If rainbows are rare, moonbows are even more unusual. They form from light being reflected off the surface of the moon, rather than from direct sunlight. Several factors must be in place for a moonbow to be visible. The moon must be full or within two days of becoming full (when it is brightest). With the exception of moonbows generated by waterfalls, the moon must be low in a dark sky. Water vapor must also be present in the air.
The personal name of the only true God. His own self-designation. Jehovah is the Creator and, rightfully, the Sovereign Ruler of the universe. Jehovah is translated from the Hebrew Tetragrammaton, יהוה, which means He Causes to Become. These four Hebrew letters are represented in many languages by the letters JHVH or YHWH. Mark 1: 14 Now after John was put under arrest Jesus went into Gal´i•lee, preaching the good news of God
On Maui we saw moonbows as we came out of a luau in Lahaina on the beach. It had been raining, and was just clearing as we came out. The stars were very bright and there were two moonbows, night rainbows, ghostly and very beautiful. I had used all my film inside for the firedancers etc. and couldn't get a picture...^%(#
The same conditions as a rainbow. They can occur anywhere but are more common in Hawaii because they often have isolated rain showers. I hope that was helpful.
i was upcountry haiku way on maui, cow pasture, it was about midnight, full moon. found a nice patch of cowpie wheaties(magic mushrooms) celebrated by doing a little happy dance looked up to thank the heavens and seen the most beautiful vibrant moonbow in shades of lavender pale blue pink and silver.if i'd already eaten the space biscuits i would not have believed my eyes. ahh, island life, what a hoot.
Thanks for the nice vid japril1! You are so lucky to have captured this on video! I have only seen this phenomena 1 time and I'm about to turn 30! I read that moonbows are quite common in Hawaii, is that true? Thanks again!!
Wow. Normal moonbows are rare enough, and those are normally all white due to incomplete refraction since moonlight is not as strong as sunlight. But a moonbow with definite 7 colors is extremely rare. You are very lucky. Great choice of music, too. (What is it?)
I saw my a moonbow as a kid only an hour or two after hearing someone tell me they saw one years ago. It was very trippy. It took me a few years to find out for sure they were real. There is something in literature about 3 moonbows appearing when a monk was born, or his first birthday or something.
Its like a rainbow. When the dew of a nightfall rain hit the moonlight in an angle it makes a moonbow. Awfuly rare and very beautiful/ More beautiful in real life.
Wow single moonbow all the way!
