Yeah, but it's very suprising that this was so as her Blake's 7 episodes (particularly Terminal and Blake) are absolutely superb, and have the same kind of foreboding, misanthropic feel this story has on paper. Given that Davison era Who at its best echoes B7 (to a degree), you'd think she would be the ideal director. Perhaps the behind-the-scenes nightmare of the story's production meant that the most she could do was get it in the can.
Really ironic that of the Fifth Doctor's companions only Turlough gets a happy ending and it's Peri, whom he barely knows, that he sacrifices himself for.
Just started to explore the Not Canon stuff with the Fifth Doctor and I think it really makes up for a lot of his period, especially because some of his best TV stories are going to be the last released
I count the Big Finish audios. Funny enough, there's fanservice with Mel in one of the audios where she sleeps naked then has a shower...talk about one-upping Nyssa here.
Thanks a lot for putting this on, it was an inspired idea! Terminus, more than any other Who story, does leave you with a sense of being a missed opportunity. In its themes, setting and dark flavour, it should be somewhere between Warriors' Gate, Earthshock and The Caves of Androzani, with a good dose of HR Giger and Norse mythology to boot. Alas, what we get of this on screen is rather lost amid the corridor jogging. Your edit has reminded me of the good parts of the story though. Thanks again!
The purpose of this video was to cut the whole story of Terminus (4 episodes) down to 10 minutes. So, I do have that clip (as well as the entirety of the episodes) but it wasn't really part of the main plot, so it was part of the (around) 50 minutes I cut out.
I have all the Doctor Who episodes (that aren't lost) because I recorded the episodes when they were on PBS, and those I didn't record, my aunt did. With the new series, we buy the DVDs.
Nice thought, but I find that a lot of the atmosphere of the episode is gone when shortened... ;)

Love the concept...any other ten-minute abridged versions up your sleeve?
brecherdc 8 months ago
You should do the same with The Web Planet. that could easily be compressed.

aww you left out the bit where nyssa drops her skirt lol

Hmm... am I the ONLY one thinking that TBG wasn't really going to get Turlough home?

Nicely edited. Thanks for that.
I was looking for the whole thing here on YT, couldn't find it.
This is the next best thing.
Cool.

I think that the main fault of Terminus was the director Mary Ridge, she was unprepared for who IMO.

I thought when people accessed the heart of the TARDIS they went all 'Bad Wolf', and then, you know, died.

That, or turn into an egg.
Turlough never did rip it free, just loosen it. I wonder what would have happened to him had he somehow succeeded?
WooperSlim 2 years ago
If he had succeeded, the Doctor would have to kiss him (like in Parting of The Ways) and the fan fiction would have reached an epic level.

Yours, dear friend, is the most EPIC answer to a comentary in Youtube ever!!! XD And also, so true!

I think it's because the Doctor hates goodbyes.

well he does travel for quite a while with Peri , and Erimem of course... Waits for inevitable Not Canon backlash

Thanks for posting.
I forgot how ear bleedingly awful the music was, but I remember how bad the plot was. Even the Garm speaks to camera. Awful.

how come you don't have a clip of the doctor being attacked (which occurred at the end of the second episode). I saw a photo of it.

where did you get terminus?
harrietamidala1691 3 years ago
An airlock of a space ship wouldn't be stoped by a plastic chair.
FelixDembinski 3 years ago
True. Then again, that's not an air lock.
But you are still right, since that door is probably not closing due to the force of a couple springs.
WooperSlim 3 years ago
Oh what a world, where one can stop a door from closing, just by throwing a chair at it...
toclafance 3 years ago
A little choppy, of course, but you have really highlighted all that was good about Terminus. Well done! :)
