i wish that someone would've just slapped david crockett right out of the broadcast booth... the guy was total shit and almost as shitty as david mercer (world class)
I love the inspirational message but Flair should learn from the Jake Roberts as he said "U see guys come out and they have to scream and holler. I don't have to scream because a long time ago, I learn that if he has enough power, he can speak softly and everyone will listen"
I said it before and I will say it again, that was Ric Flair at his best on the mic! Started out as a promo and finished as a shoot. Ric Flair did not need a writer to give him his lines, he already had it in his head. Today's wrestler's could not do that to save their lives.
This ringside took place right after Dave Crockett attempted to demand an explanation from Flair about what he and the Anderson did to Dusty Rhodes after Rhodes came to the rescue of Flair after he was being pummeled by Ivan and Nikita Koloff after a grueling match between Flair and NIkita in a steel cage. I have this interview on VHS tape somewhere. Glorious memories of the historic NWA during the early or mid-80's!
Mrjimmy, u and ur mom just shut up! U have to wait ur turn like the rest if em. Oldest ride longest line! Woooooooooo Woooooooooo woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
@KitanaiharE Bullshit! Wrestling is scripted, the male's version of the soap opera, if you will. Flair's an actor, just putting on a show. You think this is him in REAL LIFE? You're delusional; I think we all are delusional. Gime to get back to reality.
Hands down Ric Flair was the greatest wrestler to ever cut a promo! No one and I mean None could do it like Him! Past Present or Future,he is the greatest!
One of the best things of 80s wrestling was how the heels always made out like they made 100Xs as much money as they really did. Not that Flair was worried where his next meal was coming from, but he was not as well off as he made out, heck the owners of the promition were not that well off.
Eh, yes and no. Flair actually did make some great money for the time, but he spent just about every penny on living the rich party life. Just as he said...clothes, limousines, women, booze, etc. That's one of the things that made the characters that people like Savage, Ted Dibiase, Flair, Jake the Snake, and so forth so damn interesting back then--they were simply exaggerated versions of themselves. This is why modern wrestling characters are generally bland in comparison.
'next time u talk to ur accountant look and see who built the building yall office in woooo'.ric was one of a kind.plus he's probaly the only guy who can rock that sport coat and make it look cool lol
It's funny because if you pay attention, Flair actually puts Crockett's promotion over as "the most powerful in the world" all while laying into his punk ass like a real old school wrestling O.G....WHOOOO!!!
I believe the incident they are referring to in the interview was when Ric was wrestling Nikita Koloff and the Russians came in and started working him over, Dusty Rhodes made the save and then Flair and the Horsemen turned on Dusty and broke his leg.
flair actually did have a limo with 25 women waiting outside, problem was he married half and had kids with all, if you do the math that adds up to massive alimony payments and thats why he still has to wrestle now
I like when Ric say's "let's tone this down a bit" then starts shouting. This was one of his best moments behind the mike which is saying a lot because there were many. Wooooo!!!
Its sad to look back on who I think was the greatest promo man and wrestler of the modern era and to know how he is now. Ric Flair was the reason i watched wrestling for years the JR Ewing of the NWA the man you love to hate. Now he is just a shell of himself in TNA just there cause he needs the money. I try to think back to these days in the old crockett and NWA days.........the glory days.
David Crockett once again allows his jealousy and petty disfavor toward the world champion to rear its ugly head. He should just provide unbiased commentary and treat the champ with the respect he deserves. Crockett should have taken a cue from his fellow broadcaster Tony C and been more professional and humble in the presence of greatness, and perhaps Flair would have given him a '74 Dodge Seatcover sports coat of his own as a gift.
@YacktmanFocused As much as I detested listening to David Crockett do commentary, in this role, he was very effective. His interjecting during Flair's interview made it seem more realistic and gave Flair something else to bounce off of.
@mastermold2011 I was very sarcastically being a Flair "mark". I actually DID like David Crockett, Tony, Flair, etc. - ALL of it, ALL the time... THIS was wrestling!
I find it hard to believe that fire hazard of a sport coat cost anywhere near $800 20+ years ago. I remember my grandpa actually had a seat cover on his old 1974 Dodge Pickup with an eerily similar pattern and color scheme. The material also looked the same as well.
That's Why This Sports Jacket Cost $800 & That Cost $200 & That I Don't Know, I'd Be Just A Shame To Wear It !!! Funny !!!! Classic Flair !!!! The Best That Ever Did It Baby !!!! Whoa !!!!!!
As far as I'm concerned The Rock and Stone Cold were were the "last" of the great bad asses who could handle an interview and microphone as well back it up in the ring.
But without a doubt, if there was ever anyone who wrote the book or set the standard and personified World Champion...it was Ric Flair. These little punk bitches today look and sound like they are in the high drama club, reading a bad script. Ric Flair spoke from the heart. He was and will always be THE man. WHOOOO!
i wish that someone would've just slapped david crockett right out of the broadcast booth... the guy was total shit and almost as shitty as david mercer (world class)
