I have been doing my nails like this for a very long time. Doing it this way gives a nice, CLEAN crescent shape at the tip. I've tried the stickers and they can be a hassle...I've tried swiping my brush straight across, and the crescent doesn't come out sharp.
I JUST DID MY NAILS LIKE THIS AND THEY CAME OUT PERFECT...MY NAILS HAVE TO BE SHORT BECAUSE I HAVE A TODDLER AND KEEP ON SCRATCHING HIM...BUT WITH THIS TECHNIQUE I CAN ACTUALLY GIVE THE IMPRESSION I HAVE LONGER NAILS...
I just did this on my roommate. I was skeptical of this working for me, because I was using a cheap brush and a cheap nail polish remover...and cheap nail polish...BUT it worked beautifully!
@cheekycatlover47 I recommend using sally hansen maximum growth its really good im using it and im glad with the results its a peachy clear polish and i use it for french tips :) hope this helps
or you cud save some time and just shape some tape in the shape of your nail and stick it right on without having to worry about getting out of line and having no curve(;
i think most men like that kind of nail polish,as what i've always experience with my bf,everytime i make that style he always gives compliment.but when i change it to other color,he always say, yack ugly nails...what can i say,so i have to stick with that style hahaha..which i love the most..
This video was great. In Australia, all nails shops do it that way to be more professional. The way she did was normal. If you used tape it would be un professional. Tape is a time saver but isn't that good sometimes.
so funny, I've been using electrical tape for years now. It's so cool other people do it too. I chose electrical tape because it can be stretched so the line can curve a bit instead of being such a straight line.
@bonniemae187 no black residue ever came off anywhere. It's just time consuming to cut the tape, but I promise you, it makes the cleanest and sharpest cut line out of any tool I've found yet. I've used the little paper pre cut strips before and those are good too, but they tend to raise on the nail causing the paint to leak messing up the line. The electrical tape is time consuming but it comes out perfect and an extremely clean/precise line. It's really satisfying to the OCD individuals.
yeah i used to use those but for some reason they always left a raised edge where i had peeled the tape away, or it sometimes would bleed through under the tape =/ i got the Konad stamp kit for my birthday a few years ago though and i absolutely LOVE it!
that's so hard! u can just get tape! and tape it to your nails without the tips! and apply white nail polish on the tips wait until it dries and that's it!!
I went to a Nail salon in Orlando FL and that's exactly how they do it except they dont put a base coat.. it was weird but the final look was amazing. Try it..
she could have saved time by making the french line straight, it is possible, and its so much easier when you have long nails, so i don't know why she didnt do it
awesome!! I skipped the base coat and used q-tips and with the worlds most un-practiced polish painting hands....managed to get a great looking french manicure. For a noob. Thanks for posting.
this is really stupid... she's just taking off all the base coat... so whats the french overcoat going to adhere to? pathetic. real nail technicians are trained to be accurate with their white polish and leave a beautiful french without cheating. it's about practice, not shortcuts.
why the hell do you have so many different mini clips for a freaking MANICURE! Why couldn't you just film it all at once or at least NUMBERED them. dumb.

if you do it by ur self it will ended up cost you more money, the brush along cost you $8 bucks. the aceton $2, the white nail polish $9. the topcoat $8. i better go to the nail shop.

is she crazy, you don't do that stupid shit. Practice using one swoop method with the white nail polish. This is a sloppy half ass way to do it that I have never seen b4.
I've tried that method and I think it's a lot better than using a tape. But I don't think it'll work when wearing base coat underneath the white part, cuz part of the base coat will probably be wiped off by the nail polish remover.
You are right. I put the white nail polish first, then use a smaller brush to shape the white polish. I copied how the ladies do it when I have a pedicure. I do my own manicure and now even my pedicure and put my own designs.
yes, but don't go over the nail plate. An idea tool to use for this is really an orange wood stick. Dip the end in nail varnish remover and got over the nail plate that way.
this is so hard you can just put tape on your nails and leave the top and put nail polish on it then take the tape off it makes a perfect curved line for french manicure
well basically clear tape but any kind is perfect. and just make a curve like this ( on top of your nail well the top part where you put white nail polish on to make french manicure
Wouldn't it be easier to just paint neat white tips around the free edge in the first place? It's really not hard to do it neatly with a little practise... will also save a lot of time.
I've never seen it that done with a paintbrush before. Don't they have those little stickers that act as guides. It's so much easier that way. You can also use a Q-tip dipped in remover.

Good tutorial except the type of brush should've been specified. It might work with any brush, but I just learned that the tip with a dome shaped is the best brush.
The only problem with this is that if you have put a base coat on and you need to correct it will take it off.

i have a better idea and ive used it before people posted videos about it
all u have to do is take a piece of tape and put it under where u want ur tip to be.
then paint on the tip to the end of ur nail so it wont matter if you mess up :)
i swear to God i came up with this. thumbs up if it works for you!

I've watched quite a few of the videos today and I must say I'm shocked - I don't think I've ever seen so much shoddy work!
If you want to do white tips, learn to do it properly with the polish brush. Not only is this a much neater way, it takes less time and you have much less chance of becoming over-exposed to the product and developing sensitivities!
freyasmum08 3 years ago
Try this out, I have been doing it this way for years, it is way smoother than the 'one swipe' method. Other methods give you lots of polish on your tip... and the usual bump or noticable paint lines. This is actually really fast if you try it. Make sure not to use a base coat and use pure acetone..... don't knock it before you try it.
