When your racing at over 100mph offroad, you dont really notice trucks coming up behind you, especially since most of the trucks either dont have rear windows or their rear view is obscured by spare tires and parts. He was just bumping to let him know he was there.
@walspeed they have a device inside of their vehicle called a sentinal, which weeds out that weak ass excuse by alerting the driver when a vehicle is right on his or her tail, and he was probably doing a measly 70 or 80 that hummer will do 125- 130 and thats exactly what robby was wanting to do, because the faster you go the more time you gain.
Bumping an ongoing car in off road racing is like nocking on a door, before you enter. First, you blow the horn. When it doesn't move out the way, you bump. Besides I know the guy he bumped, and they have no problems with that. Gordon helped him a lot in the service area too.

@Znitso I don't know how much off road racing you've done, so let me share some knowledge. but driving off the road is always slower than on the road, plus there are larger rocks, bushes etc. He probably didn't have enough speed to pass off the road, but he was obviously faster on the road. This isn't F1, so he did the accepted thing in offroad racing and nerfed him.

Robby Gordon's rig is a trophy truck basically. They just wanted to make it LOOK like an H3. Trophy/Pro trucks are mainly an american thing, and the Dakar isn't a race that a large amount of Americans race in. Basically, the buggy style is usually smaller/lighter more agile, while a trophy truck is bigger, more powerful, clunky/clanky. Main reason right there I think.
while the gordon H3 is 'basically' a trophy truck(basically, ground up tube chassis, just like every other TT, pro truck, top class dakar rig, etc.), the rules for the SCORE baja races and the ASO paris-dakar rally are quite a bit different(meaning, robby can't run his baja 1000 TT in dakar). one of the biggest differences is wheel travel. it's unlimited in SCORE baja, but ASO limits it quite a bit for dakar, which is a shame IMO.
wish the ASO would start up an unlimited-style class.
ASO stands for 'Amaury Sport Organization', which is the organization that runs the dakar rally, tour de france, and other major european events. just like FIA heads up formula 1, and SCORE heads up the baja 500 and baja 1000, the ASO is the head of the dakar rally.
I don't like Robby Gordon either. But bumping is part of offroad racing... His NASCAR experience aside, he IS a notable racer in SCORE. Bumping the truck ahead on a thin trail is consider kosher for passing. Has nothing to to with gentlemans rules.
Yeah, it's hard to catch SCORE events on TV unless you have one of those cable packages w/ the million racing channels. You can usually find some good coverage via the internet, usually not live though...
Baja 1000, CORR rules, Got Dirt¿¿ I dont think so, If you are slow you better get out of the road, driving a car at 120mph over bumps its harder than being 200mph over street, all those serials you watch are nothing than money to get on first place.

@Znitso I don't know how much off road racing you've done, so let me share some knowledge. but driving off the road is always slower than on the road, plus there are larger rocks, bushes etc. He probably didn't have enough speed to pass off the road, but he was obviously faster on the road. This isn't F1, so he did the accepted thing in offroad racing and nerfed him.

Because he is accostumed to race in Baja (and NASCAR too). There, to pass somebody, the most usual tactic is to bump the driver who is in front of you, because that means that you are so much faster, you are chasing for the win, so you have like a "preference" to pass.

Robby Gordon's rig is a trophy truck basically. They just wanted to make it LOOK like an H3. Trophy/Pro trucks are mainly an american thing, and the Dakar isn't a race that a large amount of Americans race in. Basically, the buggy style is usually smaller/lighter more agile, while a trophy truck is bigger, more powerful, clunky/clanky. Main reason right there I think.

while the gordon H3 is 'basically' a trophy truck(basically, ground up tube chassis, just like every other TT, pro truck, top class dakar rig, etc.), the rules for the SCORE baja races and the ASO paris-dakar rally are quite a bit different(meaning, robby can't run his baja 1000 TT in dakar). one of the biggest differences is wheel travel. it's unlimited in SCORE baja, but ASO limits it quite a bit for dakar, which is a shame IMO.
wish the ASO would start up an unlimited-style class.

ASO stands for 'Amaury Sport Organization', which is the organization that runs the dakar rally, tour de france, and other major european events. just like FIA heads up formula 1, and SCORE heads up the baja 500 and baja 1000, the ASO is the head of the dakar rally.

I don't like Robby Gordon either. But bumping is part of offroad racing... His NASCAR experience aside, he IS a notable racer in SCORE. Bumping the truck ahead on a thin trail is consider kosher for passing. Has nothing to to with gentlemans rules.

Yeah, it's hard to catch SCORE events on TV unless you have one of those cable packages w/ the million racing channels. You can usually find some good coverage via the internet, usually not live though...

why not compare the H1 to the range rover, or the jeep rubicon to the range rover. the unimogs are awesome offroad but suck on the pavement. as for the vette to the M3-please the ZR1 holds the nurburgring record just behind the viper-hell the cadillac outran all the bimmers. the ssc vs the veyron-kills it everywhere, handling, top speed. finally where else do you find 8000+hp automotive engines-you teasipping douchebags sure as hell cant do it.

the radical is an overgrown go-cart a one seater that isnt street legal in most countries. the porshe was a race car as well and certainly not a production car. the gumpert is the only production street car faster than the ZR1 vette and ACR viper around the nurburgring. our sports cars rival or beat your supercars at the ring. no-one has ever ran a saleen S7 or SSC ultimate aero there. in closing i was referring to road legal production cars not purpose built race cars.
