I remember this coming out in 1973 myself. reason being I was on the 3rd Ave El in the Bx, and this one brother danced his way off his stop off this song and I was ten and that was the same year it went down
I'm a big James Brown & Friends fan(have been for years)..I've always wanted to know what album featured parts 15&16 of this track? If you look at his discography, you will see that he recorded a few parts of this song, but I could only find the version that you have here and the one released on the "Make It Funky: Big Payback 1971-1975," album.
This single was released in 1972 in some countries, and released in 1973 in others. So, for this track, I decided to list the year it was RECORDED. I have people telling me it was released in '72, and others saying, no, it was '73, so I put the recording date, okay? Does that explain it to you?
If you think this is good go and hear Get up offa that thang,an trust me yo'ull be moving without even noticing ,epsecially if you've never heard it before.

holy chit mang, i heard this song in the 40 year old virgin when he was running form the thought of sex when his buddies he worked with said they were going to get him layed... haaaa it was one of the best scenes. this song is so funky, i'm just over here swayin and jivin' man. i need to listen to more james brown, most definitely
I see you brought the drum out front here. Many of Mr. Brown's songs seemed to hide the drum for some reason. I like it when the drum is loud and clear.
Actually, I'm not really happy with this mix. I did this one on my old system, before I got the new-fangled one with the superior graphic equalizer. But when I saw it had gotten to 900 views I decided to leave it up as it is!
Another thing I like about this is it has TWO bridges! Their is the first part, then he goes to the first (main) bridge, then he goes into that third bridge ("I love you, etc").
Great minimal funk track! On paper it probably sucks but somehow it works unbelievably well. The only problem I have is with his overbearing screaming in pat 2. Sometimes the screams work when they are strategically placed, like in the live in studio super funky version of "Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose" from 1970, but here it's just screaming for screaming's sake it seems to me.
@PaulDA2000 This is the one James Brown cut where he uses every one of the vocal signatures in his repertoire. This to me is one song where he lets it all go vocally on a track that is musically minimal. But I think that it works real well. Then again, there isn't much that James Brown produced that puts me off.
can you dance? ok than do it suckers. it's funky enough. MK 1.

It's amazing that this track did not make it onto any of his albums back in the day!!! It is one of his finest moments from this period.

There are no actual parts 15 &16 of this track. That was just something of a "gimmick". This is all there is to the tune!

One of those JB's which should have been about 3:00 long - too much craziness on "Part 2." It *is* a great beat, though.

What song was on side B in that 45 rpm please?
angie1022 10 months ago
@angie1022
Didn't notice your question until now. Sorry.
The B-side was labelled "I Got Ants In My Pants Parts 15 & 16". But it was really just Parts 3 & 4.
I used to have that Polydor 45.
