  • That was good man. I've been trying to achieve this look for so long. It's not easy. My frame rate drops when I upload it to youtube? Could you help me? What render settings do you use? Or what codec?

  • I just watched some test footage shot on the incredibly expensive Canon XF305, and it looks rubbish compared to this! I think I'll save myself some money and get a 7D when I can afford it. The sort of camera I dreamed about having as a kid... Beautifully shot, thanks for sharing your work.

  • fucking nice camera!

  • how much money was the camera you shot this video ?

  • This is beautiful, most sequences in the movie 127 hours was shot with this camera.

  • @ESmolodezh1 adobe premiere pro is a brilliant video software. you can also edit colors, contrasts etc with photoshop cs3 & cs4 (extended) and cs5

  • @ESmolodezh1

Use another editing software than sony vegas. I really like premiere pro CS5.

  • why do you shoot in 24fps and not in 25fps ? 720p also offers 50fps, what's the clue behind it? thanks a lot :)

  • BREATH TAKING! I WANT IT!

  • I've seen better...

  • what compression setting type do u use?

  • Awesome. I'm really considering getting a 7D for video once I have the dough. Damn these DSLRs are taking some slick video for the price.

  • just wondering what software do you use, and what type is the file raw ?

  • @slaanesh11 how much does the Cannon 7D cost?

  • @PaigeSimpsonTV around $1800 canadian for the body..the lens range in price depending on what you are looking for.

  • @CarpeDiemSeries Because Smoking looks cool on camera. Duh.

  • Hi there, I'm very new to DSLR filmming. I haven't bought one yet. I would like to know, when you buy a Canon EOS 7D DSLR, can you start shooting videos like that right away? Or did you buy another lens to go with it? I'm a total noob. Thank you!

  • @darthsamurai You don't need special lenses, you can start filming with the standard lens, but the Canon 50mm is very good for filming. If you only want to film with the DSLR, then take a look at the Canon t2i (550D)

  • @JWD96 thank you for the information!! :)

  • @darthsamurai well for ur question, yes u can just start doing video. Theres a simple switch that enables u to go to movie mode. Before you go out and buy 1, please for ur wallets sake, DO UR RESEARCH. Google it. Google everything, theres always some else asking the same shit.

  • why is there always some guy smoking in these videos? seriously, almost every 7d video has some guy smoking in it

  • @CarpeDiemSeries ... art house mate, art house

  • @AlexAirDubai

Deine Lakaien - Love me to the end

  • @slaanesh11

i want to make video - is it better to make 25 pfs or 24 pfs ???????

  • @AlexAirDubai Depends on wat ur planning to shoot. 24 fps is the standard to getting that movie look. to do slow-mo you shoot in 60fps and turn it down to 24fps.

  • I WANT TO ASK!!!!

IF I HAVE 32GB CARD AND WANT TO RECORD WITH 1080 - HOW MUCH TIME I CAN RECORD TO FULL 32GB?????????? ......And 1080 60p IS BETTER THEN 1080 30p ????

  • @AlexAirDubai wow. Read your manual that came with the camera on record file-sizes. And for most video 1080p at 30fps is great. 1080p. at 60fps will look much smoother played back at 60fps.

  • how does that particular lense do in low light, indoor, etc? Looks great outdoors.

  • Really nice!!!

  • Do you need any adapter or lense to get the DOF or does the camera do it by itself

  • @MehrHeyd

You don't need any adapter :)

  • It looks marvelous. I think we need more "test" videos with soft music with people looking dazed, lonely and confused about life. I need to make sure the shallow depth of field really works,

  • We need more testing people! Please god test the camera just one more time! No I changed my mind we need more testing. What we need are scripts. I haven't bought one yet but when I do I will fight everything in my soul not to post another test video. Damn, I am already thinking of a lonely bike wheel spinning while in the blurry background I wonder around my backyard crying violently while trying to play hacky sack while wearing a wool cap.

  • good stuff- but it is true that you can only shoot up to 12 minutes of vid at a time?

  • @ellogoods If you have a large card you can shoot longer than a smaller card. Also what quality you shoot on will affect the time you can record. If you shoot 720p you can shoot almost twice as long. If you shoot less, even longer. ect.

  • Nice footage. I just got the 7D and did a slowmo test. Check it out if you have a minute. Looks amazing!

  • whats better for video qaulity this or a canon HD hfs100 or the newer upcoming native 24p hfs21

  • in lay man terms, can anybody tell me the main differences between the 18 - 135 mm lens and the 15 - 85 mm lens, I know the latter cost a fair bit more, but I want to why. Sorry for my uneducated ignorance, it's just I haven't got a clue and I'm trying to build up knowledge before I consider buying.

  • The 18 135 lens is just going to give you further distance and larger focal distance. The 15-85 is for closer shots and smaller focal distance. Small focal distance gives you the effect like in 24 seconds where you only have a small area in focus. I could go on...

  • I would go with the 15-85, only because the full time manual mode, and the focus window. The 15-85 also has an ultrasonic motor, which allows faster and almost silent focusing. The 15-85mm is also new, which sort of explains the price.

  • how long maximum record for this camera?

  • Depends on the Card you're using (4GB, 8GB, 16GB). Furthermore it's 3,99 GB per file (NTFS).

  • thx

    it can fit 32gb??

    if can how long actually?

i think i wana get this camera if can record continously more than 2hours

    =)

  • who actually sits down and watches a home movie for 2 hours straight? unless you're doing proper presentation videos and if that's the case, you will edit and not depend on a 2hour long continuous recorded video, don't make excuses! just get it. you've seen all the glowing reviews! :)

  • bcoz im plan to getting this two camera panasonic gh1 or canon eos 7d

still reasearch on this two camera

    gh1 can record 30mins continuously

i wana use camera for small event

  • @wakakaforever Um, i can film around i think 23 minutes on a 8 gig, and if i do some simple math that comes out to around 96 minutes per 32 gb.

  • @wakakaforever Oh i didn't read continously, im not sure. i think someone said around 8-10 minutes? maybe more im not sure.

  • Of course FAT32 , not NTFS ;)

  • I dont understand when people say its 4GB per file, does that mean i can only record 4GB before i have to upload to my computer? Than what would be the point of buying a 16GB card? Should i just buy a 4GB and save money?

  • I think its about 12:30 mins. Its not much more then that...but its a simple stop and start record and your good to go. I just got a 32gb CF card and recording at 720p 60fps I get like 60 mins of record time.

  • so when your card is full you simply upload to computer and then delete and record again?

  • @rubent100 Thats all I do. Its good to back it up as you go if you have time. I also plan on getting more CF cards...so I never have to record over media on a shoot.

  • I see, so you keep a laptop with you at all times when you shoot to upload?

  • @rubent100 Yeah, if its a high profile shoot. If I'm just messen around, I don't bother. I like to look at my footage on my computer anyway after I shoot it. I can show clients or actors what the shots look like, and maybe even throught it on a time line to see how things cut together.

  • wtf are you talking about? People died for 24p. all the 5D MkII owners were dieing because it only had 30p. you have to pay thousands just to get it, and this camera offers the best affordable 24p for now. They want to make their own videos look Hollywood

  • i am also died for 24p.....

that why i dont understand why people prefer 30fps...

  • yea, why use 30 when you have 60? I wish i had this camera......though I won't be holding one until a long time. Unfortunately not by the holidays

  • yea me to.....

  • well i think that was all i needed to see, i'm thinking of getting it!

  • Yeah, it's really worth it's money, i just love it :-)

  • Nice footage, nice shallow depth of field.

Were you using IS and if so, did it make any difference?

  • Thanks.

What do you mean by IS?

  • I think he means Image Stabilization, anti shake.

    Great footage, I didn't know 7D can do 24p

  • Ah, Image Stabilizer, of course (I'm used to the german term, so I didn't get the abbreviation).

    Thanks, debroyfilms :)

Yes, I was using IS, and of yourse it's very helpful.

  • I have also heard that the IS on the lenses can make the rolling shutter effect more obvious...which is the biggest downfall to these cameras as it is.

  • 24p 25p, 30p, 50p, 60p. It can do it all :)
