  • @92badblood Yeah, I heard that vocal melody in the hook of "Gin & Juice," and then the first line in "Let's Get Blown".

  • @02Stratus yeah i just realized the connection the other night as I was sippin on some gin & juice myself and naturally, humming the Snoop and Dre tune ... and I said "wait a second! They took that from Slave and they just changed the melody a little"

"Doggie Dogg World" stole a line from "If it Ain't One Thing It's Another." I used to think that was the funniest song.

  • This is a great song!! Summer time especially!! All the girls in shorts the guys use to sing this!! LOL Great times!!! Great song!!

  • I think this was the best music era...

  • I remember when i was about 12 & I saw a group of teenage girls flip da fuck out when this song came on while we were at school. i think someone had a radio n da halls & from dat moment on this song was embedded in my conscience. Nowadays while enjoying it, da Funk flows so sweet n da lyrics make me feel like a youth again.

  • They used this song on an episode of

"Everybody Hates Chris" it was so smooth how they just threw it in there.

  • @breakin88

  • @MsNoodles10 .....i came to the conclusion that you can be mad as hell and then you hear that old school funk bounce beat...you then start tap'n your toes and wiggle'n your ass to the beat.....then you no longer remember what you were mad about!!!

  • @picazzo247 I using the Directv "Old School Funk" as therapy....This last week has been so much "lighter" all the way around...My new fav is Early In The Morning by The Gap Band...

  • @sp4rt4chic and with a positive out look it'll even get lighter....

  • @picazzo247 may i suggest some Patrice Rushen "feels so real"...and some Mtume "sugarfree"......for your therapy??...

  • the watcher??

  • Gee, I wonder if Steve influenced Keith Sweat? ;-p

  • Dre and snoop ripped this chorus

  • @GunGemini They suuure did! Snoop especially because he loooves funk, soul and old school!

  • @GunGemini rolling down the street smokin endo?

  • @GunGemini True and the sad part of it is, when radio stations play flashbacks of the 2000 era ('00), what will they play? Tracks with samples of older eras...The age of the songwriter needs to come back...

  • @dkofva excellent point, if any current song of the present sounds good, that song features a sample....sampling is cheating to me, when I was a teenager back in the late 80's..I felt the same way even then

  • steve arrinngton,is he from detriot?

  • Saw them at The Carousel Plymouth Grove Manchester early 1980's ..... Hello Manchester !

  • 29 years old an i love this song!!!!!

  • YASE! I see you looking...I watching you too;-)

  • Amazing to know that Steve Arrington was not just the lead vocalist but he was the one laying down the drums for Slave!! I remember the first time I heard this song on the radio...I was in the 2nd grade and when I heard I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with it. I thought it was the prettiest and grooviest song ever for a long time!

  • Rest in peace, Mark Adams, one of the greatest bassists of all time.

  • Thank you for posting this, Love me some Slave and Steve Arrington, that voice and the way he moans. heat personified, did you young ones hear his rap, same objective but not degrading his lady. Listen and learn,

  • Man the world has the pyramids, the great wall, the inca's civilization,ect.. but we have classic funk that will never die. man what happened too classic music like this? we traded all this in for bitches,ho's money, cars, drank, bling, guns, disrespect, ect. this is the type of music that reminds us of the clubs, parties, family get togethers, the parks,bbq's,ect..but no,the industry sold us out for the commercialization of pure unadulterated, untreated, unfiltered garbage.give me back the 70's-90's NOW!

  • EPMD-Never Seen Before (Remix)

  • @mooches26 I'm 39 years old and when I witness the golden era of music, I feel like I'm 18 years old, nothing has changed......it's sad how bad things have become, our standards of excellence has been compromised for commercial exploit...but there's always hope, for if those who came before us created at this level, so can the future generations....we just have to not settle and move beyond the crap

  • watching you

  • 3:23-3:26..........pricelesss....haaaaaaaaahhhh

  • Reading some of the post's from younger viewers gives me hope that music like this will hopefully be written again. I'm not hating on Rap or Hip Hop. Listen up young ones, this is the music that gets us girls in the mood.

  • They do not make them like this anymore. So sad, bring back the real singers.........

  • I bust my ass a thousand times trying to skate to this, but I got it on the bass!

  • BRING THIS KIND OF MUSIC BACK !!!

  • @showtime516 Unfortunately this type of music will never come back because the youngsters these days just don't appreciate it or understand what good music is. And we all know that today's radio is youth driven and all their crap gets most of the airplay. These days the guys don't care about women and the women don't respect themselves and act like ho's. That's why it's so much crap and profanity on today's music because of the lack of respect.

  • oh yes I am........pay'n attn........

  • Mark can now play bass in James Brown's heavenly band. With Ron Banks on background vocals. :)

  • Slave was the bomb

  • We're loosing all of our best. Thanks to all who posted about the passing of Mark Adams. I didn't know about this until I came on this page to listen to some seriously good back in the day jams. Adams is one of the reasons Slave is the best bands from back in the day R&B/Funk. That bass is naaasty! That's part of the reason I always liked this song.

Mark, go play bass for our Creator. We'll hold on to your legacy with songs like Watching You until we see you again. Keep playing playa!

  • To the family, friends, and fans of brotha Mark Adams, Let us not weep in sorrow, but rather let us rejoice in victory, let us not hang our heads in sadness, but let us lift our voices with praise unto Almighty God. For God has loaned brotha Mark to us, and God has now received him, unto Himself. The way that Mark played that bass, only God could have given him that kinda talent.

Rest In Peace Brotha Mark Adams.

  • @pepdogg513 I'm smiling cuz'It's nothing but good times nothing .

  • R.I.P. Bassist, Mark Adams.

  • RIP(QEPD) Mark Adams, that funky bassist from the group Slave . . .

  • Just read that Mark Adams (Slaves' bass player) has passed away. Can hardly believe it! RIP Mark. :-(

  • Band names are mean to get attention and set themselves apart from others not to make a statement. Hence Niggahs with an attitude(NWA) they're black too.

  • Great song, but still fumbles me why they call theirself Slave? And they are black...

Nothing racist was ment in this comment, more the oppsite road.

  • @norXmal Their idea was "we are all slaves of god" hence the name "Slave".

  • CALI BOYS. NLR, AB, AV, SWP, SS, MM, MS, U can Groove 2 this 2. Nuff Said..

  • Great Song LRyder. Always Ready 2 Groove..

Rollin' down the street, smoking indo, sippin' on gin and juice.

  • @Ntothe :FUCK THAT VERSION!!

  • @rtp1968

hhahahahaha why so angry :D just sayin'

  • This is real music. Funk all day and nothing but the funk. Slave gets the party started. Singing good about the real ladies. Slave was untouchable then and now. The baseline is second to none.

  • If I could just go back in time everything would be ok...

  • @christine1968 i so agree
