when there was more respect for each other; an age now sadly gone. Like others have said, today's comedians are not the same, and the world seems a harder, more cynical place than the M&W era. They were the greatest. Thank goodness for all the recordings they left behind! Rock on, Eric and Ernie.

  • Morecambe and Wise = Genuine Legends sadly missed <3

  • The two ronnies and morecambe and wise were gr8!

  • I love how they used to crack each other up XD

  • Superb team, bringing lots of happy memories!

  • Sunshine still brought by two immortal gods of comedy - still giving love & laughter long after they've gone

  • i'm 20 and i love morecambe and wise, as well as two ronnies. It reminds me of my grandad, watching him laughing in his chair with tears rolling down his face, these guys were comedy genius and no1 will ever come close to doing what they did, may they rest in peace and continue to bring enjoyment to the people of the world

  • Haven't M&W's positions (Wise as the straight man, Morecambe as the joker) been reversed?

  • Best comedy duo ever in comedy history!

R.I.P Eric & Ernie, you really did give us the sunshine!

    You'll both never be forgotten.

  • marvelous

  • Amusing and adorable; thank you for posting :D

  • Absolutely peerless comedy. Only the Two Ronnies could match this

  • I love these guys.

  • im 50 this year what great memories when i was a child at home with my family how i miss those days .

  • the Best double act we have ever produced to be at the top for so long takes alot of hard work

  • I agree with all of your comments here, i grew up watching Eric and Ernie, i really used to look forward to Saturday night on TV. I agree with lankylad69 ,it does bring tears to your eyes, especially when you hear the Bring Me Sunshine song. Life seemed much happier back then. What a miss Eric and Ernie are.

  • make me happy thru the years, never bring me any tears...

    bring me fun

    bring me sunshine

    bring me loveeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • I did a chair dance in a show to this song, it was amazing just listening to the music let alone the dance

  • watching these ,gives a warm happy feeling.i love them wd for posting

  • watching these ,gives a warm happy feeling.i love them wd for posting

  • Ohhhh man, i'm a 40yo man and this brings tears to my eyes lol I'm 8 years old again, in my striped pajamas eating jam and bread and drinking tea and looking forward to my mams home made cheesecake. I would give anything to revisit that Saturday night even for a few minutes! RIP Eric and Ernie TRUE legends and no one will ever even come close.

  • oh, what a beautiful comment, i'm a 54 year old man, and I cry like a baby when i see these guys, such a big part of my life. thanks for your comment, it was great

  • @lankylad69 I so much agree with your comments , those Saturday nights could never be matched by anything today , little did we know what we had then , that was television at its best , and the likes of these two comedians will never be seen again .

  • @lankylad69 it desnt reli matter wot age u r, evry1 should find this stuff funny.

  • @lankylad69 Well said. Heart aches just listening to this. Beautiful, beautiful times and comedy at its sweetest and best. Eric and little Ern. What a gift they were to me,

  • @lankylad69 I'm 54 and have tears in my eyes reading your comment, I also would love to go back to those Saturday nights and the Morcambe and Wise show, mum and dad still here, couch pulled forward, close to fire, me and my sister 12 or 13 or so, and the treat, a glass of cream soda with a dob of ice cream. I am so with you.

  • @BritishCompilations I'm totally with you mate. Everything you said was the same in our household. Settee pulled right up to the fire. And oh man don't even get me started on cream soda and ice cream :) I'm SO there right now, best times ever :)

  • @lankylad69 Yeah, those great Saturdays!: Champion The Wonder Horse, Robinson Crusoe, Grandstand, The World Of Sport, Candid Camera, Dr Who (John Pertwee), The Generation Game, Morecambe & Wise, Match Of The Day (when English football was the best), Parkinson (super legendary guests) and a Peter Cushing - Christopher Lee hammer horror movie to finish off. ABSOLUTE BLISS.

  • @maxiboy666 Remember then all mate. Definitely bliss :)

  • @maxiboy666 and dont forget TISWAS!

  • it was worth it eric and we are still watching mate

  • @lankylad69 Ditto buddy.....Two Ronnies, only fools and horses and these guys, just sheer comic Genius.

Even though being 8 sucked I too would do it for one night, pass the Jam sarnies!

  • @lankylad69 tell me there was a fire

  • @lankylad69 you are spot on brother, Im 45, from Birmingham.......this is saturday teatime aye!! Fills me with a warm glow and like you, almost to tears. Harmless, funny wonderful entertainers....love it!!!!!!!!!

  • @lankylad69 god i know exactly what you mean just to trade a few hours of now to go back to then saturday night with my pikelets as we called them and watch morcambe and wise, black and white minstrel show, the good ole days and seaside special they really were special times for me.

  • @lankylad69 Same here. I'd be eating toast with a cup of tea and then my mum's homemade cake or cheesecake. Wonderful memories.

  • I love at 1:22 where Eric just laughs a little at Ernie's dancing, it shows they really were having a great time as well as making amazing tv. Love them both

  • Despite being 17, I've always had a thing for Eric. So much sex appeal...strangely lol

  • bless em both

  • I miss Eric and Ernie, they were the very best

  • Class!!

  • Bring me fun, Bring me sunshine, Bring me love

  • No matter how much M+W took the micky out of the 'star guests' very few turned down to opportunity to go on the show. M+W and the two Ronnies are still Britain's best double acts. The likes of Ant and Dec are a waste of space in comparison

  • @madabbafan compairing ant and dec to M&W is like compairing the Niagra Falls to a bathroom tap.

  • Their show was one of the highlights of my xmas as a youngster, it will never be the same without them. The best double act this country has ever had.

    RIP Eric & Ernie.

  • @brandywine1960 It's funny, here we are a few days away from christmas, and you are here, I also remember as a kid, Christmas night, with the Morcambe and Wise special, wonderful tmes, sadly my mum and dad are gone, all those days are gone (but never forgotten) I love your comment

  • sheer quality

  • ant and dec what a load of crap.

this is quality programming of the past i remember.

also cos the youngsters are thicker its dumbed down for the dribblers.

  • unbeatable... u dnt get comedy like this these days!!!!! love these guys

  • These times will never come back to us!

  • Watching and listening to these guys makes one feel good all over. Too bad we don't have more entertainers like M & C. God rest their souls.

  • Watching these at Christmas was a magical time, when things in the news wasn't as bad as what is is today! and Christmas felt like Christmas and not commercialised as it is today! and no hundreds of channels to watch, bliss!!!!

  • I couldn't agree more!!!

  • love it beyond words!

  • Different generations of comedy:

The gentle and uplifting comedy of Morecambe and Wise... and the gutter comedy of Little Britain and Russel Brand.

I think the choice is obvious.. don't you?

  • Oh, I totally agree with you 555pointifex. I am only 18 years old but even I think that modern comedy is rubbish compared to classic comedy. Modern comedy lacks the charm, wit and genius of classic comedy.

  • And I completely agree with you. Classic comedy walks all over modern comedy.

  • @555pontifex Americanization destroyed British comedy, the best kind.

  • @SwingStu wrote "Americanization destroyed British comedy, the best kind." Well maybe - but remember that "Bring Me Sunshine" was written by Arthur Kent ans Sylvia Dee. Two American songwriters. It's hard to even think of ol' Eric and Ernie without that bit of Americanization.

  • Wonderful stuff. The phrase 'national treasure' is banded about in the press too often, but M & W were the real deal. Everybody loved them, and with good reason. We ar still missing them today.

  • my whole life, was M&W, tommy cooper, so sad they are gone, but never forgotten

  • With all the repeats we get on Freeview, why can't they give us Morecambe & Wise???

  • ROFL! 1:14- 1:40 is absolutely hilarious! Classic comedy is better than modern comedy by far.

  • True legends, We need more of there re-runs on tv, Cheer up the whole planet. No more doom and Gloom. Peace and Love to all

  • They were and will always be the greatest double act of all time. I am fed up with all the crap that is shown on TV now days.

So called celebrities are being paid ridiculous amounts of money for doing nothing, they have no talent, where as on the other hand look at the amazing talent Eric and Ernie had. At least Eric and Ernie will always be remembered unlike some of these modern day clowns just look at the viewing figures they had that says it all. Rest in peace Eric and Ernie

  • You're so right. Comedy nowadays is mostly cynical and self promoting. I follow modern comedy and enjoy it but acts like Eric and Ernie are like therapy - they leave you feeling joyful and refreshed. That must be a really difficult thing to achieve.

  • Simply Glorious.

  • Love the way Ern actually makes Eric laugh xx

Good on yer, Northern lads xxx
