We as christian must descern the gifts. Try the spirit by the spirit. He said that they tried those who said they were apostles and are not and has found them liars. That means that they found these people to be false. that does not mean that they are no apostles in the church today. I'll just end with this. God is the same yesterday, today and forever!!

I guess Alan Cairns has some explaining to do. Ephesians 4:11- and He gave some, apostles; and some prophets, and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; v12: for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

Perhaps Dr Cairn meant that there are no more Apostles to the Jews as Paul, Barnabas, Apollos, etc... were Apostles to the Gentiles. That may be a possibility. However, considering the fact that we are not able to know God's mind and to whom He bestows His authority unless He reveals it to us, we must not be so arrogant as to believe that men(people) like this are nowhere in the world because we have not seen it. He too saw himself as an equal going so far as to correct Simon Peter when he felt it necessary. Paul also considered Timothy and Barnabas equals in the church and to Timothy he passed on his mantle. A passing of a mantle is not a small thing in the least and is held as law in the Old Testament (i.e. Elijah to Elisha). What then of Matthais who took the place of Judas Iscariot? He was given full right to Judas' share. With all of this in mind it seems possible that there may be Apostles today.

I understand what Dr Cairns is trying to say but his understanding is flawed. Dr Cairns states that an apostle has to be one who was there at the resurrection and others that were given this authority were apostles but in a broader sense (meaning not as good i.e. Barnabas). What then of the Apostle Paul? He was not at all present at that time for at that time he was killing Christians. He does consider himself lesser because He wasn't there but Peter (Cephas/Simon) considered Him an equal.

Dr. Cairn is not taking apostolic authority to himself. But he can tell you exactly who is acting in defiance of scripture? What's the difference between saying, "I am an apostle, I therefore speak Truth," and saying, "I interpret all scripture correctly, and scripture is the Truth". It's just two different avenues to the same, pompous, self-aggrandizing end.

This is getting pathetic. Apostle means "sent ones". Epesians 4 says we need the 5 fold ministry gifts for the maturing of the saints. When we are fully mature I guess we will not need the apostle office. The bible does indeed declair we will always have the apostle office. If it is not for us today then maybe there are no teachers, or pastors or evangelist. Where do you get the authority to pick one and not the other???

My Lord another uneducated study by the Dr. Alan Cairns, its not so easy to explain Apostolic Authority, many stumble on this subject. there is a clear distinction between the Authority of the apostolic ministry of the new testament and the restored apostolic ministry of today. the difference between the office of the apostle and the ministry of an apostle is extremely significant, no one serves in the office of an apostle today, but they serve in the anointing and ministry of apostles today.

Ephesians lays out the model of the "giftings" of which their are five, and says they are for the perfection of the saints. No where in scripture does it say that this model should or did pas away.

After Christ named the 12, and Matthias replaced Judas, the Lord chose Paul to be an apostle. So was Barnabas, most likely Timothy; Apollos apparently called an apostle. The Ephesian 4 apostles were given their gift AFTER the ascension. Apostleship isn't 'passed on' by other apostles (except Mattias perhaps, but even in that case); it is given by God.

That's correct the word Trinity is NOT in the bible, HOWEVER the word GODHEAD is. (KJV) Acts 17;29 / Romans 1;20 / and Col 2;9 this term (in the "greek") is the equivilent to the term TRINITY. The new testament was originally written in Greek before translation to english. Use a Hebrew (old testiment) & Greek (new testiment) Lexicon. Are you saying Paul had authority unto himself? All Paul's authority came from Christ. All authority comes from Christ. When Christ commissions someone with a task, they are given the authority to perform it.

Hello, seems to me you are in the new-apostolic church.. i have been for years, too.. but if you would read your bible you would see that these self-appointed apostles preach a corrupted gospel. They say through OUR word your sins are forgiven.. through OUR hands you get the Holy Spirit..

In the previous video he makes the point very clearly that there are gifts of healing but no "gift of healing" today. If you're going to say that someone is lying, at least have the decency to know what they believe and represent it accurately. If "powerful Christianity" is misrepresenting others to convince others of our position, then I don't mind if you consider us weak.

What if God decided that the miracles allowed to the Apostles was appropriate for the birth of the church, but not so much when it came to the idea of, by grace through faith? I mean, wouldn't it be alot easier to convert people if we could raise their relatives from the dead?

It could be that God has good reason to not allow healings, tongues, etc...

Your right that it seems that it would be alot easier for US to convert people if we could raise people from the dead,- thats if YOU had anything to do with it - but unfortunately you see that the Bible clearly teaches that salvation is work of GOD from beginning to end (Eph 2:8) - your job then is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sins. It is THE GOSPEL PREACHED that contains the power to convert mens souls - it is very simple

This brother puts his finger on exactly why these people call themselves apostles: in order to steal a level of authority they would not have if they were merely elders, deacons, preachers, etc. They arrogate it because they want to have a say over other Christians which is more than Christ has kept for them. And again this brother rightly says that before the finalisation of scripture the Churches needed these men among them, but since the finalisation of scripture we do not.
