  • It's amazing that this track did not make it onto any of his albums back in the day!!! It is one of his finest moments from this period.

  • Oh this is just soooooo cool! Thanks Ike.

  • I remember this coming out in 1973 myself. reason being I was on the 3rd Ave El in the Bx, and this one brother danced his way off his stop off this song and I was ten and that was the same year it went down

  • Public Enemy - Don't Believe The Hype

  • Chubb Rock - Caught Up (Remix)

  • i play this song on friday night's when i go out to the club

  • dzaaan teslia

  • This guy was GREAT and unique. He took funk in his shoulders and made it a great genra.

  • I'm a big James Brown & Friends fan(have been for years)..I've always wanted to know what album featured parts 15&16 of this track? If you look at his discography, you will see that he recorded a few parts of this song, but I could only find the version that you have here and the one released on the "Make It Funky: Big Payback 1971-1975," album.

  • @Jamaicanbaan31

There are no actual parts 15 &16 of this track. That was just something of a "gimmick". This is all there is to the tune!

  • @IkeDyson71 - Dang! I was anticipating what constituted Parts 2 through 14. ;)

  • they have this song in a song called superfly meets shaft

  • no biggie, this songs just holds a lot of memories for me

  • @jody808

Me too - and remember, this channel has ONLY James Brown stuff - so take a look around the vids on my channel page, bro!

  • this wasn't released in 1971, it was 1973

i remember when i older brother brought this single home

    it was baddd!!

  • @jody808

This single was released in 1972 in some countries, and released in 1973 in others. So, for this track, I decided to list the year it was RECORDED. I have people telling me it was released in '72, and others saying, no, it was '73, so I put the recording date, okay? Does that explain it to you?

  • whoever disliked this NEEDS some ants in they pants...

  • I'm a Big Fine Loving Son of A Gun!

  • i like justin beiber too

  • The G.O.A.T. Greatest of All Time.

If there was a Mount Rushmore of American music, James would be on it.

  • One of those JB's which should have been about 3:00 long - too much craziness on "Part 2." It *is* a great beat, though.

  • "Don't believe the hype"

  • Chubb rock!

  • Definite Definition!!!!

  • Vintage JB! This was our music! Takes me back to when life was good. Thank you for posting!

  • @LadyDBrooklyn

  • What song was on side B in that 45 rpm please?

  • @angie1022

Didn't notice your question until now. Sorry.

The B-side was labelled "I Got Ants In My Pants Parts 15 & 16". But it was really just Parts 3 & 4.

I used to have that Polydor 45.

  • @IkeDyson71 You did pretty good IkeDyson71!

  • @sandralawson18

I did good? What did I do good...?

    .

  • @IkeDyson71 lol

  • Fucking love this song. Anyone who can't dance just needs to listen to funk, nothings easier to move to and enjoy the beat

  • man this song is THE SHIT, UNH!

  • Chubb Rock sampled this.....

  • @russianspiesx u really know whut hip hop is ma man much love

  • holy chit mang, i heard this song in the 40 year old virgin when he was running form the thought of sex when his buddies he worked with said they were going to get him layed... haaaa it was one of the best scenes. this song is so funky, i'm just over here swayin and jivin' man. i need to listen to more james brown, most definitely

  • I got ants in my pants and I need to dance!

  • Why don't to load up another mix with your new system and leave this one up also so we can compare?

  • I see you brought the drum out front here. Many of Mr. Brown's songs seemed to hide the drum for some reason. I like it when the drum is loud and clear.

  • @PaulDA2000

Actually, I'm not really happy with this mix. I did this one on my old system, before I got the new-fangled one with the superior graphic equalizer. But when I saw it had gotten to 900 views I decided to leave it up as it is!

  • @IkeDyson71 I love this song.

  • @PaulDA2000 most of those tracks were recorded in mono......

  • Another thing I like about this is it has TWO bridges! Their is the first part, then he goes to the first (main) bridge, then he goes into that third bridge ("I love you, etc").

  • thanks for the great song....

  • Great minimal funk track! On paper it probably sucks but somehow it works unbelievably well. The only problem I have is with his overbearing screaming in pat 2. Sometimes the screams work when they are strategically placed, like in the live in studio super funky version of "Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose" from 1970, but here it's just screaming for screaming's sake it seems to me.

  • @PaulDA2000 This is the one James Brown cut where he uses every one of the vocal signatures in his repertoire. This to me is one song where he lets it all go vocally on a track that is musically minimal. But I think that it works real well. Then again, there isn't much that James Brown produced that puts me off.

  • Making a new play list for this one titled INFECTIOUS Funk.. **Gets Downnnn**

  • @RedRobot2point0

That's right. It's a hunk of FUNK. And you got it free of charge!

  • @IkeDyson71 Thank You and Thanks to the Godfather!! =]

  • This is cool. Do you have the full version of Say It Loud I'm Black an?d I'm Proud

  • @Chikaboo32

Yes. I have it on the "Foundations Of Funk" cd set.

  • @Chikaboo32

Okay, I have posted it today...

  • That's better!

  • I think this was from 1972 but who am I to quibble. Ha!

  • @PaulDA2000

Okay, recorded in 1971, released in the USA 1972, and released in the UK 1973.

  • FUNNY I GOT ANTS IN MY PANTS I NEED TO DANCE NICE.....
