You can't say enough about a bow with 80% letoff. I got spoiled when my old PSE was 55% my newer bow is 65% and a much easier thing to hold on long shots. For hunting I still use an old Bear recurve at 70#, I just shoot a lot faster. There is something about traditional bowhunting that just relaxes me and eases my troubled mind. I sometimes just take a camera and always see more wildlife than I ever do when hunting with a bow or black powder rifle. It seems they know when they are safe!!!
@bowhunterHPB8 is it just a standard take down bow with wooden risers? I would look at the Cartel X-pert magnetic flipper rest. It runs less than 20 bucks and that prolly would be the best choice. If you have a nice hoyt with aluminum riser, get a whisker biscuit.
There is nothing wrong with the old bow, made from the yew tree and well oiled. It is still used in competition. Archery has moved on and advanced. The compound bow is an evolution of bows from many hundreds of years. You can't expect anything to stand still, including archery.
I have been an archer for over 20 years and have seen technology make leaps and bounds over the years.
This match was impressive and I am in awe at how well the female archer from Denmark was shooting when her left arm was twitching at full draw. Even with the shakes, she was hitting the 10 ring.
