What I really liked about the movie was the character Hancock himself, he's like a superhero that doesn't know how to be a superhero and is at the point of giving up on everyone.
The second half I agree was kind of dull but somewhat an interesting twist. I will agree that the villain could of been better but the actor who played him was ace.

Eh, to be completely honest, I have no clue what the crap happened once they started bringing that white girl into it. After that, I got completely lost and I'm still not sure to this day what it was supposed to mean.
I saw it and i think what happened was, Hancock and that girl were together. I guess they were "soul mates." in their world, two superheroes get together and mate, but they lose their powers in order to be able to grow old and be together without living forever. basically living a normal life without powers because whenever the two get close, they lose their powers. so when the two of them were injured and they were close, their resistance was weak. so he left her.
Hancock and the girl were the last of their kind and also have been around for 3000 years. hancock lost his memory when he was attacked one night. so he forgot her and their life together. mary left him so he could recover.
The film was a pilot for a series; the first half was a strong begining, but the last half was a forced in Scifi channel-esque mess of over explanations that cut the veins of the story they told in the first half

All they needed to do was cut the girl out of it and spend more time focusing on the villain, it would've been a great movie. Our story up to the middle of act 2 was about a man with all the power in the world who was treated as a miserable outsider despite him being a selfless (yet irritated) hero. An apropriate villain should have been the discovery of a villain who has used similar powers to rise to the top of society........I wish there was not a typing limit to these comments. You get me?

Kick-ass, luckily being a comic book first, fully pulled off the "superhero in the real world" concept better, and "Heroes" as far as a TV show. Hancock could've been a complete masterpiece of superheo fiction, if the right comic writer was on it. (Looking at you Mark Millar :b)
@MidKnightBlaze Funny you should mention Kickass.....they did not write the comic first. They wrote the synopsis for the comic, but before they got to a second draft they were already pitching the idea for a movie. once they movie deal was made then they finished writing the comic AND made a more movie appropriate version side-by-side. What they could not do in one they could do in the other and they were equally involved in each. It was good because they really thought of how to tell the story
A black super hero, funny how that is so rare in movies and comics. Think of all the Marvel Superhero movies that are coming out: Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, X-men. There ain't no one black

Hancock is an awsome superhero movie, I`d give it full price, because there is humor in this, like the arrested guys being tied up to him, and when he starts walking they`ll all fall over, Just for those funny moments this made me my favorite movie.

WOW! Can't believe they enjoyed the movie that much. The first half of the movie is what I came to see: Will Smith being a drunk ass super hero who does what he wants and acts like a douche then starts to have a change of heart. The second half was complete garbage when I turns out magically that Bateman's wife is a superhero too and.... i liked the movie. i cryed at the hospital scene. i had a huge prob with the villain. his hand, wtf, do u really think police would let you have a god damn hook as a replacement? its a fuckin weapon. not only that, but its kinda gay. who the hell does he think he is? Captain hook? more realistic as a nub or something. get a fake hand like on King PIn or Happy Gilmore. the hook was lame

I thought this movie was awful, really awful. the overall feel of the movie was confusing and looked like will was trying to hard to be aloof.
the characters were all unlikeable, the storyline isn't well executed and the main twist just makes everything even more confusing. seriously it was like watching a different movie.
special effects were nice but that's about it. i don't know what they were smoking but with all the great movies out there this one isn't worth even a rental. 2/5
Just watched it. I thought some parts were ridiculous, but it was very entertaining. Overall, it's a 7/10. I agree with them, it dropped the ball in the third act.

I thought the first half was brilliant, very original and very funny. However, I agree with Korey and say this movie kind of fell apart in the second half. Maybe the movie would have worked better if this half had been better developed before hand, or maybe it would have worked better if they'd simply cut the movie down a little and stretched it out into a whole film about Will Smith becoming a great superhero. All in all it's just a Matinee, but I wish I could score it higher

I would've given it a low rental. The premise introduced in the first half had so much potential, but then they introduced the guy's lost superhero wife and it all went downhill from there. They brought in all this weird stupid shit back story and some random dude as a villain and that just shit all over the movie.
Then it would have been like every other superhero movie. With Hancock, it was supposed to be about his lost identity and his loneliness and his personal need to be a hero again. It doesn't really matter if he's fighting a giant mutant, or mad scientist, or terrorist.

Eh.... first half was good with a nice spin on superheroes, but the second half totally abandons the more satirical angle and went ultra serious with an out of place plot element involving gods and whatnot. A very uneven film, and a rather meanspirited one at that.

i liked the movie. i cryed at the hospital scene. i had a huge prob with the villain. his hand, wtf, do u really think police would let you have a god damn hook as a replacement? its a fuckin weapon. not only that, but its kinda gay. who the hell does he think he is? Captain hook? more realistic as a nub or something. get a fake hand like on King PIn or Happy Gilmore. the hook was lame

I thought this movie was awful, really awful. the overall feel of the movie was confusing and looked like will was trying to hard to be aloof.
the characters were all unlikeable, the storyline isn't well executed and the main twist just makes everything even more confusing. seriously it was like watching a different movie.
special effects were nice but that's about it. i don't know what they were smoking but with all the great movies out there this one isn't worth even a rental. 2/5

Just watched it. I thought some parts were ridiculous, but it was very entertaining. Overall, it's a 7/10. I agree with them, it dropped the ball in the third act.

I thought the first half was brilliant, very original and very funny. However, I agree with Korey and say this movie kind of fell apart in the second half. Maybe the movie would have worked better if this half had been better developed before hand, or maybe it would have worked better if they'd simply cut the movie down a little and stretched it out into a whole film about Will Smith becoming a great superhero. All in all it's just a Matinee, but I wish I could score it higher

I would've given it a low rental. The premise introduced in the first half had so much potential, but then they introduced the guy's lost superhero wife and it all went downhill from there. They brought in all this weird stupid shit back story and some random dude as a villain and that just shit all over the movie.

Then it would have been like every other superhero movie. With Hancock, it was supposed to be about his lost identity and his loneliness and his personal need to be a hero again. It doesn't really matter if he's fighting a giant mutant, or mad scientist, or terrorist.
